This song was written by Ewan MacColl for his wife Peggy Seeger. Ewan’s daughter is now best known for the duet with the Pogues on the song Fairytale of New York. Peggy survives them both and is still touring aged 90.

Incredible voice. This is another of those artist who came from a time where autotune was not needed. This is indeed a great song...but I admit, when the Clint Eastwood movie "Play Misty For Me" came out and this was the song used....that is the image I have. (It was a movie about a stalker.)

I can remember even as a child I was mesmerized by Roberta's performances. My admiration has only grown.

This song, as sung by Roberta Flack is just mesmerizing. I was about 10 years old when this song was a hit (I believe it was around 1972, if memory serves). I knew nothing of the kinds of feelings she describes in this song, but still, it gave me goosebumps the way she sung it. And in performances like this, she sings it live with the same perfection.
