I agree with you, however, in regards to 2002, Trapp had Vieri, Inzaghi, Totti, Del P, Delvecchio, Montella to choose from. All younger and not injured. That was the issue. However, Baggio was better than ALL of them IMO.

Considering that after returning from the injury, Baggio scored two or three times to say the least. Also the FIFA added the 23rd choice that year, so excluding him was probably a political decision from the federation, something related to his buddist faith (they were headed to Japan, let's not forget, that would have been a symbol) or to avoid clashes in the locker room with the never ending dualism Baggio/Del Piero. But can you imagine if Trapattoni was instead brave enough to put Totti behind Baggio and Del Piero, on the field, together? That would have been like Brazil '70 with all its 10 on the field.

Baggio is like This magical greats that the common football Fan just totally forgets. He made me fall in love with football.. He was the reason why as a young lad I was out in the garden kicking the ball high and trying to control it effortlessly.. In my opinion he's the greatest of his generation because he had the touch and finesse of the Maradonas and zidanes combined with Romario like finishing and he did it for every single club at every level with class and grace but for me what made him Special was how humble he was.. I still feel like he could be fancy when he wanted to with elaborate feints; he just chose not to as he knew he could get past them more effectively using his dribbling skills and body feints, or sudden changes of direction or bursts of acceleration rather than unnecessarily flashy moves, sort of like Messi, even though he had more natural flair. But he still had plenty of flair and creativity on the ball with his chops, roulettes, step-overs, rabonas, croquetas, sombreros, dragbacks, flicks, rolls, heel moves, turns, nutmegs, etc.

Tough question. I think baggio was more consistent with his touch. Bergkamp could make insane things happen out of nowhere, and with his size it was a treat to watch. But I still think baggios touch was unrivaled.
