"No one will be standing that close" is such good advice. I have an awesome aunt who's always preached skin care, taught me about make up, stuff like that. anytime I'd complain about something like blackheads or uneven brows she'd take a close look at my face and declare "you're standing too close to the mirror." Remembering that has definitely helped me remain sane at times.

The amount of times ive seen people do this istg, oval lining for example. If you have a very pronounced cupids bow to me it just looks like you can't do makeup when you oval line, yet so many people say it's the only correct way. It just mkes people insecure for not having the right features :( Its like they assume we all have the same features and it will work the exact same way on everyone, its so annoying.
@montananerd8244
@montananerd8244 Жыл бұрын
@@v.bogdanova5402 I bet your cupid's bow looks fantastic when you let it "shine"! Overlining looks so bizarre on me & tbh, yeah, it looks like 5 yr old doing lippy, and I feel like it was invented by someone jealous that cupid's bows were trendy at some point. I hate the idea that biological features can trend, I've had the same bushy brows all my life, they did not magically change into anything gorgeous, but the same people who "helpfully" bullied me about tweezing and waxing them now compliment me. My thought, if you thought my brows were ugly in 2007, but you admire them now because social media told you to, I do not need you in my life lol ... We are all going to regret this era of makeup once we look back on the bad contour, oily or flat out iridescence being called dewiness (something a living human cannot achieve, if there's dew on your cheek, you're dead or need 911), the white baked under eyes, the overlined lips, and way too much brown powder on people who do not even tan naturally. I love how decorative makeup is, but I am happy with my own techniques and looks. Glad you let your natural features shine, you'll never regret highlighting what you like best about you, or what makes you unique.

I'd much rather pump my foundation onto the *back* of my hand because the back of my hand isn't what I hold things with, lol. I don't necessarily need to go wash off the back of my hand immediately after finishing foundation but if I had it in my palm I'd definitely pause my makeup application to go wash it off to make sure it wouldn't get on other things. If someone is in a pinch and wants a lip scrub ~hack~ they could just put on some chapstick and then gently rub their lips with a wet washcloth. Please don't put coffee on a lime or whatever that person did.

I use a skin tint and a light dusting of powdered foundation. The other day as I went to squeeze out my skin tint too much came out. As to not waste it I put it on the back of my hand. Wasn't sure how it was going to go but it worked just fine. Even though I'm constantly washing my hands there's no way I would put it on the palm of my hand. Just seems too dirty to do, lol. Another thing. If they're doing the palm for the reason Robert stated it really doesn't make any sense. If you look at your palm, no matter your age, there's visible lines there 🤦‍♀️ TT has become the work of the devil 😂

It’s true there’s no “oil pores” on the palms but they have the most sweat glands in the entire body, up to 3,000 glands per square inch. If you want your makeup to have a nice dewy touch of sweat the palms are a great place to keep your foundation 😂

It's better when they tell you beforehand what type of look they're giving tips for, I get so annoyed when they show a "bad" side when sometimes the other techniques aren't even bad. I just have to tell you, Robert, that I have learned SO MUCH from your videos and I have to thank you for that. I'm in my 40s and grew up very much a "tom-boy". I didn't have a super close relationship with my mom and she never really taught me about makeup. I learned what I did in high school from my best friend and I used those same "techniques" until a few years ago. That's when I started watching your videos and decided to be brave and just try some things and found that, while I do love a very natural looking face, I also love what makeup can do to enhance my natural beauty and still keep me looking natural. So just thank you so much for all your wonderful lessons and honesty! DIY is not as bad as influencers say. I do think they are legit worried, but ppl do worse things with just regular products. It's likely pushed at them as a safety issue, but there's a consumer issue too, trying to push us to buy everything. I make my own humectant mists, bath powders, body scrubs (not face!!), simple masks (not using expensive food lol), and fatty (carrier) oil blends, and I do use EOs, after 20 years, I am a handy with safe aromatherapy. I have hurt myself with essential oils, but more so with over exfoliating commercial products. I can def say that Signature brand Differin, used properly, did more damage than all my DIYing. The MLM EOs are dangerous for cult reasons, no one who buys a couple bottles of tea tree & peppermint EO at the health food store is going to think they cure everything. There's no need for influencers to be so anti-DIY, which does lead me to speculate that it is an economic issue for them, at heart, but they may be conned into thinking that the safety issues are bigger than say, those around LASH GLUE.
@montananerd8244

@@ambersmith2612 it's the one DIY I don't do, but only because I can't get the consistency right (I can make a beautiful lotion that you would never know is DIY but cannot put sugar scrub together lol) and do it a couple times a day (I have to use a dental adhesive and it can leave some residue that doesn't wash off easily), so until I get the recipe less goopy, it's the cheapie sugar lippy ugh. Don't feel comfortable eating that one lol ...but that's the best part of sugar scrubbing lips!
@minagica
@minagica Жыл бұрын
@@montananerd8244 it ultimately depends on the DIY, but the problem is that most people don't do the research and you can waste more money on DIYs than save (as you pointed out: expensive food). You probably shouldn't put undiluted lemon juice on your face daily (no you, MN, the 'general you'), olive oil isn't as great as many people think, especially for regular use, and coconut oil isn't great for everyone either. Almond oil, shea butter, beeswax, those are great. I'm honestly not sold on mists as skincare in general, I drop 1 drop of peppermint EO into water for a refreshing mist during the summer that I don't expect hydration from, just some relief, and I used to try a few drops of cinnamon EO in water to scare away mosquitos but that hurt and I still got bitten. I think influencers are anti-DIY mostly because the majority of skincare DIYs on social media are not great

You should check out Rude Cosmetics! They have a lot of purple eyeshadow palettes and they’re really affordable. I got one of their palettes at TJ Maxx, figuring I’d just try it out, and some of the best purples I’ve ever used!

Thanks for the highlight/contour tips. I don’t have petite facial features so it can be a bit rough to highlight especially. The struggle is real for us ethnic nose havers 😅.

I recommend makeup videos by people with alopecia. From what I've seen false eyelashes are quite common even without having natural ones! And there's even eyebrow temporary tattoos!😀

Love the video as always. I have hooded mature eye ie no lid space. I have been using the under eye eyelash method, although not a full strip lash preferring piece lashes,for about 6 months now and I love it! Whether or not the glue is above or below your lashes makes no difference in my opinion. It's just preference and looks much more like lash extension.

Same. I feel like he acted like its worse than it is. I use a lash serum for my natural lashes to keep them strong cause I know tugging on them to put falsies on prob damages the hair and then putting a mascara on top probably doesn't help, but I found kiss lash flue to be rhe best , it gunks up when u wash it with cleansing balm in a good way to where u can just wipe off that little chunk of coagulated glue lol

The video with the nose contour and the hesitation with all those "No! No! No, no, no!"s going on 😂 Kinda precious, like a puppy 😂 I don't really contour my nose but it has a dent between its middle and its tip that I don't like, so I "hide" that by adding highlighter there to bring it seemingly in line with the rest of my nose ☺️
