4:17 I'm Indonesian and to translate the Tiktok Steaming Hack part, the makeup artist just said that she just wanted to test the longevity of the makeup she did on the client if the client is sweating by recreating it with the steamer so it's not a tiktok hack. She said in the end the waterproof makeup she used worked and that she used local Indonesian makeup brands.

Agreed.... They just did some experiment with the products used. We live in hot weather and most of the wedding was under the tent or warmer environment. The makeup able to crack and didn't stay longer. So the professional MUA do this steaming process to proved that their based very strong even under storm... 😂 By the way, greetings from Malaysia.

Lol this reminds me of when people in the west started dunking their faces in water to set their makeup after a girl in China went viral for doing the same thing except she wasn't setting her makeup and was just showing how waterproof her foundation was. Moral of the story, don't just copy something you see the internet, especially if it's in a language you can't understand.

Hi Robert! Just wanted to give some context to the steaming makeup hack at 4:14. The person in the video is not actually promoting a “hack”. She’s explaining that she’s testing budge proof make-up products, that is why they were very aggressively “massaging” the face. It is to show that the make-up really is budge proof. (btw she’s steaming the face to sort of replicate sweaty and oily skin that you get on a hot day, which especially relevant in the hot and humid Indonesian climate)

I’m a bartender and we have a glass dishwasher that lets out a lot of steam when you open the door. Throughout a long shift I put my face right in there and then blot. It really brings my makeup back to life. I have oily skin and use a lot of powder to make my face last long hours and that dishwasher stem is magic I swear.

The weirdest most accurate description of pores that I received from my cosmo teacher was to think of them similar to a cheese grater. You want to push the product up and into those pores, not swipe down and leave them open. Idk if that makes sense to anyone else but it was an "aha" moment for me!

I steam my makeup all the time when going out at night; I do my face, then a quick shower (2nd of the day), making sure not to put my face under. The steam sets my face, then I apply additional mascara, eyeliner, setting spray and /or powder and go! If using lashes, I usually apply post-shower - those are a nightmare in steam :) ADD: Re: "good side/bad side", Mum taught me to do my left eye with left hand, right eye with right hand - I'm right handed, but at 50 Ican apply my makeup with left hand as well as right. If you start early, you never need to worry about uneven makeup application :)
@semoremo9548
@semoremo9548 Жыл бұрын
I do this with my mascara! Sadly I'm not even great at liner with my right hand so I feel like doing it with my left one would be chaos lol. But in the case of mascara, I really can't do both eyes with just my dominant hand. I need to use my left one for my left eye and vice versa.

the steam hack wasn't so much a hack but rather just a simulation to test and show how the makeup doesn't budge under super humid conditions. the actual hack to make makeup last that well is unknown though😅

I wonder, if the trick with curling lashes upside-down is because of the rubber side of curler. If you turn it upside-down, the rubber part is on your lid and flat at the roots, so there's no space between roots and actualy curler edge. That way you get closer to roots for inside of the lid.

I appreciate the tips you gave, and it helps me to feel a bit better about my makeup. I tend to be an obsessive perfectionist, so it is encouraging to know that it is normal for makeup to wear down, that hand placement plays a part, etc. It is especially difficult for me because I am near sighted and I do my makeup with my glasses off, so I can naturally see VERY upclose and see every imperfection and I have to remind myself that NO ONE will see me THAT close lol! Very relaxing and refreshing video and it encourages me to not be so hard on myself when it comes to makeup ❤

I had to click right away, cause I love a good steam 🧖‍♀️ I don’t use a steamer, I think that looks like waterproof makeup but a little bath steam is the right about. Like my daily routine is face cleanse, hair in rollers, eye makeup + a bit of face makeup, and pop in my teeth whitening, cover my lips in hydration, then get into a ‘little bubble bath’ - basically just enough to cover the legs because of my illness, it calms my leg/hips/IBS and soothes indigestion, then pop out, body oil, remove whiten, cleanse lips, finish makeup and go. All in all I can do it in 40mins and that’s including get changed…as long as no one talks to me 😂

i find the “don’t tell me what to do” comments tend to come from the of videos of “don’t do this, do this instead”. i think people get annoyed because it feels super condescending to be told you’re doing something really simple wrong. even if it’s a good tip i find people are a bit more receptive on tutorials without the comparison. i’d much rather watch a video showing me a cute new hair tutorial rather than one telling me i’m doing a basic ponytail wrong, it just feels like i’m being talked down to it kinda reminds me of those old drawing “hacks” where there’d be a really easy drawing of an eye, for example, that took 2 seconds, and then the “hack” where they spent 20 minutes putting more effort into shading and perfecting in the drawing. they used to make me so mad even if they probably had decent advice

Here's my personal theory on good side vs bad side....I personally sleep mostly on my left side and back. My brows on the left side - total nightmare. My lashes are a dream. Exact opposite on my right side - brows are great but lashes are aimed out straight or even down. I really think (again just me) that it's how I sleep more than my hand movements because the side that'sagainst my pillow is affected more. Fun fact, I'm left-handed but do my makeup with both hands...I don't know if that makes a difference? Either way, I love you Robert! You make me cackle every single video and you're just quality entertainment period 💜💜

The pores aren't facing straight outward. They actually face a little downward. Applying the puty downward just causes the product to just skim the surface of your skin instead of filling the pores properly. That's why applying the product upward and then pressing it in works better...:) Makeup may not have rules, but techniques exist for a reason...:D
