Howard Hill style bows are a classic simple design. No frills, no fancy shapes. They do what they should, deliver heavy arrows on target. Been shooting hill style the last eight month's.

There is beauty in it's simplicity. It's archery the way I remember it. Thanks for making this video.

A couple of thoughts on your enjoyable video, first I heard your using a snap on type of nock. After setting up hundreds of Longbows for people I found snap on nocks pluck your string at release causing a tune vibration you can hear and feel. I always found it pleasant with every bow different, but prefer the old standard Mercury nocks. Dead quiet. Second your form is very good and a comment heard from all the great archers helps me when things are not where I want to be. You are only as good as your bow arm, the mass weight of most recurves greatly assist in using the energy of the bow, longbows are light and long, at release a conscious motion towards your target with that solid bow arm uses that vibrating energy and you really do become one with the Bow. Take Care

Hello Kev! I am so glad you are back and that your shoulder is imroving. I wondered for the longest time when you would try the ASL/Howard Hill Style bow and now you have one! Hopefully, someday, you could also try ASL's from Northern Mist, Howard Hill Archery, Sunset Hill, JD Berry, Jim Belcher to name a few in all their versions/designs: String follow ASL (the smoothest), Straight ASL and Back Set ASL(the fastest). I couldn't quite make out in the video which of the three kinds/designs the Marauder is. I hope your shoulder would get back to 100% soon. All the best and God bless

First time I've shot that bow the hand shock was so hard I felt my teeth chattered but after a month or so I got used to it and don't feel it any more. It's not a surprising that "hill style" longbows have such hand shock - it's basically one big limb and energy has nowhere to go but to dissipates into the hand, with that said I must say after a while you won't feel it and will enjoy shooting it, for sure. I love my 68" bow, shoot it a lot.

The marauder? Im surprised tbh, cant say the one im shooting in the video displayed any handshock. Certainly not enough to be concerned about

@@RobinhoodarrowsRHA Marauder, Omega bows, and some Korean bows as well, all have pretty much the same hand shock, and it is normal, as I said the energy generated by a 68-70 inches limb must to go somewhere. Some of it will be absorbed by arrow but the the most of it by the hand holding the bow it's a simple physics. Have you ever watched a slow motion video of how bow limbs moving back and forth? That's energy dissipating into the handle, where else would it go? That doesn't mean that bow is not good, it's just what it is. I love my HH longbows and would recommend it, it's very enjoyable to shoot but I am very suspicious when bowers say things like there's no hand-shock, really?! Why not to say that the bow generates very little hand shock which you won't notice after a while of something like that.
@30cpe
@30cpe 4 жыл бұрын
@@blackbow8749 An easy fix is to use heavy arrows. The reason you feel hand shock is because of the left over energy not used the launch the arrow. Heavy, and I mean 500 grains MINIMUM, arrows will make the bow much quieter as well because more of the energy is expended in pushing the arrow, so there is less left to buzz and create hand shock.

What ever came of your shoulder injury? I had a torn labrum and a bicep tenodesis repair about 3 1/2 months ago. I'm almost back in shape enough to shoot again. Gonna start with my son's bow and work up!

Hi Jarrid, still working my way through it. Ive had many sessions of intensive physiotherapy as well as shockwave therapy (which hurt like an SOB). The initial plan was to operate in March which I asked to be put back until the end of the season. In the mean time i do exercises every day at home as well as a light warmup and warm down routine either side of any shooting. Last week I had another orthopaedic appointment and there is now "some" hope I might get through without an OP 😊. Its not been taken off the table yet so we will see. It takes a bit of discipline to keep with the exercise routine but the alternatives far outweigh any inconvenience. The good news is Ive managed to get my bow weight up from 38# to around 45# too. The ultimate goal is to be shooting my 52# Outlaw ELB without worrying about shoulder issues. If im still improving in another 3 months time thats what im hoping for 😎.

Awesome man I hope you dont have to have an operation. I've had two and the second went much better than the first but neither were great. It's been 4 months of excercises everyday and I'm just now ready to shoot. I just got a new slick stick before I hurt my shoulder and haven't got to shoot it. Its been on the wall for 2 years!

I was watching your review of the bodnik slick stick and noticed you mentioned you did a video on the mohawk. I cant seem to find the video. What are your thoughts on it vs the slick stick? Love your videos btw. Hope your shoulder is doing well!

I cringe when you poke those arrows through between string and riser! While you can get by with that using field points, it is a wreck waiting to happen if you do that with broadheads attached to your arrows. Yikes!
