Roblox is continuing their efforts to modernize the Studio Templates. They’ve released a brand new and modernized Racing template! In this Roblox Studio Tutorial, I explain what the New Racing Template brings and what New Features it has.

I don't think this is supposed to for beginners. It's still useful for other developers as there are nice utilities that you can learn from like formatTime. You can also just drag and drop into your current and projects making it a good and open-ended for all sorts of projects, not just racing. I don't think all starting places have to be created specifically for beginners as I don't really find much use within the old templates.

Starting places are designed to teach a new developer Studio's tools. And like I said in the vid they could at least categorize it.

@@Paul1Rb Yea I think categorizing would be the best solution. But the main problem right now is that they don't even have enough templates to categorize. Once they add more templates, that would definitely be the right thing to do.

Oh hell this template is useful for a beginner like me who doesn’t know anything about scripting! All you really need to turn this into something a beginner even wants is just their creativity! There are so many potential game ideas to this template that seems complicated but still easy.

@@zythe9876 As a begginer myself, scrap all the race features. Grab the car spawner itself and delete everything else. With this amazing free car model and a spawner, you could easily build a location with some simple roads. That would be something a beginner could do even without much knowledge. Delete extra stuff, make simple stuff, done.

Ive ported a bunch of the cool stuff from that chassis to the opensource a-chassis so its easier for new devs, however most is already done better so there wasnt much to port

Roblox has made the shift away from anyone can make games to developers can make games here. There are only a very few new Roblox developers who stand a chance against the settled front page games and Roblox isn't financial incentivized to grow new developers especially as we see a lot of outside Roblox game developers make games on Roblox. Also I don't think that Roblox is a beginner friendly game engine due to the multiplayer part.

If we compare roblox to a lot of other game engines such as godot or unity, it is extremely beginner friendly as they provide a networking model for multiplayer, character movement systems, a customizable character avatar and more. This on top of the very easy to pick up systems such as building, gui and vfx makes roblox very fast to learn in comparison to other game engines. And even on top of that, roblox uses the lua coding language which is arguably, one of the EASIEST coding languages ever created. I also have to ask, what do you mean by anyone? If you don't have experience using a game engine then you can't make games simple as. Even in programs such as scratch, it is required that you understand how to write block code. There is no difference between "anyone" and "developers" except developers have been on the platform for longer. You clearly don't have any idea what you're talking about.

not beginner friendly? i strongly disagree, lua is a very basic programming language and multiplayer is fairly difficult to implement into your games using any other game engine. although, im pretty sure you just meant its not beginner friendly in the "getting your game onto the front page" aspect.
