Honestly I agree with the age rating on the games. That will allow for more mature experiences like you said and make sure younger kids aren’t playing very violent games. I kind of agree with the loot box thing, I don’t think they should completely remove them, but should make them only use ingame money like I saw another comment say. As long as you can’t buy money.

I feel like a good workaround to simulators losing the lootboxes aspect, is to add selectable rewards for leveling up, for Pet Sim X, the pet you can choose would be based on which stat you leveled up, for example: leveling up coins would allow you to select pets focused on coins, while leveling up gems would allow you select pets focused on gems, and so on.

I say the age rating system is a good idea and getting rid of those pesky loot boxes is also a good idea. The age rating on games system makes it so that you can find games that fit your style. And the loot box idea is a good idea because all I can think about when simulator is brought up is LOOTBOXES!!! So it would be nice to see a little creativity for once in the simulator games. Another reason why I like the the loot box idea is because it could encourage the removal of just straight up gambling. But for the age rating system, I feel like there could be a flaw. Like if there is a game that has you kill bugs as maybe a task but it includes bug blood or something like that, it could get perhaps a 13+ Age rating due to it just being straight up blood and no specific blood like bug blood. That is all I have to say for the age rating and loot box ideas.

Here’s my input on loot boxes. In my eyes, they are fine if they are cheap and you get a considerable reward no matter what you get. Maybe you get half currency back if you get a dupe, or the lootbox costs barely anything to open, kind of like in the newly released game, Specter II. However, I am kinda contradicting myself as I play games like CRK.

Honestly someone could argue that loot boxes have ruined gaming; and I'd agree with them. Kreek made a great statement in saying that we all know that loot boxes make developers a ton of money. And clearly we don't just see this on Roblox, its everywhere now days. So I sort of agree with the whole "get rid of loot boxes" statement, because it will allow for so much more creativity and enjoyment in the games we see today. Gaming is at an all time high now and it's pretty sad to see the drastic change in a money making standpoint; now, games all around the world are focused more on how they can make the most money than how to improve their player base' enjoyment. This is my main problem with gaming as a whole right now and I've stopped playing Roblox because all the games on the popular page are completely pay to win and grind based. But obviously no matter where I go I cant escape pay to win mechanics and loot boxes. Yeah, don't take everything I just said here too seriously, its an opinion that I felt like I would share regardless of nobody asking 🙄.

I think the lootbox potential bans in most places around the world is a good thing. I always try to find a good simulator game like BBS that isn’t play 2 win. This might mean that more creative simulator games will be made and the pay 2 win aspect in many simulator games will be removed or just not appearing often.

Most simulator games have loot boxes and if they get removed some people won’t play the game anymore, but the good news is that if they remove loot boxes, people don’t have to worry on getting a good or bad characters or skins

one way to fix lootboxes would be to replace them with the items they have inside, example you could get a cat or a dog from a loot box, they could split the lootbox and make the items cost ingame money so it isnt gambling, and the more mature experience will definitely improve roblox since more people enjoy some games that are violent with blood, guns or whatever

TDS could be a victim but I feel all they need to do is simply add another method to obtain skins. infact they're revamping the store, so if they decide to change the skin system in a few ways, even though only the golden skin crate actually gives you an advantage (although you can simply grind for a golden crate) or if there's an event going on, a free battle pass similar to piggy's battle pass is added and may contain a skin crate you'd usually have to pay for.

I hope that games like bee swarm simulator can still stay up with just removing the paid eggs as they aren’t really pay 2 win and I don’t know a single person who actually spends robux on them. I feel like this step was a good choice by ROBLOX but I really hope that non pay 2 win simulators are able to stay up fine.

As well as age recommendations, there are also country restrictions, like kreek talked about with loot boxes affecting European countries

Honestly, I’m not a big fan of simulators, so I don’t really care but some people who like simulators will probably be sad about this.

I really like the idea of the age restrictions playing games but there is one problem for me and maybe for other people is that I can not change my account birthday to the real age. So personally hope they don’t add it but it’s a good idea. I hope maybe they will allow users who set their account birthdate to an incorrect date be able to maybe with an email verify their account age. That is so that when young ones try to verify with a false identity the parents would attach their email to the account making them unavailable to even verify. It’s so that people who make incorrect birthdates be able to correct their birthday with a ID card.

I think with loot boxes, as long as 1: they are non-intrusive to the gameplay, and 2: Don't require real money, they are fine. Meaning spending non-paid in game currency is fine, It isn't real money, but if it is requiring you to pay real money to get a chance to be good at the game, then its bad. If you are spending money on the game, it should be for a product, not a chance at a product.

As a Belgian, I have never even heard of the “anti-lootbox” law. I recently bought lootboxes (and yes I live in Belgium). I am NOT 18. You can VERY EASILY bypass the system of buying these things. Trust me. It’s not going to be a huge deal for us. (Atleast, I hope so)

You can't hide a specific feature from a player in a country, thats not how it works. its either everyone can see it, group members only can see it, or only specific players by their IDs can see it, or no-one can see it.

Simulators could still exist if pet sim x for example had the feature that allowed you to buy the pets directly so have all of them in a certain shop and use in game money to purchase the pets. This way pet sim can still have its currency and pets while reaching world wide

The age system is actually a good addition. If theres a way to search up 13+ games in the search bar then that will be better due to the fact that its hard to find GOOD games in roblox cuz the "Recommended" tab is a lie and its not good

Would this effect games like world zero? World zero has chests that you get after every dungeon, tower, and event bosses. The game does tell you what you can get from the chests and the chances of getting each item. I’m just curious even though you don’t pay money for those chests.

age rating is a great idea in roblox. if loot boxes end up removed, the money hungry devs are probably going to quit making games. they won’t be able to make as much money because nobody is going to be buying their loot boxes with cool cosmetics in them.

I agree with you on the loot boxes. I dont play Roblox at all but this makes a LOT of sense! The only way I can see loot boxes being allowed is if it uses in game currency and ONLY in game currency meaning devs can't make money off of loot boxes but games like Pet Simulator X which already HAS a in game currency like you said and they can easily implement a work around that requires a higher form of in game currency specifically. For example the premium loot boxes have a special currency unpaid for that is very hard to get in game but still pretty farmable. I just hope these laws won't affect old games like FRLG/RSE. Because lbh those games can't really be patched.

I feel like if simulators get rid of loot boxes they should do something where when you join the game it says you have one final open on any egg (or whatever the game uses to get pets) choose wisely and it doesn’t matter what egg/thing you pick bc the thing you get out of the egg is a text box saying “eggs will be removed from this game tomorrow we hope you had a great time hatching all these pets.” You can close out of the message when your done reading and will be kicked from the game

Honestly i do think that the thing with loot boxes should be removed from everywhere. When someone buys a mystery box for example that costs in-game coins which you pay real money to get them, when you buy the box, the chances are not much to get a good item, especially when you get a common one it leads to an addiction of getting more of these loot boxes to get something better. If lootboxes are secondary to the gameplay experience itself, i.e. they enhance it but are not the main focus, they should be fine. For example, in Arsenal, a roblox game, there are lootboxes that get you skins, emotes, and other such cosmetics. But you can't buy a lootbox that gives you nukes every round, you gotta work for rpgs and such by racking up kills.

I get developers need to make money, but I find the banning of lootboxes as a good thing. Games can make money other ways then legit exploiting kids for gambling money, (I.E Robux related perks that are not random. Gamepasses, etc.) Also I like the idea of a rating system since it will help developers get more creative since now they won't be endlessly trying to jump through hoops to make the game work for everyone. If they want to make a 13+ game, they can and roblox will support that with the rating system. I expect people to freak out about this and possibly be controversal when it releases. But I see a lot of good with this in the future.

These updates will affect me so much because. 1. I am from the netherlands, and 2. I am 13+ but when i was younger i accedently set my account age to 2013, and this will affect my account so much that i cannot play my favorite games anymore. I have contacted roblox support so much already to change my account age. But they are not letting me, and this makes me sad that i will see that i cant play my favorite games.

Bruh there are some big games with "loot box's" that people like. TDS has crates basically loot box's and there are golden crate's that are major for fallen mode or hardcore or event's. Blox fruits with the random rolls on devil fruits. All the pet sim games have "loot crates" including almost every simulator.

I think this lootbox idea is a pretty good one, especially with games that are entirely gambling (like pet simulator), but simulators that I consider fun and good (the ones that are less of the full/true "simulators") will still work, although many will lose a large part of the game.

I'm intested if this change will actually be good so the devs will make a better game and not do the repeated thing again like new eggs new area new things but still the same thing

I think lootboxes should still be in games. But you have to work for them. Like for pet simulator X you might have to get 1,000 coins to get a common egg. Or something like that. And the coins/currency for simulator games is only used for other stuff. It could show kids that to get money you have to work for it. Maybe this is a good solution.

The problem is I can’t change my birthdate on ROBLOX to what it actually is, and that might prevent me from playing games I like. I'm not talking about simulator games, I am talking about other games that might get rated for a more mature audience. One example would be ToH, a game I have spent years playing.

For 13+ they can play all games as they come in 9+ age , 13+ age , all-ages so for them nothing is changed

As a game developer I wonder if cases in games count as lootboxes, for example mm2 has cases. You don’t know what your getting in return for your money. Do cases coumt?
