Cardiff Model Engineering Society Running Day 09/06/2017

I was invited to attend one of the Cardiff MES Running Days at Heath Park in Cardiff, and this video highlights some of sunperb locos on show. Some home based and many from all over the UK.
I would like to thank the Society for the warm welcome afforded me during the visit, and hopefully I will be able to attend further events in the future.

Marvellous models Bob and what a fantastic layout of trackwork. One little scene took me back - trying to get the balance between water and steam so the injector would pick up the water. Chris

As usual your videography is absolutely first class Bob! My congratulations to you once again. I thoroughly enjoyed the low level shots and the close-ups too. The group really did put some excellent locos on view and I was pleased to see the SR 'Coffee pot' once again. I have fond memories of the full size version of those incredibly powerful 0-6-0s working in Hampshire. My thanks to everyone involved. Now I'm going to watch part 2 ! Best wishes. Rob.

The lovely little Castle class. BR 4075 Cardiff Castle. All the detail of a full size castle and hall Steam locomotive

Good start with the Cardiff Castle Bob , its a great hobby this ....think we should both start with a club and acquire our own steam Loco ...sure could have some fun ...one thing would be knowledgeable enough to drive the real ones..thats a very nice track set up they have built there ...Dave

The Castle is a fine scale model Dave, and is absolutely superb....Like you, I'd love to own one, but it's well beyond me now in every respect....Regards...Bob

Lovely video of the open day Bob. I know the guys very well at the Heath as our Rotary Club hold a day there every year for handicapped kids. It was a few days prior to your visit but I was on holiday. I gave a talk to them on my railway videos last year in their lovely club house. Geraint

Robert Masterman we were lucky in morning they had visitors there from Tokyo as well on the narrow miniature gauges models they brought with them 😀

What a lovely place that is! Looks like they had some fun; the feller with his glass of beer at 8:28. And he didn't spill a drop! The Castle was flying round! And I love the spaniel at 3:00.

They are professional Beer carriers on train in Cardiff Andrei, not one drop to be spilt....That Castle was a suoerb fine detail examoke, and just flew around...and as for the Spaniel...totally agree....Bob

Cool video. Are they mostly 5 inch gauge locos?

The ones at Ground level Matt are 7 1/4" whilst the ones on the raised track will be 5"...Hope that helps.

Amazing looking looking setup, looks like some real time and effort has been put into all the track and building work. Who is the 'Speed Demon' at 3:20?

That's the good thing about these Running Days, they can test out their locos as can be seen with the Castle....It's a great set up there, of course this was aclosed session not opened to the Public....Bob

I can't see my previous reply, but it's a Members and invited guest weekend, and there isn't public access to it unfortunately, I believe they have public open days are once a month....check their website for details....Bob
