@@camaradas_tv1715 the redesign just looks cooler and badass. And I’m a fan of the classic. But it looks clunky, goofy, and slow. Which it was in the movies. The 2014 one gives a Batman and iron man crossover vibe when it comes to looks. And it just looks crazy and amazing

@joni On its own, as a generic robot/cyborg movie, I'd say it would have been okay. To reboot Robocop, not so much. For one, he kept a hand. In the original, they said they were able to save an arm, but Bob Morton said to "lose the fucking arm" that they were going with total body prosthesis. This was to set up the idea that they took everything from him, including his memory to begin with. The original movie was basically a Western gunslinger superhero movie. The reboot again felt like a modern generic robot movie. The original was rated R, because back then, they cared more about art than sales. And it was gory af. Whereas the reboot was PG-13 for sales. This means it was clearly a cash grab where the original was a real story being told. In the original, Peter Weller actually studied mime so he could produce robotic like movies. It made it fun to watch. In the reboot, he just looked like a guy walking around in a suit. There's more, but I'm just waking up, so I'm still a bit foggy. So, in short, they missed the point. They missed the story, and they missed the actual fun of the original. Also, I'm kind of tired of all this cgi crap. They still can't get things like gravity right. And it makes it look like a freaking cartoon.

@joni Fair enough. Most of my end of the hate comes from multiple rebooted movies, none of which pay proper tribute to the original films. In all honesty, I might just be tired of all sequels and reboots. In some way or another, they all seem to not follow the original. Robocop 2 and 3 (although I kind of like 2), The Neverending Story 2, a couple of examples or "original" franchises that messed it up as well. And even films that were touted as better than the original kind of messed up, like Terminator 2. I know, blasphemy, right? But with all of its amazing effects, especially for the time, it just wasn't as dark as the first one. They fell into a lot of 80s and 90s-era garbage like, this character doesn't understand normal idioms, etc. as well as a lot of plot holes. But I'll digress, I'm sure you didn't want an essay. Robocop 2014 was a good enough movie in its own right.
