Great video. I used to live in Oklahoma City back in the 1980s when I was a kid, and every once in a while we would go to Dallas. I have no idea which building it was in Dallas, but in one of them I remember they had a life-size Robocop suit/model. It was pretty awesome, especially for a 7-year-old.

Moved to Dallas in 84 after college, spent a ton of time then in the downtown area. Saw Robocop right when it came out of course, and knew right away all the various filming locations. Very distinctive exterior shots for sure.

I met Peter Weller back in 2012 when he came to a show with Gabourey Sidibe. I was working the front door, and he comes in and says “I’m Peter Weller, I’m here with the Gabourey Sidibe group”. Y’all, I nearly about had a CONNIPTION. My childhood hero was standing right in front of me. It was so surreal, but he’s really just the nicest guy.

Also, Dallas Native here, so I always love these videos. Went to a show a few years back at Sons of Hermann and was geeking out the whole time because of the RoboCop history. @@Our80sLife It really is! I must have seen it about 100 times at least since I was a kid (yeah, 80s kids watched violent films :D ) and it's so enjoyable everytime. My ONLY complaint is with ONE special effect. Not the ED-209 (I love quality stop motion work) but it's the weirdly long arms of Dick Jones when he plummets at the end. That's the ONE bit I wish they'd have fixed up in the various versions they've released over the years. But eh whatever. Rest of the effects hold up well and as you mention in your reaction video to it, the make up of RoboCop when he takes the helmet off is excellent. You can see his skin stretched over the metal. Despite what some people think, it's supposed to be that his facial skin is overlaid onto a robotic skull... shooting him in the face won't kill him. And it was done by OCP to try help him adjust, cos if you woke up, looked in the mirror and saw a robot skull looking back you'd probably have a nervous breakdown or heart attack. There's a beautiful lil scene in RoboCop 2 where he does come face to face with his wife and she remarks that the face feels cold. Peter Weller plays the part of Murphy/RoboCop so well. :) Anyways I'll stop being a nerd now. Hope your weekend been awesome. Stay safe and well. :)

Thanks Alex! We only included the Dallas locations in this video having never visited the Pittsburgh area. But according to some of our viewers, it was called Duquesne Steel Works and was located in Duquesne, just outside Pittsburgh. We've been told it was closed in 1984, and I believe it sat derelict for many years before eventually being torn down. Anyway, sorry we don't have much information about the steel mill. Glad you enjoyed our video!

i love RoboCop 2 almost as much as the first one and it's got some great scenes and Weller is great again. RoboCop 3? Eh... doesn't even have Weller and it's all been toned down to be 'kid-friendly' (though I had the first two on VHS when I was a kid) so what's the point? :P

Fun video y'all! I had no idea that any of those movies were filmed in Dallas! Tim has seen all of the Robocop movies I think, but they are not really my cup of tea, so I'm not familiar with them. You guys found a lot of locations and it looks like you guys had fun! Take care and have a wonderful and blessed day ---Stacy 😍💚

Thanks Stacy! We are behind, having only seen the first Robocop. Definitely planning to watch the sequels in the near future. I can see why you'd say that though... the movie was super gory! It did have a sweet/sad story once you get past all the violence, lol! We had a blast tracking down all the filming locations in my hometown, what fun!

Gives me chills, I feel like they’re going back to my old house... They should have 1 or 2 actors from the movie when they do these kind of videos. That could give more info on what was going on back then.
