Thanks for the review. We just upgraded from Deebot N8 Ozmo to Roborock Q Revo and it's a significant difference. Even though it's older tech, the biggest problems we had with our Deebot were with the app and mapping system which I think is subpar compared to Roborock. I had to remap almost every week before we finally just made the swap. Currently I have no complaints for our Roborock - our house is definitely staying clean and works well, especially with the floors being mopped daily.

Great to hear that. Yes the ecovac mapping isn't as good as Roborock I'm working on the new comparison and it's the same case with the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vs the Deebot X2 Omni. The S8 Pro really is quite good on carpets even with a rubber roller but it has two of them.

I have this T20 Omni robot, and at this point I won't recommend it to anyone, because it's terribly buggy. Both the cleaning strategy leaves a lot of uncleaned areas with TrueDetect 3D activated, which does more harm than good, and the operating app, which throws errors every now and then. If you have a pedestal a little deep under the cabinets in the kitchen, forget that the robot along will clean (even though there is room). It will detect the cabinets in the front above and erroneously assume that this is already a wall, or there is no space. There's no telling what it's guided by. And leave the cabinet still unclosed for a while, the robot won't even pass under the door. It will go around them in an arc and, of course, will not clean under them. The above problems are caused by TrueDetect 3D, because instead of using this option to not pull up cables and such, it uses TrueDetect for other purposes, such as misjudging that it won't drive somewhere. Turning off TrueDetect 3D causes the robot to clean under cabinets, pass under doors and also drive into places it has trouble accessing. Just why buy a robot with an obstacle-avoidance option if it works badly? And and disabling TrueDetect 3D makes the robot blind in front and very often hits objects with its bumper. Another problem with the T20 Omni robot is the procedure for returning to and leaving the station. The robot leaves the station each time with mops laid on the floor to mop a remote area. Likewise with the return to the station. If the robot returns with raised, dirty mops, it lays them down, and so dirtying its driveway, it drives back to the station. After vacuuming itself, it also lays them down and scrubs them dry as it drives into the station. Nonsense. As if they forgot to program the robot with different start and return procedures depending on the circumstances (program). The app is so clunky that it often doesn't display the current status of the robot and you have to exit the app every so often to see where the vacuum cleaner is and what it's doing. It looks like a WebView app, and when you open it, it loads like a page. On top of that, it is badly translated into Polish. Sometimes there is a blank screen with "undefined" instead of the message content. And to make it even worse, there is no option to manually control the robot (remote control). Of course, I reported these problems to support, but it's been 4 months and nothing has changed, no update that even improved the exit and return to the station without laying dirty mops. Most of the positive reviews, from what I observe, come from sponsorship or the free donation of equipment for testing in anticipation of a positive review. It's also worth mentioning that Ecovacs has sent out an email to users that the robot has a manufacturing defect, and this applies to the T20 Omni series manufactured before June 2023. The problem is that one mopping pad falls out periodically. Of course, mine caught and there is a form further asking for an address where they will send replacement parts. After 2 months they sent new mops and plastic pads and so far nothing has fallen out, and before that it happened.

Costco carries the Deebot TEO Omni which is the exact same as the T20 Omni. Apparently it's been on sale for as low as $625. At that price, and with Costco's return policy, I think it's a smarter purchase decision than the Q Revo. If the machine is problematic in a year or 2, you can easily return it and then by then the next gen of Robot Vacs will probably be even greater.

I saw Ecovacs have different cleaning density - i.e. how close neighbouring passes are. Does Roborock have something similar? Ecovacs also has corner cleaning more. Does Roborock leave some place near the wall unmopped, or does it havw a similar function?
@Techtablets
@Techtablets 10 ай бұрын
Hi, the Roborock doesn't have that deep mopping or edge clean feature. The edges with the Roborock seem just as good but the deep cleaning closer format mop is good with the Ecovacs. But that edge clean thing seems a bit of a gimmick as they all leave a little gap in the corners.

This is an alert about the Ecovacs new T20 vacuum/mop. Be VERY careful when you use it!!!! I received my T20 and am having some BIG problems with it. I noticed that after a mop run, the floor infront of the dock and the ramp of the dock was wet. I watched it while it docked, and while it was docking, THE MOP PADS WERE DOWN!!!! This means that DIRTY water was being squeezed off the pads, and rubbing into the floor infront of the dock!!! It didn't matter what area was being mopped, or the whole house either!!! ALSO, there was so much water that the floor UNDER the dock was SOAKED! This is NOT GOOD for 120 year old hardwood floor!!!! The SAME thing happens after a vacuum only run, but the pads are usually not wet. BUT that still wears them excessivley. I have tested a few other modes, like MOP, and MOP and VACUUM, and the pads are rinsed like normal, THEN the bot backs out of the dock WITH THE PADS DOWN AND WET!!!!!! This ALSO squeezes water under the dock!!!! The problem would be just as bad if the dock were on a carpet! The carpet detect does not work during docking, so the pads are down and rubbing the carpet with dirty water!!! I have been in contact with Ecovacs, and sent them videos of the problem, and they don't seem to be very interested in getting the firmware fixed. They just give me alot of "stroking" and "how sorry they are.." blah blah blah!!!! They are sending me an "moisture-proof pad". Sure sounds like they know this is a problem!!!! I feel for a $1000 vacuum that is supposed to be premium, I got the "premium" treatment!!! Bend over!!! I am sending mine back, and will forefit the $100 discount and the one day Amazon $250 gift card as my hardwood floors are worth TONS more than this!

Man do I ever have some early adopters headache’s with my T20 right now. There are so many bugs. It just tried to mop the kitchen with dry pads. I let it finish, then I sent it out manually to do the kitchen. It wet the pads then went to the carpeted office. I sent it back to the dock, it cleaning the pads and finished but the app was still saying it was cleaning them. I closed the app and reopened it only to find that the room separations I had created in the map were gone. And all my customized scenarios were gone. I had to re add them, then redo my entire schedule. Then, after I finally got it to mop the kitchen, it came back to wash the pads and ran out of water, when I refilled the tanks, it didn’t resume washing the pads even though it said it was. Again, I had to remove it from the dock and manually start the pad washing again. It took me an hour of fucking around to get it to mop my kitchen, I could have done it in 15 minutes manually. This thing might be going back.

Slower would offer better vacuuming and mopping performance and since I run it when I’m not at home most times, I don’t really care how long it takes.

@eklein89 it has been quite an adventure, but its still working great! The setup was a bit of a pain because it won't connect through modern routers like most of these devices, so you have to set up an alternate 2 ghz local network for the initial setup, but the app is super slick and mostly easy to navigate, so its not a huge problem. The robot itself is still chugging away. At first, it got clogged a lot because i didnt do a great job picking up, but after a few days, we worked out a good rhythm and i started picking up my socks before she deployed. As a matter of fact, the biggest change with getting the Q Revo on the prowl is how it's regular schedule keeps everyone in the house mindful of leaving junk laying around. kind of a fun little psychological "whammy" i did not expect. overall, it has been a pleasant and positive experience that has made my home a nicer place. would recommend

I haven’t noticed any drawbacks. The key to a clean floor is to ensure the mops are clean the only way to do that is to clean them. I just wish the tank was bigger.

@@JordieG8you mean the clean water tank in the dock station? Does it not take considerably longer for it to do its job since it has to return to the station so much often to wet/wash the mops?
@joannazian7699
@joannazian7699 10 ай бұрын
It's not as stupid if you look at it from a perspective of the mop pads being washed in a warm water and thus to some extent mopping is done with warm pads. Also with clean pads. When you mop manually, it's not only about wetness of the mop. You rinse it also to clean it.
@JordieG8
@JordieG8 10 ай бұрын
@@joannazian7699 Will it take longer for the robot to complete a cleaning cycle, probably. But theoretically it'll be cleaner in the end. Water is simply the agent used to dissolve dirt into solution. The pads store the dissolved dirt. If the pads aren't cleaned, once they become saturated with dirt they're simply going to spread it around. It doesn't matter that the Robock continues to add water, its about the holding capacity of the pads. When the T20 washes the pads, it resets the pads making them ready to absorb more dirt and not just move it around. I can't speak for the Revo (Not available in Canada yet) But I can say from experience after my T20 goes around the floor feels very fresh and quite consistent. For the 500SqFt of floor space my T20 cleans it only goes back once and the cycle is about 3 minutes long give or take. I do wish the clean and soiled water tanks were bigger, every cleaning uses about 30% of the clean water tank. Its about enough for 1.5 washes of the main floor. I have it set to wash the main floor twice a week and the kitchen 4 times. I figure I'll end up filling the water up 3 times a week. Still beats mopping and is a small price to pay for the floors to feel and looks nice more often.

I'm not convinced these units are not taking images with their cameras or sending data to suspect servers in China. You state they can't be viewed in the application right? But perhaps they secretly take images and send mapping data to China. Such units connected to a network pose a security risk, backdoor access to your network, PC, and phone. Check it can work without internet access, please? Also, see if it sends any packets to Chinese IP addresses. You need to cover this in your reviews, Chris. Otherwise nice comparison, they both look good expect that carpet test was oh so disappointing.

They are RGB cameras I believe and can't be accessed via the app or otherwise. If you're worried put black tap over them but then you need to turn off the obstacle avoidance. I'm not a networking expert so I don't know how to monitor packets and even tell if they are sending data that they shouldn't be. Yes, carpet cleaning with never brushes doesn't get hair stuck in them but then they are poor at lifting up hair!
