Roborock continues to make high-performing variants of their most popular models, and the Roborock Q5 Pro+ is another perfect example. The Q5 Pro+ is the latest from their Q series and features a new attachable mopping pad paired with their docking station. When put through our cleaning tests, the performance on the Q5 Pro+ received high scores in most categories.
However, the functionality and maintenance of the newly added mopping pad brings down the score. It lacks floor scrubbing movement and no auto maintenance feature to clean the pad, giving it little mopping functionality. Additionally, its obstacle avoidance test had very low performance in avoiding objects placed while testing.

We've tested a few in the past and I just really wasn't overwhelmed with the concept in general. The performance was pretty lacking. It's possible we'll test them in the future, but as of right now I don't have any immediate plans.

Oddly, Amazon has both the Q5 and Q5 Pro for the same price. Some online reviewer suggest that the regular Q5 with it's single roller does better on carpet than the Q5 Pro with its double roller. Could that be true? And which would you recommend?

That seems unlikely. In all my years of testing I've never seen a single roller perform better than a double roller for carpet or any other surface.

q7max for almost double the price is it worth? Is the q7 mop makes a big difference over the q5pro?

Not sure on the Q7. That's a model we haven't tested yet.

Depends on your settings. If your home has lots of surfaces that need to be mopping, only a day or two. If it has a smaller area, it could last several days or even a week or more.

How well does it empty hair out of the bin with auto empty? Does the debris still come out through the rollers to get sucked up the tower?

We had no issues during our test. The most common issue that clogs the auto empty is thick and fluffy pet hair. If you don't have that then you shouldn't have any problems.

Having the robot bumping all over the place is better than defining forbidden areas?

In general, use no go zones to block robots from areas they could get stuck in. Beyond that, let it go where it wants.

Is this better than the Roborock Q7 Max for cleaning purposes? I don't too much care for the mopping features.

@@-Chvnce It's not. They are more or less the same when it comes to cleaning performance. There are just a few minor usability differences (and of course the auto empty dock being the big one).

Is auto empty is must feature or not?

It's super convenient. After having robots for several years with the auto empty it would be hard to imagine going back. I think it's basically a must in 2024.

@@zynexxelord7900 Q5 Pro+ is a good value robot that has a self empty bin. But it's not the best overall. Best robots overall are within the $1.2-$1.5K range.
