I saw the film for the first time yesterday, and as an almost 70 year old man who has been through, well, a lot, I was so deeply moved by this heartwarming and heartbreaking story. Like both Dog and Robot, I have had important people leave my life, people without whom I felt I could not survive, and somehow I did. And in times I was slowly able to open my heart again, I found other people for whom I could care deeply, without ever forgetting those who came before. as someone who lived in New York in the 1980s, one thing that struck me about "Robot Dreams" was that, throughout the movie, the World Trade Center is seen in the distance. When I lived there and then, I took it for granted, something always over there that would always be over there, and it was an early visual cue that this film takes place before the turn of the century. As the film went on, though, I felt that the presence of the Twin Towers must be intentional, as was the choice of “September” as a leitmotif throughout the film, as foreshadowings of how permanence and joy can change in an instant. Ultimately what this movie asks us is, what happens when you open your heart to someone and that someone is taken away from you? Is it possible in the face of unspeakable loss to find happiness again? “Robot Dreams” answers this in an exceedingly mature and nuanced and complex and compassionate way. I was an absolute wreck by the end of the film, and I'm still feeling all the feels a day later. And for that I am glad and very grateful.

i love this movie. im about to watch it for the third time in theaters. it makes me so happy to see that other people see the wonder in it that i do. it deserved the oscar quite honestly. what a movie.

Thank you for making this video you have understood the film in detail, it is a very symbolic film, I hope people give it the support it deserves, honestly it deserved the Oscar, the films of today are used to making a good animation and a plot will be successful, Robot Dreams is different it will not have the best animation (which for me it is, It's too beautiful the 2D) But it has an excellent plot that without having a single dialogue says more than a thousand words and all thanks to how alive they managed to make the film lively, with the piano music, which expressed the feelings and situations of the characters, the gestures, the looks they exchanged with each other, everything is very beautiful if you ask me. 10/10
