I've not finished it but I have some important, I think, information on constructing the tumbler mechanism. 1) Go to town on the wax, don't be shy. 2) when installing P3, the first code wheel with the smaller wheel inside, the instructions are wrong. Install the small wheel in the big wheel, then install the big wheel in the cradle, then turn the dial to align the numbers with the small wheel, then push through. 3) The silicon rubber band. First, treat with a petroleum jelly based lubricant or lip balm. Then, treat the parts which tension the rubber band (just where they touch and, specifically, slide) This is important, those silicon rubber bands won't last without some lubricant and something to stop them perishing! And these puzzles don't really like coming apart, plywood is only strong in compression, not tension.

I enjoyed making the Treasure Box. The instructions given are detailed and was enough for me. Only one thing that should have been mentioned is the passwords that are not supposed to be set should have been given at the first page. I have set 143 and got stuck at step 10. Have to go back and build it with a different password. And thanks to you bro for showing the passwords that are to be avoided in the start of the video.

you're welcome! It was a bit stressful for me to build the box since pieces are so fragile and they don't really have enough spare parts.

If you find the pushing in of pins difficult, hold the piece and push the pin in with the table. If it's really difficult, lightly wax the part.

Instructions worked perfectly!! This is my first time building something like this so it took me hours . It worked perfectly for about a minute until the lid got stuck and snapped so it's completely broken 😭 even though I don't regret making it , I'll never be doing this again 😭😂

I broke several á well. Some pieces they have the extra's, some pieces I fixed with glue.

every time i try to decode it the gaps are not in the right place they are aligned just not where they are suppose to be

I'm afraid you have to do the whole coding steps again. Just make sure first that the code you use is allowed according to the table in the book.

@@MinimoCreation So it took me a while but I figured out the numbers that would work to open the lock. I still have no idea why it didn't work with my original password, I probably had a password that wouldn't work but at least I know the password that works for my dials. thx for the advice anyway.

Hi. I know this is an older video, but I’m wondering if the part numbers and instructions have changed. My instruction book and part numbers do not match 😂Haribo have. Any suggestions?

I got a problem that messed up the entire thing I lost the wax but no Biggy I can go get a candle But I lost the rubber bands r there replacements or alternatives I can use

Maybe you can try hair tie or mini rubber bands. They are quite thin compared to the rubber band from the kit, so you can use several of them at once. Just try and see if the lock mechanism still works with these. Good luck!

Can you be more specific about the problem you have with step 4? In my instruction book, step 7 is decoding and step 4 is putting the gears on.

Hello for the bit at 17:14 does the hook latch need to be able to fit in to the slots by turning the knob? My latch doesnt go into the slots if im only using my knob but if i use my fingers to manually move the p1 p2 p3 i can make the latch land in the slots. Im not sure if im having issues or this is normal Edit: i saw another comment left here and tried your method and while the slots now match up perfectly, my latch doesnt fall into the slots and stays floating unless i give it a little push to fall in is there anything i can do to remedy this?

Did you press the latch against P1, P2 and P3 during decodings? Without the rubber ring, the latch won't fall back without a little push. I pressed the latch against them with my finger to make sure they rotated correctly and created a space for the latch to land in. After that, I put the rubber ring and the lid on.

@@MinimoCreation I’ve been pushing down on the latch during the decodings to make it fall in but i havent put the lid/rubber band on because i wasnt sure if my machinery was stiff or if something was wrong. Glad to hear the latch isnt supposed to fall in without a little push! i will try and put the rubber and lid on now :)

Both of the rubber rings broke as I was trying to turn the knob. I appreciate any advice you would have!

hi, I am trying to do the treasure box and got stuck at the coding. As it is clear to me how to put P3, there is no indications for P1 and P2 positions. I am using a different code then in instructions. Could you please help me out. it is very frustrating:-(

Hello, As far as I understand, they don't mention anything about how to put P1 and P2, it means you can put them however you want as long as they land in the gaps. When I did them, I made sure their slots line up like the 3rd photo from the left in page 12 so that the hook latch can land on them already.

Oh and don't put A23 and rubber ring on just yet. You should test your code first. It will take a while for the mechanism to work. Turn the dial according to the instruction and see how P1, P2 and P3 turn. They should all make "click" sound when it's their turn to roll. Your coding is successful when the hook latch land in the slots at the end of the coding. Only then, keep it that way and put rubber ring and A23 on.

@@marzenakrais6357 P1, P2 and P3 kept jumping at first when I tried turning the dial. I used my finger to press the hook against those P's to keep them stay in the gaps when turning the dial. It took a while but eventually they rolled correctly.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with the locking mechanism, in step 6. I rotate the nob, and all 3 wheels rotate, however not at the the same time/lined up correctly, and I have used my fingers to make sure the latch can indeed fall into the slots, which they do. But should the 3 wheels be turning at the same time, so all of the slots on the wheels are lined up and the latch can fall into it every time, or is this just to check that the latch can move freely enough. I dont want to continue on building in case all the wheels are supposed to be moving in unison, which mine are not. I'm sorry that didnt make much sense did it, any help would be great xx

Hello, you meant P1, P2 and P3? First of all, don't put the rubber ring and A23 on yet. When you rotate the knob freely (without putting any pressure on the latch), they will all turn at the same time. When you press the latch against them (the latch shouldn't land in the slots) and do the decoding steps, this is what should happen:

Let's say my password is 278, code 1=2, code 2=7, code 3=8. First you turn 2 circles counterclockwise to code 1, P3 (the closest one to the knob) should turn first, then P2 will turn together, and then P1 will turn as well. At the end, the latch will fall into the slot of P1. Next, you turn 1 circle clockwise to code 2, again, P3 will turn first, then P2, and the latch will fall into the slot of P2 as well. When you turn counterclockwise to code 3, only P3 will turn and now the latch will fall into the slots of P1, P2 and P3. NOTE: you still need to turn the knob a bit clockwise to finally unlock the box, you will see the latch fall all the way back, then it's done.

@@MinimoCreation thank you, I tried this and I think it worked, however I then proceeded foward and added the rubber band and A23, it worked, putting the code in, the latch falling back, then clockwise it falls back fully. But when I go to try reverse it to try put the code in again like the instructions say since its wood and might be stiff at first, the knob doesnt move at all, clockwise or anti clockwise, at all?

@@sophiebell1571 I think it's just stiff. If you can unlock the box, it's nothing wrong with your assembly.

hi so i just got this and i put A10 on the cross knob and i cant line it up with the dial at all, none of the numbers line up

Hello. For A10, I pull the cross wedge out a bit to check the numbers on the knob (from the inside), only then I slide A10 onto the wedge. 2 in 4 edges of the cross always point at 2 numbers, you can use that as the start to line up other numbers. Hi. With your C as 444, I think your P is 314. Just try to make sure you put P1, P2, P3 in correct places. Since your code is not in the unusable code table, I think it will work out.

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot when the rubber band creates too much tension? When we just push with our fingers with gentle pressure it works; but the rubber band pushes so hard that the gears don’t turn correctly.

That's strange because the rubber band in the kit is supposed to have the correct size. Maybe you can try hair tie or mini rubber bands. They are quite thin compared to the rubber band from the kit, so you can use several of them at once.

Hello, For decoding, you may want to test on the knob before putting the rubber ring on. I held the hook latch backwards so that it landed in the gaps, then tried unlocking. By doing that, you will see P1, P2, P3 start turning. I did that a few times until they finally ended up at the same position after being unlocked (like the middle photo of step 7 on page 12).
