I just watched a special about George Harrison last night. Paul McCartney said that both George and Ringo were amazing. Paul and John would write a song and bring it to the group, and having never heard the song, both George and Ringo would just jump right in and add all these guitar and drum parts that always took the songs to the next level. They were as much a part of the Beatles success as John and Paul.

Yeah I saw something recently where Paul was talking about in the beginning the rest of the band were like kids screwing around, and Ringo was the professional, and a huge part of their success. And he has a reputation as a really great guy on top of that... 👍😎

A wonderful song that was written by George Harrison (and then given to Ringo with a song writing credit). That's what an awesome type of friend George was and that's him playing guitar and the solos on this track. You can also check out Ringo doing a song called "Photograph" from his solo career. And note that Ringo also sings several Beatles songs, Rockers like "Boys". Country like "Act Naturally", Kids songs like "Yellow Submarine" and his own songs like "Octopus's Garden".

There's also a recording of George's (original) version of this song, which he gave to Ringo. Ringo took George's vocals off and reduced the level of backing singers (you can barely make out them singing 'Hare Krishna' in the chorus. Ringo didn't want that on his version. George's original version is on youtube.

Well, Ringo, like John, has admitted to being abusive towards a wife while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Thankfully, he cleaned up his act and reconciled with said wife (then his ex) and his been his Ringo-esque self ever since. EDIT: "I came to one Friday afternoon and was told by the staff that I’d trashed the house so badly they thought there had been burglars, and I’d trashed Barbara so badly they thought she was dead. The couple checked into a rehab centre in Arizona, and Ringo has not touched a drop since 1988. On top of his addictions, his life after The Beatles was plagued by misfortune. In 1979, he was rushed to hospital in Monte Carlo with intestinal problems. He almost died and surgeons removed 5ft of intestines."

The missing Beatle is George Harrison. He actually had the biggest selling post-Beatles album, All Things Must Pass. George was the youngest Beatle and was less confident in his songwriting abilities in the beginning. Toward the end he felt that his songs were not given the respect they deserved by John and Paul. One of his greatest Beatles-era songs, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, was completely dismissed until he brought his friend Eric Clapton into the studio to help him record it. All Things Must Pass has several songs that were begun or even completed while George was still with the Beatles but were not put on any album.

They've done 4 reactions to George's songs, 2 as a Beatle, 1 as a Wilbury and 1 solo and I still don't believe they know who he is or his contributions. After their 4th reaction they were asking for more information/songs by him as if they'd never heard of him before.

Ringo is almost 83 and still out there playing, always with a tremendous lineup of friends who are top musicians. He followed this one up with Back Off Boogaloo the next year in 1972. You should give it a listen. He did sing several Beatles tunes, most notably With A Little Help From My Friends and Yellow Submarine. He wrote and sang Octopus's Garden off Abbey Road. I think Photograph was his most popular solo song.

George recorded his version first and used it as a vocal guide for Ringo. In fact many of the tracks on George's were used on Ringo's... i.e. the Hare Krishna's in George's are still in the middle guitar solo - break - they're covered by the added horns in Ringo's. The song as a whole is full of George's signature - i.e. to begin with the opening arpeggios are "Badge" (Cream) like. Many of the musicians used on the song also played on All Things Must Pass. In any measure... this song and Ringo's Photograph are reflecting of the break up of the Beatles.

A bit of post-song research wouldn't come amiss either. For example, I'm not the biggest Beatles fan in the world and didn't know this was a George Harrison song (though I should have guessed, as George is my favourite Beatle) - and I found that out in the very first comment on my screen! If they'd looked up a few facts about the song, oh look, written by George Harrison, wasn't he in the Beatles too, oh look, got to #4 in both the UK singles and Billboard chart . . . Ringo was an underrated drummer & singer. Starr's playing style emphasized feel over technical skill. He occasionally sang lead vocals with the Beatles usually for one song on each album, including "Yellow Submarine", "With A Little Help From My Friends" & "I Wanna Be Your Man". He also wrote and sang the Beatles' songs "Don't Pass Me By" & "Octopus's Garden". He also had a great solo career with the songs "It Don't Come Easy", "Photograph", "You're Sixteen" & "Back Off Boogaloo".

@@asfdadfgdasfh4444 John could be a dick... but it was for the camera. Ringo actually wasn't the best technical drummer, but who cares, his backing for every Beatles song was absolutely spot-on. You can recognize most of their songs just by hearing the drums.

It was 1971....a total hippie vibe from start to finish!😁❤✌

Ringo was always the underrated Beatle, due in some part to his chill laid-back style. He also wasn't one of those drummers who ever wanted a solo. He felt his job was to keep time, keep the beat, not to show off. That's the thing that people have a hard time understanding, Paul and John get a lot of glory for the song writing, but as a band, they were a band, a unit. There was no front man. All four of them sang lead at different times, usually on the songs they wrote. And then all four of them went off to have solo careers, though for the most part I think each one of them always yearned to be back in a band. George Harrison literally said as much when asked why he would be part of the Traveling Willburys. Ringo has been touring with his group Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band for years.

For decades, he has toured with a mix & match supergroup he calls Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band. The idea is that every member comes from a successful band of their own. The lineup changes year to year. They play Ringo's hits of course, but everybody has their own moment to shine onstage. For instance, the keyboardist from Santana sings his songs, Todd Rundgren does his solo stuff, and Ringo's actual brother-in-law Joe Walsh does songs from his Eagles, James Gang, and solo careers. A Ringo's All-Starr Band concert is just hit after hit after hit, no matter who's in the band at the time. And Ringo himself goes between playing drums in the back to fronting the band on a mic.

it was produced by Starr's former Beatles bandmate George Harrison, who also helped write the song, although only Starr is credited. According to Mike Gibbins of the Apple band Badfinger, Harrison offered "It Don't Come Easy" to Badfinger, but they did not take up the offer. Another familiar Harrison device was the Leslie speaker effect on his lead guitar part, particularly in the song's intro.
