Guys, the curly haired guy is Jeff Lynn, HE IS E.L.O. Literally, he was everything with that band, he hired other musicians when touring to do what he did in the studio. He was also the producer for the Travelling Wilbury's as well as producing George Harrison's Cloud Nine album.

Music is so subjective. I love certain voices and hate others. My favourite old-timey voice was, hands down, Nat King Cole. Dean Martin was a close second. Orbison wasn’t high on my list, and I never liked Elvis, but weirdly, I love Aaron Neville’s unique voice. No way to explain it.

The story behind this song is so cool, George and Jeff are in LA, Jeff calls Roy "hey come meet Goerge and let's have lunch", George gets a call, needs a b side to a single for release, now they need a place to record, Bob has a studio in his garage, Roy wants to tag along, George has to get his guitar at Tom's house, Tom tags along, get to Bob's, "What do we write about" George see a box with a sticker, and Handle With Care is born

I chuckle when I think of Roy in the room with these guys, apparently they said to him, “you’re the best voice out of all of us.” Roy simply said “yes.” It’s fascinating to me how much Roy’s voice hits men square in the heart and soul. It never fails. He has a cry in his voice that men know. And they recognize he knows their heart, where their love lies.

When the Traveling Wilbury's debut single was released it did not include the real artist names. but rather their pseudonyms (Nelson, Lucky, Lefty, Charlie, and Otis Wilbury). The super group wanted to remain anonymous for as long as possible after the release of the first single. For radio program directors who weren't paying close attention and shelved the record, or tossed it, soon regretted it. It was a fun project put together by five friends that found success organically. They did not want their famous names to influence the radio airplay. The sound is iconic and, in my opinion, the best band to come out of the 80's.

Jeff Lynne, a co-founder of The Traveling Wilburys in 1989, was the leader, lead singer, and sole song writer of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra 1971-1986). He also produced albums by Tom Petty, George Harrison, and Roy Orbison (to name a few). He also produced the Beatles "Free As A Bird" in 1995. He is one who has always liked his privacy, so you never really heard much about him in the media. He's a musical genius, considered by many to be a shy, quiet, down to Earth, nice, humble, and low key kind of guy. He's an amazing man who wrote "Evil Woman" in 20 minutes while waiting in a studio to record, and who wrote the complete "Out Of The Blue" (1977) double vinyl album in only two weeks after sequestering himself in a chalet in the Swiss Alps!

George Harrison (Beatles) and Jeff Lynne (maestro of ELO… writer, composer, lyricist, singer of EVERY ELO song of which there are many great ones) came up with the idea of getting a group together while talking as friends one day. Each suggested several artists to be in the group, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison, and all agreed. They met at Dylan's house and wrote all the music in a week. Jeff produced the album The Traveling Wilburys”. This super group won the Grammy for best new group for their efforts that year. Every song is an absolute GEM!

I really think that George was the one who was really able to get all of them together. The great part is that they were or became friends during the recording and the sad thing, as has been mentioned in other comments, Roy Orbison was really making a comeback to popularity with this and a solo album that was released around the same time (You Got it is one from that album you should check out) when he passed away. RIP Roy, Tom and George three legends of music.

Mate, you have Tom Petty who is amazing at belting out a chorus, Jeff Lynne has a very solid voice, George Harrison who has a beautiful and relaxed voice, Roy Orbison a powerful, yet soulful beautiful voice and Bob Dylan who is the greatest songwriter of all time that ties them together with Lyrics, but also provides that husky backing to help the others stand out more and they are all great on Guitar.

My favorite Wilburys song!! Please consider these songs from the band members. Tom Petty Learning To Fly. George Harrison When We Was Fab. Jeff Lynne (ELO) Telephone Line. Roy Orbison You Got It. Bob Dylan Positively 4th Street. And the Wilburys have so many other songs worth a listen!! Love you guys... Keep smiling!! 🎶😁🎶

Of course, HAD to Buy the CD! So much good stuff on there, and I enjoyed it all! Of course, all the Artists are Hall Of Fame, esp. Roy Orbison. He goes so far back, and his voice WAS STILL just as great as during his prime! RIP to those we've lost.... They were ALL Special in their Own Way! Yet still came together so well, too.

Roy's voice is just so clean and on pointe. He's definitely the most vocally talented of the group and they wrote with that in mind, making sure there were points throughout the album where it could just shine. I recommend Running Scared for a super powerful and focused performance from him. Jeff Lynne is the curly haired guy and was one of the founding members of ELO and it's main driving force after the first album (well 1 1/2). Check out early Jeff singing with ELO's 10538 Overture, a seminal song in music history.

A related cut worth checking out is While My Guitar Gently Weeps, one of George Harrison's best songs but the version done in his honor at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tribute. Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne on lead vocals. Steve Winwood on organ, Dhani Harrison (George's son) on rhythm guitar and a stunning guitar solo by Prince. This is a legendary live performance!!! A+ video as well.

The song peaked at number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. This song was the first recording made by the group, although it was originally intended as a bonus track on a European single by George Harrison. When he and Jeff Lynne presented the song to Harrison's record company, the executives insisted it was too good for that purpose, a decision that resulted in the formation of the Wilburys.

"Handle with Care" - is the song which brought them together and made that group... George was attempting to make a b-side song for a single, and happened to meet up with the others along the way to do that, he invited them to tag along and hang out. He took the tittle from the words on a box in the corner and wrote the song around it.

The most amazing thing about this band, is how good it must have been for Roy Orbison. He'd had some serious tough times in the 70's, and started to find a bit of renewed success in the 80's, but he's quoted at being astonished that people still wanted to hear him sing. Him, with a voice of liquid gold. On some level I guess he felt his time had already come and gone. But man, did they find the magic to produce this album.

In the 60s, Roy Orbison was the master of the big dramatic sweeping love ballad. His soaring vocals turned every high school romance into Romeo & Juliet in the listener's ear. The Beatles loved his music and toured with him in Europe. His Black & White Night concert and recording started a massive comeback for him in the early 80s, then came this group and suddenly, Roy was at the peak of his fame. Tragically, he died of a heart attack even as his career was soaring again. But then, if you read his biography, Roy's life was full of tragedy. I am a massive fan of his - the greatest voice of the 60s.
