This is how pilots operate flight controls on the A321Neo (Leap1a engines) during take-off and landing. We had a BIRD STRIKE during landing, it did not compromise safety or damaged the aircraft.

I love watching videos like this because it bust a lot of the myths I get on my flight sim forums. One for example is that 80 knots thrust reversers go back to idle. Here, in real life, thrust reverse was deactivated at 30 knots. Way below what I have been stopping at. Thank you for such well made and detailed video.

Alex Howard hi, on A320 aircraft thrust reversers go back to idle at 70kts and are stowed at 30 knots, 25 when the runway is covered in snow.
@thilinadissanayake4550
@thilinadissanayake4550 3 жыл бұрын
In this instance they used only idle reverse not full reverse. If they had used full reverse they would have moved the levers to idle at 70 and stowed at 30. What you saw here was idle reverse being used which is why they were stowed at 30kts.

Mauricio hi, A/THR can handle stronger winds, I set it to off because the purpose of the video is to show flight control movement, also because I like to fly manually. Indeed, hand flown landings are encouraged in the airline to keep pilots proficient

When you say Rotate and the nose goes up, isn’t that an action of the “wheel” in the center in front of the pilots? The yoke doesn’t make the most go up at rotate, correct? But the yoke DOES steer left and right?
@samuelharper9411
@samuelharper9411 4 жыл бұрын
M J the yoke controls the Ailerons (which make the plane turn) and the elevator (which changes the pitch). The wheel by the throttles controls the pitch trim. On the ground steering is controlled by the tiller and sometimes the rudder as well.
@tomstravels520
@tomstravels520 4 жыл бұрын
No. On ground the auto trim is unavailable. On rotation the Sidestick is pulled back which deflects the elevators up and makes the plane climb. A few seconds after rotation the auto trim is available and will then trim the aircraft to the required pitch.
@manikrn007
@manikrn007 3 жыл бұрын
The yoke (or a sidestick in an airbus) is responsible for the rotation during takeoff. When the stick is pulled, it deflects the elevators ( near the tail of the plane) upwards, making the nose wheel of the plane lift up. Once the plane is airborne, then the wheel are retracted, using another lever. Also about turning left and right, on the ground, pilots use the tiller (hand operated) or the rudder pedals (foot operated). In the air, pilots use the ailerons(controlled by the sidestick) and the rudder on the tail (controlled by the rudder pedals) to turn.

Sidestick is generally more comfortable because it gives legroom (Airbus pilots have tables and keyboards in front of them lol) and doesn’t tire you as much because it’s all electronic, almost like a PC joystick with feedback but it feels kinda weird until you get used to it. Edit : Also, no one flies two hands anymore. If you are flying the plane manually you are requiered to have one hand on the yoke/sidestick and one on the power.
@coriscotupi

@@barsdogukankarakoyun8798 *"almost like a PC joystick with feedback"* Airbus sidesticks don't have feedback, they are spring-loaded to center just like PC joysticks. Then again, that may well be why you said "almost". :-)
