Hello there, so I’m the guy who built the Ringling Bros circus train you saw at the show. You can actually see me in the red/maroon jumpsuit and tan hat running it in the background of your shot. So to answer some of your questions, sadly Ringling Bros no longer uses the pair of trains they once had for touring around the US. They dropped the trains in 2017 and now travel by truck. Yes this model is a faithful recreation of the Ringling Bros blue unit train as it appeared between 1995 and the mid 2000s. There are not many recreations in HO scale out there that are as faithful as this one. It took me 4.5 years to build the whole thing. There are indeed elephants on my train, but they ride all the way up front in the stock cars. Glad you enjoyed seeing it!

Was there, extremely crowded but fun at the same time! Was able to snatch a Scotsman model and see the trolley museum that I volunteer at in one of the booths!

Daryl perhaps You and Josh can get together and have his Utah Belt units make a trip across the Evanston Sub like he has done John Parkers Fall River Sub. I hope he is able to get with with Eric Brooman to do the final leg of the trip on the actual Utah Belt.

That 2-8-8-4 locomotive is a DM&IR Yellowstone. The road name is on the tender. It has greater tractive effort than a Big Boy, but less speed.

What I would've given to have been out there, but unfortunately, my work situation prevented me from making the trip. Regardless, my impression from these videos is that it is clear that the American side of the hobby isn't dying like some fear. The interest is there, as is the demand. People just need the incentive, help, or encouragement to make that push and get themselves into the hobby. Of course, that's going to require change, and perhaps looking back in a few areas.

As I commented during the premier the detail of the layouts at the show and yours is fantastic. I wish I had even a part of your ability.

It was great to have meet with you at the train show. I was only there for 6 hours then headed back north. There was a ridiculous amount of eye candy and only had enough time to wander around the first building. Next year though i'll make sure to have two full days. Have a good one Daryl!

Unfortunately the circus train is no more. I did take to and from Austin a couple times and switched it out. A fun and unique experience.
