Looking at the "excursion" train, between the 4014, 844, their auxiliary tenders and the diesel, the locomotive consist is almost as long as the passenger consist :D This stuck out to me owing to my pointing out "classic" Lionel passenger trains where everyone coveted having an A-B-A F-units on the head end and never pulling more than 4-5 coaches with them 🤪
@EvanstonSub11 күн бұрын
There's actually three coaches missing due to an electrical short mishap. But your comment is quite correct none the less.

As mentioned before, inner gaurd rails "that would be smaller gauge rail " would extend both sides of the bridge, " both mains" at least a car length incase of a derailment on the bridge that would prevent as much damage. In the real world.... Just a tip from one railroader to another. Thanks Daryl looking good.... once in a while run some lite engine moves with 6 or more engines just for something different ! Thanks Andy

Very impressive and handsome model of the Union Pacific fef locomotive 844, hopefully I will be able to purchase one of these models for myself in the future as I really love the UP fef class series. Athearn Genesis and BLI have both produced models of the UP fef class Northerns, I want a version of the fef 4-8-4 model in the "greyhound" paint scheme as that scheme is spectacular looking. This was an enjoyable operation session of the UP special excursion train tour and the 844 model is fantastic, Tom.

Not sure of the laws in that state, but in California you're only legally allowed to stop on the shoulders in event of an emergency. The maintenance road would probably be your best bet for photos of the actual bridge and piers.

Was honestly a bit bummed that Daryl decided to dismantle his iconic Geneva Sub awhile back, given that it was easily one the best N-scale layouts ever built. However, this HO scale *Evanston Sub* is simply spectacular. He chose the perfect section of UP's Overland Route to model, and it has already obliterated my high expectations. Have been repeatedly impressed over the past two years. Cheers

Great railroading videos. I'm playing the Powerball so that I can build my master railroad someday. Keep these videos coming. Glad to see you started using a helper diesel with your steam locomotives. Looks more realistic. Thanks.
@zaklex316512 күн бұрын
The diesel with the steam engines was NEVER there to be a helper(it was basically in idle most of the time), first it was there for braking purposes and then it was because of PTC, but now the 4014 has onboard PTC and may or may not need the diesel anymore.

I thought you needed 1 board for each track how are you running that with 3 tracks for one board ?
@LogicRailTech16 күн бұрын
He is using "across the rails" infrared detection rather than the more typical "between the rails" configuration. Regardless of detection method, there is still the operational caveat that a single board does not know there are multiple tracks. IF a second train enters the detection "zone" coming from the opposite direction (while the first train is still present) the single board might not shut off the action when grade crossing is finally cleared by both trains. Ultimately the board's 35 second timeout will kick in and the action will shut off. So, additional boards (the GCP/2 Expander) are highly recommended in order to avoid this behavior for multiple tracks and multiple trains. In the end, it's a choice!
@EvanstonSub13 күн бұрын
I like across the rails also because you don't have stuff between the rails.
