@@fritzwalter1540 Yeah, i think that's the reason why i find first wave punk bands like The Clash, or Stiff little fingers much more interesting than the hardcore punk bands of the 80's, they were more authentic, mixing different sounds and ideas, while having a strong foundation in rock n roll. Thanks, great little tips! I've played rhythm and bass for 35 years, but I'm a singer first and foremost. I now find myself having to play lead on the songs I'm recording, these will help spice things up instead of just going over and over the major and minor pentatonics the whole lead break!

Hey there, found your video by searching for 50s rock n roll licks on google, the search engine has blessed you, lol :D Doing some composition work for some quick jingles, and this was a great refresher on some of the best tools in the 50s rock kit. Only beef with the video was that you introduced your dominant 7 chords as rootless. I work in Jazz and that's pretty standard, but it just dawned on me that, as this video seems to be catered to beginners, rootless named chords might get a bit confusing for them. Maybe throw in a quick disclaimer about the nomenclature of rootless chords? Great video, all in all. Thanks so much.

Hey Baby Blue, sounds like the lesson didn't help. I'm sorry to hear that. There are definitely some Chuck Berry riffs in there. I'd love to hear what other things you'd like to hear discussed - for me Chuck Berry is rock and roll, so maybe I'm biased. @@onlyinmiles9195 It wasn't all Johnny B Goode though! I mean straight away it was a lick based on Carol! I don't think you know much about Chuck Berry, he did have more than one song you know! Plus, the licks here have been used by other guitarists for decades, in many different styles of Rock Music. If you can't benefit from this video, I pity the punters at your gigs! 🤪

Who said RnR was simple? That chromatic stuff over A7/D7/E7 (was it lick 3 or 4?) is genius. It SOUNDS simple and dirty as it should, but....
