Excellent as always. I just did my second (ever) V6 today. A volume on the back wall at Cliffs of Id. My 2018 goal is to fairly consistently hit V6's. However, the more important goal is not nec bumping up levels, rather, I want to improve my overall style and technique to use less energy and to be more fluid.

My goal for 2019 is to send V7 - V8 with some work and to be able to flash some of V5 - V6. From a later video that you did (Nov 27 / 28 2018) I guess that the center of gravity should be at right angles to the "plane" of the best place to grip the sloper.

yo! i have only started bouldering in august last year, but i am pretty passionate about it. I go bouldering 2-3 times a week. My goals for this year are the following: First I want to improve my efficiency by learning to do my footwork precisely and silently, practice not to slip off, using my hips to make some moves more economic, grabbing every hold very precisely so i don't waste energy on readjusting climbing fast and still precisely at the same time, and going with the momentum of my motion so i don't need to use energy for stopping and reaccelerating my body. Also i want to improve my strength, especially in my core and fingers. Furthermore my flexibility needs to get better, unfortunately I feel like I am not really doing the stretching correctly. That's actually one of the reasons why I am quite interested in trying out yoga as a complementary sport. I am psyched to have my first outdoor bouldering experience this summer. I want to visit a lot of new gyms so I can climb on routes that might be a completely different style from what I am used to. Long story short: I want to experience many new and exciting things and do everything to become the best climber I can possibly be :)
@rockentry
@rockentry 6 жыл бұрын
This is all great man! You are aware of your weaknesses and what you need to work on. Yoga oils definitely help. Note outdoors is a lot harder so go easy on yourself if it’s your first time and already used to climbing indoors a lot. Climbing outdoors a lot would alone improve your climbing A LOT! Keep enjoying the sport and keep on progressing my friend. Stay strong!

@rockentry
@rockentry 6 жыл бұрын
Nice man, When it comes to slopers its about finding a sweet spot on the hold ( edges, textured areas, small dents, bumpts etc...) really feel the holds inspect them and then it comes to body positioning good example in this video but I will make a future video to focus on just slopers. Oh, and climb more slopery problems too! hope this helps man and wishing you the best on sending V5's. Stay strong my friend.
@alexanderjang46
@alexanderjang46 6 жыл бұрын
The stronger you get, the more you will be able to utilize your crimp strength. You actually do not palm them like most people believe, but you should be able to press into the sloper as if you are using a crimp. Simply bend your fingers down just like the crimping motion, (which kinda looks like you are clawing the rock) And of course, utilize any edges that may be on it.

it could be to do with the angle of your forearm in comparison to your wrist, possibly try moving your forearm up so that it is more parallel to your wrist (if that makes sense) instead of having your forearm coming down at a harsh angle
