All Terrain on both cars. Size, weight & no diff lock at rear were negatives for Defender. No other car that day- old Fortuner, Pajero Sport, old Thar...could not even dare to enter this obstacle..

@@Anshyuman sir ji- Thar did with less struggle but scraped the bottom with rock while climbing, unsure but is it isn’t the spotter miscalculated wheel direction - should the wheel be on the rock or entirely route would have changed ? As for defender I observed took a different direction may be because of long wheel base

@@Anshyuman You can get the Defender with rear diff lock as an option. However, unless you are doing serious off road it's not required as I've seen other instances where the Defender completely catches the spinning wheel and transfers power to the wheel on the ground. Are you sure it was in the correct off road setting (Rock Crawl) and the settings had been customised to limit wheel spin?

I guess, in the absence of rear lockers, a more aggressive tyre with fatter sidewalls (so that the tyre could be safely deflated more without fearing for ruptures) could have helped the Defender complete this sort of wet muddy rocky obstacle.

The defender is getting issue due to the extra load of rooftop tent...my advise will be to create a lock mechanism by which he can keep the tent at home when not in use...telling this from personal experience...

The defender needs soft throttle inputs. I think Anshuman should haemve tried. The electronics of the Defender are amazing in isolation but in comparison, I think they should have atleast given the car 3 diff locks.

Defender is pretty capable for what it is (luxury cross over suv), and thar is pretty capable for how much it is (roughly 11-15 lakhs inr)

Doesn't it have all the off road gizmos from the other land rovers? also, I think the camera doesn't do justice to the slope. in reality it must be actually quite steep right? lol these videos are so interesting man 😅😅

ICE SUVs with longer wheelbase have sliding issue in situation when a lever is created with front wheels as a fulcrum. Electric SUVs like Ford F150ev or Hummer ev will be having more advantage as the heavy weight battery & motors are mostly at the middle and under the whole SUV. In ICE SUVs the heavy engine lies in the front which changes the centre of Gravity when car is climbing horizontally or tilted on a climb with big boulders and less traction.

Suspension geometry and cv angles wont allow a 4 inch lift + if someone were to design it even with diff dropdown kit and all, Thar would be so topple prone. All these kind of mods are for solid axle vehicles like Wrangler or even Jimny or old school Gypsy

We usually use "driver" and "passenger" to tell which way to turn instead of left and right, which is confusing as driver's left is spotter right.

It was pretty impressive the way Thar handled the obstacle. I noticed that the underbody scraped at 1 point. Does the vehicle have underbody protection as well or only radiator guard?

Thar only has bash plate but if someone is into hardcore off-roading there are many aftermarket options which costs around 25-30K which provides full underbody protection from front to end.

Bruhhhh Compare both with 3 door version cuz its definitely the long wheelbase which handicapped the defender. Why did you up the suspension fully in the first part for defender? Why does the defender have extra luggage overhead? The wheels on the defender were too small

You need guts to rip 1 crore car in bad off road, I was thinking defender will cross that obstacle but couldn't, probably longwheel base was negative for defender

Anshuman - I guess it is best to have ONLY one spotter give commands. The driver needs to have full faith in the spotter and should train to understand the right amount of steering as per command or visual signs. With too many people shouting commands - the drivers who are learning and training to optimally use the full capabilities of their respective vehicles get confused. To command is an art and in off-roading - THE SPOTTER is the most important link to negotiate the obstacles. You do a lot of off-road, and have been to places far and remote - and you have have learned to fully command your equipment (RESPECT). Create some SOP for your new entrants and there is no harm in learning and doing a class or two in a cafe before people get on the ground. CHEERS. Some day will join your class.
