"Every day that you feed me with hate I grow stronger" is maybe one of the best lines ever written in a rock song. Period!

He says "drink". The rolled "r" is from the character, as they're all supposed to be italian. This music is like an open letter to the former ghouls that sued him. There's a line dedicated exclusively to Simon, who was a long time friend of Tobias and the first person to join the band right at the beginning. But after he and the other ghouls left the band, he started to talk a ton of bad stuff about Tobias. This line: "But of all the demons I've known, none could compare to you." Then the chorus for the ghouls that sued him: "Everyday that you feed me with hate I grow stronger. Drink me, eat me, then you'll see the light." Basically saying to them: "while you're there going nowhere trying to take me down, I become more and more relevant. Learn from me and maybe you're gonna be somebody eventually". And, of course, he managed to put a damn fight so beautiful and poetically into a wonderful song.

Fun fact about the cover...there are at least 5 variants, all with minor differences, and it all relates to where some of the horses are.

The girl singing on "Ashes" is Tobias's daughter! She also did some backing vocals on Impera. Her twin brother does guest vocals on Ghost's Blacklist cover of "Enter Sandman", and they've both been in the "Chapter" videos, though being twins, I have no idea which is who. Take Your Kids To Work Day must be a hell of a lot of fun in the Forge family! As for the rolled r's, I think it's a Tobias/Papa-character thing. Something that the Papa's do because of their accent (whatever it's supposed to be!), and that Tobias does because he thinks it sounds cool. Which it totally does.

As you already know, Ghost's lyrics often have more meanings, but one of the topics throughout the album is often interpreted as Tobias writing about the former ghouls who sued him and lost. This song doesn't seem too subtle in that respect 😆. Man, I cannot wait for your Miasma reaction. It's so damn good! 🤘

There a two instrumentals in this album… “Miasma” and “Helvestensfönster” and they’re so beautiful. “Miasma” is groovy and funky. “Helvestesfönster” is just absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait for you to hear those.

I will never forget the first time I heard Ghost. I was working in my office listening to Pandora (I think it was 2014) when it randomly came on. I immediately perked up and said "Who is this?!" There was something exceptionally special there and I recognized it instantly. I never looked back. I can't think of a single other band for whom I can say each album has gotten progressively better (personal opinion, I realize I'm in the minority here). Most bands have a couple early albums for which they are known and subsequently spend years trying to recapture that magic to no avail (Metallica comes to mind. For me, everything after ...And Justice For All just pales in comparison). Ghost doesn't have a bad song. That alone puts them on a very short list. The fact that they continue to evolve and improve, not rest on their laurels, not iterate and derive like basically everything I hear on the radio these days, tells me that they are the stuff of legend. I'm so glad that I discovered them and look forward to experiencing everything that comes next.

Just discovered Ghost this year, and Prequelle is my favouritte album. Love every song on the album

This song lives in my head rent free. One of my absolute favorite ghost songs. It feels like James from Dream Theater could sing this. It feels very much like a DT song. You will also notice that the drummer lets go much more on this album than those in the past. So much love for this album. Keep up the great reactions, I really enjoy watching your excitement as you experience Ghost.

I am always so happy to see your journey thru the ghost discography, but I've been the most excited for prequelle, it's my personal favorite album! I will say that the next track, Miasma, is totally instrumental but it should NOT be skipped!!!!!! I hope you will enjoy it because it's most certainly one of my favorite tracks 😄

Finally you get to Prequelle - a masterpiece album and a highly under appreciated one that is. See the light is actually the Ghost song I most often feel like skipping, until I remember that killer Pink Floydish synth section, with the harmonizing guitars taken you in to the break and last chorus. I think my problem with this song is that the vocal production sounds undeveloped compared to the rest of the "quieter" songs on the album. They sound kinda copy pasted, where only the 2 verses stand out with some sort of uniqueness. I think if female backing vocals as from Rats and Faith, had been sparkled on Tobias, and then put some more effort into some variations of the the chorus, it would have served the song well. Next up Miasma - always makes me want to play Dire Straits and watch Lethal Weapon 2. What a fantastic instrumental and just as good live, where they even do the Dire Straits move😉 I remember your expression when you watched the start of the Dance Macabre video - So I'm looking forward to your reaction on Miasma✌

Yes I love Prequelle soooooo much. Miasma is amazing, and I cannot wait till you get to my other fave (besides Dance Macabre) Witch Image. So, despite the lyrics to this song referencing the lawsuit, just like all Ghost stuff, the lyrics also have a biblical meaning - drink me, eat me, refers to the part of the church that’s called communion. The body and blood etc. I also immediately thought of Alice In Wonderland. I love your Ghost reactions as I’ve said. Happy holidays man!!

This is my favorite Ghost album although I love them all and Cirice is my favorite song… but I am excited for whenever you have listened to the entire album so that your can listen to them in order. The concept of “plague” is woven elegantly from beginning to end with musical cues that tie the album together. Helvetensfonster is my favorite instrumental because it is so haunting although Miasma is incredible.

Prequelle is the best Ghost album to me. It is perfect from start to finish. It has more great melodies than earlier albums, and it is not as poppy as Impera.

This song really is the feud of the ghouls that ended up, suing him and his feelings towards all that are. Faith had some lyrics that called back to the lawsuit as well.

Prequel was, for me, a bit of a let down after Meliora. There are some great moments on it, for sure, but I often skip past the first half of the album. The lyrical bitterness at his former bandmates seems like airing dirty laundry to me. The up side is many of the songs have a plague / loss theme. BEFORE COVID! It was eerie that this arrived right before the pandemic. I think Witch Image is my favorite on this. Oh, the bonus track, Avalanche, is a really solid Leonard Cohen cover. Cheers!

I checked out ur band's music and I love it. Whether someone sings or not. And Miasma is absolutely badass. I can certainly say that if u like Prequel this much, ur mind will be fucking blown when u start Impera. Can't wait!

This song is probably the weakest of the album. He's singing "Drink me, eat me, then you'll see the light". The lyrics are basically talking about the ex band mates that sued him hahahah The next song is an instrumental, and it has a very neat surprise by the end of it!

Drink me, Eat me, Then you'll see the light! In reference to wine being the blood of Christ, and bread being the body of Christ.
