This Rocket League video covers everything you will need to know about flicks in tutorial and analysis style up until you get VERY advanced with them. I've watched many tutorials on this topic before but none of them go into as much detail as I do in this video, in my opinion.

This video took a very long time to make. I got the idea during some coaching sessions when some players asked for tips on how to flick in Rocket League. They said they had seen plenty of tutorials on flicks before but none of them ever really explained flicks in the same way that I did and they all instantly had much more success than ever before after the tips I gave them. After going through that same experience with teaching flicks multiple times, I figured it was definitely time I make a Rocket League flick tutorial so everyone could learn from the same tips that I gave to those students that had so much success. No matter if you're bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, champion, or grand champion, chances are, you can learn a lot from this video. I hope you enjoy!

Your idea about cradling the ball is exactly the kind of thing I needed to hear. I've been struggling with consistency on flicking the ball. I've been following the advice of most others, which is to hold down jump so my car stays with the ball, but it wasn't always working out. Now I also need to work on dribbling, but I think it's good enough at this point to be able to work on flicks so I can pull them off in a game. Anyway, I think your idea of cradling the ball is going to make a difference for me. I tend to only tap jump anyway so now I just need to work in the movements for the cradle. Great work Wayton! Keep it up, man!

I mean, being consistent with them is pretty difficult. Anyone can dribble in soccer with 5 minutes of practice and shoot the ball decently. More of like a skill floor

@@Calebanton Do you know what consistent means
@Calebanton
@Calebanton 3 жыл бұрын
@@lleytonyang9207 I don't get what you're trying to say. Dribbling and the mechanics around it have a much higher skill floor to get a baseline consistency in rocket league. In soccer, you can get consistent faster, but your shots will be bad compared to a higher-level player. That's how a skill floor works
@lleytonyang9207
@lleytonyang9207 3 жыл бұрын
Caleb1243 I disagree and I believe that getting CONSISTENT shots in soccer is so overlooked and people are always like “it’s just kicking a ball” when it’s really not. Obviously a person could kick a ball consistently but they couldn’t dribble with skill consistently in soccer.
@Calebanton
@Calebanton 3 жыл бұрын
@@lleytonyang9207 I said the skill floor is high. I can go into a field and can dribble the ball downfield and kick it into the net 10/10 times with 0 practice. Not possible in rocket league, so rocket league has a higher skill floor

Looked into your account and noticed that you don't have a air dribble guide. I really want to learn that mechanics and looked also dozens of videos about it but it is kind of random with the setup. If I randomly do the setup correctly I can pull off the air dribble mechanics and I think it is like it is with Flicks. Your key point the "cradle" was the one thing that boosted my flicks so hard. Maybe you can do a video like this one for air dribbles / ceiling shots or other mechanics as well
