Thanks for the video. We love our MX5400. It gets used every workday (we bought it in 2022 and it already has 900 hours on it). 0% financing, unbeatable insurance policy, and an incredible service department. Since we use it in our business, we can't afford break downs, because they will cost us far more than the repair cost. It moves a lot of weight everyday. We attached logging tongs to the 3 point hitch. It has lifted and dragged 6,000 pound logs. When you purchase this tractor, you are getting more than a tractor. You are getting the whole Kubota ecosystem and support structure behind it. Based on our experience with the machine, it is worth every penny.

I have an L3560, and I haven't found a project/job that it hasn't been able to handle. So far, that is!

My grandpa bought Kubota when I was a kid, a Kubota b9200 which was the first I had seen the hydrostatic transmission and that tractor is still in the family and has never skipped a beat. I tried hard to buy it from my cousin but he refused and that’s how I ended up with a L2850. I’m willing to bet both will out live me.

I love my Kubota MX 5400 HST cab tractor. Just over 500 hrs on it & I’ve had zero issues. Kubota is the real deal in today’s tractor market.

I worked for Kubota at one time as a tech. I can say over other brands we serviced Kubota had less pushback for warranty. Basically take pics write a report, and order replacement parts / install. It was really easy and we didn’t have to fight for the customer. However you pay for all that. I went to an LS dealer near me due to your videos on them, and no one in the dealership could answer any technical questions for me they were digging through pamphlets the whole time. I’m not knocking them as i think they are new at carrying LS. With that said I wouldn’t buy a new Kubota id look at auctions and buy there, these days I don’t spend top dollar and usually don’t finance anything. Looking good Brock, your looking a lot healthier you can even hear it in your voice. Good stuff man.

Great video. I bought an l2501 back in 2020. Handles 6’ attachments very well. Dealers and specs recommend 5’ but they mainly do that for suggestions.

My kubota is 3 cyl diesel. It is 30 years old. Works great for us.

Consider buying used. I got a m6040 which is a 60hp Kubota with cab, preemissions that runs perfectly for $30k. Pre-emissions. It will probably last forever…

The Kubota loader model number is the kg that it will lift to full height. While not exact, multiply this by 2.2 to get a very close conversion to weight in pounds. I have a BX24 & L5030. I’m constantly amazed at what my BX does-especially the backhoe. I frequently use it to unload logs from my trailer. I have the L5030 for two specific reasons: lifting and moving IBC totes of firewood, and grapple usage (predominantly trees). I use an outdoor wood boiler for heating my house, so I’m constantly working with firewood.

Great series on the "real world" shopping for a 50-ish hp cab machine! Been shopping myself in this exact category... When you're down to the final decision, I find a LOT can be learned about quality and longevity looking at "old inventory" or testing "used" machines in my target category sitting on the dealer lots to see how the valves and drivetrain "feel" after use. Good to visit another dealer in the brand as well to cross-check. Rusting fittings, fading and/or lots of chalky plastic surfaces tell a lot about how that shiny new machine is going to hold up.

After putting 20 hours on my B26 backhoe with the 24/25 hp it runs stronger the longer you run it without stopping in the middle of a work day. Was able to put it through some quick runs with loader filling bucket completely as well putting it through some heavy drags with a heavy loads of dirt and gravel under a torque at slow speeds was grading gravel and top soil over a 1/4 acre area. Then took out and dug a 6’ deep 12’ dia. Fire pit with in minutes dug through tough Ga red clay with easy and yes it rained two days before all of this work happened. Kubota is number one for me and koyote and Deer are my second yet you showed the other brand yanmar and it probably tops second above koyote and deer but a buddy told me the koyote is similar to Kubota with heavier lift capabilities. Idk I just know I’m loving my B26 and I’m definitely not disappointed. Thanks for sharing bud and enjoy hearing your thoughts on these larger tractors. My next one will probably be a bigger thought before investing so much.

I bought my first new tractor last year. I purchased a LX2610 with a loader, belly mower and box blade. I’ve since added a grapple because I bought a unit that had a third function already installed. I don’t regret a single thing about my purchase and I’m aware it was on the pricey side, but you can’t beat the reliability and service. And the thing just sips diesel. I like the treble pedal, it helps to have size 12 boots or larger for it to really be easy to use. You’d be very happy with the MX, but if I were you I’d see what they have available in their Grand L series.

I have a 2020 MX6000 Cab and a 22’ 1025R. Love both tractors the Kubota is more reliable over 300 hrs with 0 issues. The Deere has broke down more than once with only 110 hrs.

I own that exact tractor. 450 trouble free hours. They are expensive. But you gotta weigh the price vs the headache of lower quality brands. The price difference has grown significantly in the last few years although. They are getting to a point where they may price themselves out of most people’s price range. I plan on keeping mine for years to come

Brock, I bought a Kubota MX5400 gear drive open station with 3 rear remotes third function backhoe with a 18” bucket 3 sets of wheel weights and rim guard in the rear tires and block heater. I bought it one year ago. The dealer is only 4 miles away and I have known the owner for years. He gave me a fantastic price 55,000 . I love the tractor. It works great for me.

I love my kubota but if I were looking to purchase a tractor today I would go with something else that was less expensive with the extra hydros. I don't why kubota doesn't come standard with the extra hydros.

I think for most folks as you said about the Stihl, it's a lifetime purchase. Pick a brand you like that has a dealer close by that are reliable whether you buy new or used. My Deere dealer is 35 minutes from my house. Never changing from Deere. Multiple brands have been in and out of the formerly Kubota dealership down the street. Glad I went Green .

I would not sway from John Deere, kubota, or kioti in my opinion. My parents have a mid 2000’s Kubota that’s around 1200 hours. I did a service for them recently. It was 750 hours overdue for a service and the last time the air/fuel/oil had been changed was 2005. Zero issues other than dry rotting since 2003. My L2501 has been flawless and same with my kx040. I like that they use their own motors as well

I have the MX 5100 same tractor just older gear drive . I love it very well made . The only thing I see an issue is the front hubs . They just don’t hold up over time . But it’s an easy fix . I do not like where the PTO switch is on the new 5400 .

Brock, i purchased my first tractor 4 years ago, and it was a Kubota L2501. Excellent machine. Bug i find myself now owning a Kioti CK2610. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Kubota, but I gained lift capacity with the loader and on the three point, and I would argue that i have a much more comfortable operator platform. I will admit that the hydraulic circuit in the Kubota was light years ahead of my Kioti with it's silky smooth dual function ability, but I'm not operating for a living. I got what I consider to be a comparable quality machine, with more capability, for $3500.00 less. Cannot go wrong with the Kioti brand.

Absolutely 110% for kabuta they stand by the warranty iv owned m 7060 open and closed cab tractors currently own cab mx 5400 also lx 3310 plus z42 zero turn As a small farm you wont be disapointed as a big farm you wont be disapointed, also owned a case 75c and was not impressed at all with there 2 year warranty!! Also don't shy away from the mx5400 standard clutch they shift amazing smooth less whining! and for me has more torque!!

You are looking great - keep up the hard work. I'm on my own journey with this. Down a bit, backup up and working to get back down! I'm a Kubota guy (B2650). When I bought in 2017 I did a ton of research. I'm a fan of quality, reliability and integrated engineering (making their own stuff, using their own stuff within the same machine). There are several good alternatives which I could have bought and would have worked just fine. However, I found and still believe Kubota is like my Toyota vehicles in that they are simply the best. I may pay more - I'd argue this is too subjective to be a real issue. My support has been great though really not used. I damaged my front-end loader and rear fender. Filed a KTAC claim with my dealer. No questions, no pushback, no delays - paid my small deductible. Within 4-6 weeks they had installed a new loader and rear fender .... again, let me say that I was at fault. I didn't like the treadle pedal when I first got it. Now I find it very convenient. Wish I had a bit more space where my feet go as I have big feet. I'm considering upgrading to a L3902 or the L4060LE just cause I want a slightly bigger frame with more weight. That said, all I need is my B2650 .... it's a want, not a need.

The loader owner's manual sets the loader limit by front axle capacity, so take that into consideration when talking about the "lift" numbers

They deserve a more premium price, but that is an incredible difference.

After watching these comparison videos, I have to admit the new tractors have some advantages over my 1952 Ford 8N. For example, my 8N has a three point lift capability of 800 pounds, on a good day. But my little 8N does what I need it to do. Grades my gravel road, skids logs to the firewood cutting station, scoops dirt and gravel, and is easy to maintain. I could have purchased a 25 HP modern tractor, but I only put 50 hours a year on my tractor. The interest earned on the cost difference paid for the 8N in 36 months. Enjoying the videos, Brock. My advice is buy the lowest cost machine that will do what you need it to do. The savings will more than make up for any repair that might be necessary. All of the tractors you have reviewed are good machines.

One really should consider tractor residual value after some years of service. Re-sale value need not be the deciding factor, but it is a factor. Used tractor price checking on Marketplace will help drive home that point. Resale price gap may not totally off-set new OEM pricing between tractor brands, but it's helpful to know. In my area there's a large & reputable AG dealer that sells/services new/used farm equipment, mostly for dairy farmers. Much of what they deal in is very large harvest and manure handling equipment. They also sell new 'hobby' class tractors, mostly units 60hp and under. I'm a little bothered that they've switched between various imported tractor brands several times over the past 20yrs. I don't know if they've ever left their tractor buyers 'orphaned' when they switched tractor colors, but I would have that concern.

I love Kabota and it's an American made company. That said, we have a small front loader. It is the most worthless piece of equipment. It has trouble limiting up an empty bucket and frequently cannot lift loads. Make sure your lifting power is adequate for your needs. However, it is reliable and never breaks down...

We got a little 75 hp Kubota we use it pack silage bush hog and push manure we have just about worn it out

Have you done anything with the RK equipment? The service part, as I understand it, doesn't thrill me. But maybe all models require you to take the machine to them.

While I do love a Kubota, my size 15 muck boots HATE a treadle pedal so I opt for gear drive every time. Give me dual pedals and I'm a much happier guy. :)

Kubota also builds their own loaders in house also not just the physical tractor, part of why they say they are performance matched. I think one measurement that often gets lost in comparisons is the lift capacity to 1.5M. 90% of the people who buy or operate any equipment from CUT to CTL or even pay loader aren’t lifting 100% capacity to full height. Any machine that can lift 2,300 pounds or more to full height will lift 3k or more to 1.5M or even 2M. For most practical reasons that’s the number most people should pay attention to that will help them from spending way more on a machine than you really need. Even the bobcat salesman mentioned that in your video!

I want to upgrade my JD 1025r and have looked at the MX 5400 but dislike the skateboard treadle peddle. 😮 I think I could get use to the smaller 60 series peddle and the loader control… I like them on the fender and hate them up near the steering wheel.

The other very important factor is the dealership and their service department. Regardless of brand, be careful who, you buy from. Sometimes spending more is worth it in the long run and sometimes spending less ends up a wise move as well.

I think one of the reasons we're seeing the higher prices on a Kubota is because most of them are produced in America. To quote an article: "Kubota America produces more than 100,000 units every year at its Georgia facility. More than 2,300 employees work in Kubota America and make Kubota tractors for sale within the United States and beyond. Some of the Kubota tractors made in the Georgia facility are exported worldwide." They are, in fact, made 30 miles from me. And they're opening a new building soon called the Kubota Loader Manufacturing Facility.

Kubota does not sell the MX5400 in Australia, most probably because the Australian government has not imposed anti pollution requirements on tractors. I have a MX5200 which is what they sell here. I did not pan to buy this tractor. I wanted to buy a smaller machine. However when tractor shopping in 2021 this was the only tractor available. So we bought it. I like the big front wheels. Especially with the loader off the tractor looks good. I like its power and it’s smoothness. To be honest it did not cost much more than a smaller tractor when we bought it. We were planning to buy a smaller Mahindra tractor but the deal fell through for lack of supply. It cost I think $36k (this is Australian dollars so it costs more). We then bought the MX5200 for $10k more. However it’s a bigger machine, has two rear hydraulic remotes, a canopy and a 500kg counter weight.

Truly 17k financed over 5 years less than 300 a month in these comparisons, however it’s really not apples to apples comparison even when in the same category. They all deliver a bit different in their own way even in the same “category”. Something else to consider is not only longevity and reliability but the holding its value through the “centuries”…when time to sell if you do the Kubota will have a higher resale value than all others. I like the Kubota I had, smooth operation,but didn't like the lift capacity or the Regen. I looked around and finally got a Mahindra. Lot less money and stronger than the Kubota. It's not as smooth operating as the Kubota, but that's a small price to pay. Also no Regen. I have had it for 5 years now and the only problem l have had 1 switch went bad. Might be worth taking a look at.

The MX is really in the utility class. Or between compact and utility. Is it a cat 1 or cat 2 three point hitch? Maybe it can come set up either way…? The grand L is a premium compact tractor. The L4802 is the basic compact, but has much less loader capacity. The price on the MX is more attractive than the high HP grand L tractors if you don’t need or want the bells and whistles. One thing about the high loader capacities on others - it’s one thing to have a winning spec sheet. It’s another to have a machine durable enough to handle that much load day-in-and-day-out. That kind of capacity can really stress the front axles and such, especially without proper ballast. I’m looking at new tractors too and I looked at the operator manual for a TYM 494 last week, and I thought it was lacking in several ways, particularly regarding discussion of ballast and max axle loads. The English wasn’t the best either. Kubota and Deere manuals are usually good and thorough, and dealer support is also usually strong.

Gave all major brands the chance. Bought a Kioti . Much more bang for the buck.

Just sold a L4802 I didn't like it at all. Picked up a 20 year old Branson that has more features and is great.

I bought a Mahindra. Brock. Take a look at the common rail diesel system on these tractors. No filters or emissions. Just an idea.

Kubota and John Deere have weak loader lift capacity. They do that on purpose to encourage buyers to upgrade in tractor HP and frame size. I'm retiring to my farm in June and will be purchasing a TYM/ Branson 3620 with a 2700 lb fel capacity.

Doesnt kioti measure lift at the pivot pins where as kubota measures it 500mm out or something like that? I recall this when researching the specs of the cheaper tractors. When i saw this, i immediately wrote them off. As an engineer, i need to have confidence in the specs to reflect real world scenarios.

Don't just look at the price difference as 'X' dollars, look at the percentage of purchase. When the Kubota or Deere, are 30-50% more expensive...

I would never buy a Kubota. My brother spent $60k + on a brand new Grand L (paid CASH, no financing). It took a while to get but when he called THE FACTORY to get a status, they yelled at him and hung up. When the tractor got in, they delivered it with stuff missing other than the back ordered back hoe. When the dealer got the PAID FOR back hoe in, they tried to DEMAND MORE MONEY. Watching how they treated my brother, I sure as heck won't give them my business. The same guy owns all the Kubota dealerships in Eastern Washington. I am going to keep telling this story because Kubota sucks.

Need to be careful with draw bar connected PTO powered equipment on the Kubota tractors. Kubota has the PTO output shaft too close to the draw bar - not enough vertical separation. TTWT ran into troubles with this in at least one video with a Kubota tractor.

You can price a 4052M john Deere right now and you should be a around 41-42 thousand. Some places has incentives going right now that will knock off a couple thousand. That's a tractor and loader.

Where is this tractor that it’s so high? I just bought a new MX6000, added two rear remotes and 3rd function valve and price was $42,000 in MS. This tractor is $10,000 more and is the size below.

The listed capacity vs the real world application on lifting capacity with kubota seems to be a bit different. I think they error on the low side compared to some other manufacturers. There are plenty of videos with L525/526 loaders that are lifting above their listed capacity to full height.

I think your pricing might be off a little. 3 weeks ago I purchased a MX5400, exactly like the one in your video. 38k. You have to shop different dealers. Kubota doesn't set the price the dealer does.

Awesome job on this one, Id share this, to make a point, lets do Mahindra, vs Kubota.. ( for big contrast ) you may pay more for the Mahindra over time, than the Kubota, with repairs. That is kind of my paradigm. If I pay more up front, and the equipment never fails ( as in needing dealer service ), that value can be transferred, from the other paradigm of parts and labor spent on a less well designed/unreliable machine that needs regular repairs due to being built " light " or " cheap ". Then there is the loss from down time, and transporting, rentals if required, etc. Food for thought. Pay now, or pay later, if you pay now, life can be allot smoother and more structured. I bought a 2019 SSV75, has 900hrs now, has yet to need any kind of repair ( I do forestry work with it ) and a supporting L Series Tractor from 2020, zero repairs on it ( runs a full time root rake/grapple ) save for physical damage. I think Kubotas lower ratings are due to their more conservative approach, and not trying to " compete " so much with the other brands. I also worry about long term parts support. I have looked at LS, Kioti, NH, Ive owned deere and Yanmar. Kubota is my sweet spot, your mileage may vary. Should also mention, Im a mostly retired automotive/heavy truck tech. Might have to do with where my frame of reference comes from. Buy stuff that works. Kubota also enjoys aftermarket parts support and accessories guessing do to build numbers. Nice that you mention the Kubota factory insurance, strong selling point for me. Keep up the good work !

Would buy a Kubota over John Deere

What is the parts availability on those other brand machines 5, 10, 20, 30 years down the road? VS parts availability on a Kubota, John Deere, LS, etc. Oftentimes you'll find those lesser quality brand machines don't have great parts availability even when the machines are in production, let alone a few years after production ceases of that model....weigh your pricing versus ability to repair and maintain the equipment down the road....who cares if you save $10k up front, if you can't get a $200 part 5 years from now, you got yourself a $30k lawn ornament because you decided to be a cheap ass up front and get a low quality low sales numbers piece of equipment....same thing goes for attachments and implements. Buy once cry once as they say....its up to you what color you want, but keep in mind, sometimes saving a few bucks up front costs you dearly in the future. I bought a Kubota because the John Deere salesman was well, not a salesman....he literally told me I couldn't afford a John Deere 1 series machine....that told me they don't want my business, went down the road to the Kubota dealer and bought my BX2680....I've had it for almost 3 years, 104 hours and no problems with it at all. I have a great dealership, a couple of them actually and great sales and service departments at both Kubota dealers, although they are competitors of each other, both of them have been extremely helpful and I can go to either dealership for parts, service, and attachments very easily.... Doesn't matter which color your buy, at some point you need parts, service, or some attachments. If you bought because of color, you may find you lack the support from the dealer in the future....its better to buy your dealership than it is to buy a tractor LOL. In my case I've got 2 dealerships that sell Kubota machines within 4 miles of each other, granted they compete for sales, but if one of them doesn't have something I need, they have no problems telling me ot check the other dealer.

Cost is important but it's not the only consideration. Where the tool is made, who the company is that makes it, and the reputation they've earned are also important factors. If Kubota (and John Deere, but I've never used one) is akin to being the Snap-on of tractors/equipment then I'm willing to pay the premium for a tool that has earned it in their engineering, quality of production, support, and longevity. If I buy a cheap tool and it fails during usage, I'll be mad from the frustration of the failure (and associated time/energy/money for replacement) but I will be more mad at myself for being an initial cheapskate. Buy once, cry once.

For that price it had better cook my dinner and polish my boots while I'm brush hogging...

Kubotas are too light in the rear end, lack loader capacity and I hate that stupid treadle petal. Those are the reasons I looked at but didn’t buy a Kubota. Looked at Bobcat (Kioti) and TYM and purchased the TYM. To me the TYM was 20k cheaper then the Kubota and was a lot heavier and had a lot more features.

My answer is, NO. The inflated price can't be justified in service, performance or reliability. They are good, but the artificially inflated price will continue until the consumer walks away from that brand and it hurts their profit.

I would never buy a Kubota they are overrated in my opinion. Plus from my experience with a local dealer here, their dealer support sucks. My inlaw bought a Kubota from a dealer a few hours away because he decided he needed one for a project he was doing on a piece of property he owned 1/2 hour down the road from that dealer he brought the machine home and had issues with it and the locale dealer wouldn't give him the time of day because he wasn't a tractor customer but yet he was a parts and utv customer didn;t matter the tractor didn't come from them

L5018 sold in Philippines, because its sold in agricultural stores, they have no available Kubota backhoe model available, looking for a backhoe model that fits L5018, part number for subframe? Kubota marketing to not have a backhoe for the L5018 is flawed stragety.
