As someone who got into MC just this year, it sucks it's dead as a franchise. The racing genre really needs good games like this to exist!

Ah, a game from the time when R* actually released games. Things like the cop system where you can drive off when getting ticketed or the different types of events (e.g. car deliveries, pink slip races), as well as a decent story (especially in terms of racing games) truly made this game awesome!

For a late 2000s game, the grapgics of MCLA really have aged very well. This along with GTA 4 proved on how advanced Rockstar Games were at that time.

Hello dove, in MCLA, the tire profile, ride height alongside tire dimension can actually affect your car's grip. Modifying them can make your car grippier and helps to reduce body roll for better cornering

As someone who is relatively new to racing games overall, I've always heard good things about MCLA and how fond people are of it. It's sad that such a game was left to the pages of history considering the amount of people who would like a remaster or sequel of these titles. Great video as always, it's always nice getting to know more about games I don't know about. Props to you and your editor for this cool video!

This and MC3 also do something that is weirdly lacking in NFS: Unique custom parts. The game managed to license only a few bodykit options, so the rest are entirely made up by the devs, some of which look rather good too. So.. why doesn't NFS do this? The bodykit options for the NSX NA1 and R32 in Heat was rather disappointing, and now they lost all licensed parts for the R34 outside of the Nismo kit. They used to do mostly fantasy parts, so why did they stop all of a sudden if the car customization is meant to be a major selling part? If you can't get real kits, then make up your own that take inspiration from real ones.

Midnight Club Los Angeles is such a gem of a game. It's one of the reason I decided to start a KZfaq channel, and only increased my love for cars more. It does so much that newer games can't don't do today. I still play MCLA to this day and is exactly how I remembered it. The day where it will be completely perfect to play on RPCS3 and Xenia is where all racing fans achieve inner peace.

I remember playing this wayyy back on the Xbox 360 and feeling like it was an amazing looking racing game. It even included the all new Chevrolet Camaro (the famous Transformers car) and I even got to own one for a bit some years later. That car was all the rage in a society with a huge car culture.

Ohhhh how I wish Rockstar would give Midnight Club another go. 😢 I mean people love Rockstar's games, they've probably become the single most trusted developer when it comes to the quality of their games. And thats only become more true since 2008. So I dont see why they wouldnt do it. There's absolutely a market for a Rockstar Racing game and I would probably get it on Day 1 for the reasons mentioned above. Thanks for giving me nostalgia feels, Dove ❤

It is a good time to bring this franchise back. Racing games have had a small resurgence. Forza is on top, NFS is finally trying to do something, The Crew has the best maps for now, Test Drive Unlimited, the former king of the genre, is returning. All of these franchises have their strengths and weaknesses, but Rockstar makes games like no one else can, and when it comes to open world, they are on top of everyone.

I remember buying MCLA on a whim because it was cheap on an Xbox Sale. Knew nothing about the franchise as a whole as I'd only really been into Forza Horizon 1 at that point. One hell of a surprise to me, still some of the most fun I've ever had playing Racing games.

The Midnight Club games were great, but it always felt like they were in the shadow of the Need For Speed Underground games. Street racing was huge, with the release of Fast and Furious, and that game captured it early on.

I started playing midnight club Los Angeles for the first time! ❤ It is a crime that Rockstar stopped developing dedicated racing games! I get why these were so popular now!

Midnight club was actually a defining piece of media in my childhood. It is single handedly the most nostalgic franchise for me. My family at that time in the early 2000s we're building cars for drag racing and my step father made sub woofer boxes and installed sound systems for people, so I was actually a kid when the DUB craze was in the car scene (rhe magazine even came in the mail in my house) i saw cars with dub plates and spinners and shit in real life all the time bc these we're the car's people wanted the biggest banging systems in... So its no surprise that midnight club 3 DUB edition was constantly in my PS2 as a kid. My parents had all 3 though so i experienced them all, i still look back at 2 fondly and remember using the cheat code to get all the cars then driving for hours around the maps. As a kid who was surrounded by cars and loved them, the midnight club was my go to game. It also helped that it had all the cars i got to see in real life. Nfs was cool and all but I'm from the south where it's more old schools and SUVs which was most of dub edition. Not long ago i went on a 2 day hunt for the dub edition remix for the ps2 I have. You'd be surprised how rare it is to come by now, atleast where i am. No retro game shops had it and no one i knew had it. So after calling and going to every game shop in my vicinity I finally got a hit, the employee i called at a game shop all the way in Jacksonville (NC) 2 hours from me had it at his house but not in the shop, but he was willing to meet up at a foodlion and sell it lmao. So. I drove the 2 hours with my friend and a fresh 20 dollar bill, picked it up and brought it home... Well... It was fuckin broken and wouldn't go past the loading screen.. shit made me wanna break everything lol. So the third day trying to play DER i had to get it resurfaced at my local retro shop.. put it in it worked like a charm. I played every night after work for like a month and a half NIGHTLY. i typed all of this to say.. midnight club will always be my favorite and the most important rockstar product till this day for me. All of them from 1 to LA. The environments, the customization, the cars, the true street racing feeling you get flying through highway traffic and alleyways, the sense of speed, the soundtracks, perfect 10 out of 10 video games and I'll stand by that forever. (Well the first one was a bit barebones and rough, but still fun and nostalgic as hell nonetheless)

As a long-time fan of Rockstar Games, I have to admit they have created some incredible gaming experiences over the years. Titles like L.A. Noire, Bully, and many others have left a lasting impression on gamers worldwide. Their dedication to crafting immersive and engaging open-world games has always been commendable. However, it's tough to ignore the recent trend of focusing primarily on GTA 5 for revenue. While I understand the commercial success of GTA 5, it seems to have become the main focus, overshadowing other potential projects. As a fan, I crave new and fresh content from Rockstar. I genuinely believe that Rockstar is a talented company capable of creating diverse and innovative games. They've proven it in the past. It would be amazing to see them take risks and invest more in new IPs or revisit some of their older franchises that fans have been yearning for. Let's hope that Rockstar continues to balance their resources and pays attention to the desires of their dedicated fan base. We know they have the potential to create extraordinary experiences, and I'm optimistic that we'll see more diverse offerings from them in the future. Until then, I'll still cherish the memories and adventures I had in their earlier games. Rockstar, don't forget about your roots and the passionate community that supports you!

I wish they would do just one more midnight club 😞 just like midnight club 2 where we can race in la france & tokyo but just modernized & a bigger story line

One of the best racing games i played. All you had to do, to get the 1M deal done fast, is to just use the DUB Lambo for the rest of the game. No need for those low cost, and high risk-high reward sport bikes

Just as a curiosity that I found out about Midnight Club LA: The Audi R8 4.2 (first generation Audi R8) was on the cars list of MCLA and MCLA Remix, but the way of getting it was different for both games. In MCLA Remix, you have to defeat the final boss Booke in order to get it. The way to get it on MCLA for Xbox 360 and PS3 is basically impossible through official ways because the Audi R8 was a reward from Rockstar Club. The only way to get the Audi R8 into your PS3/Xbox 360 game is by replacing the save game with other one that actually has the Audi R8 unlocked.

This game was ahead of its time and underrated

I personally liked the gameplay of the 2nd game more than the ganes after just because of how hard but engaging it was, especially towards the end of the game.

@DoVe_7 one fact, when you write "NFSSUCKS" on the license plate, police dispatcher would say "Need for speed sucks" which implies NFS undercover sucks. so this also results that mcla beat undercover both financially and receptionally. i really liked this game when I've first played in xbox360 but really frustrating just bcuz I'm not getting used to it

what's crazy is it has wheel support but games like need for speed have less customization than a game that came out in 2008

Rockstar have made some games like racing games as midnight club, manhunt for shooting games, and rpg game as gta, rdr, max payne They merchant all games in GTA online, you can do all this thing from previous games in GTA online

So many racing games lack interior customization. Hell, this game puts most modern racing games to shame with the exterior customization alone.

This and tdu2 is what I choose every time over any horizon game past the first two, why? Because they actually have progression! You start at the bottom and work your way up, grind or no it's far more interesting than having supercars plopped in your lap because you won a single race. Only complaint I have about mcla is the traffic can be a rage inducing ball buster at times.

I still wanna know why MC3DE still has better visual car customization than any of the latest racing games. This really is a series that R* has just abandoned because it doesn't make them a billion dollars a year.. they're just chasing the GTA Online dragon, and they'll never stop.

I find it weird that you included Max Payne 1 & 2 as Rockstar games. These were made by Remedy. Rockstar did port and publish the first one for consoles, and publish the second one, but Rockstar sure didn't develop these games!

I had Playstation 2 in 2006-2011, then I only had a PC as a gaming platform. In late 2020 I've learned to emulate Playstation 2 and Midnight Club titles made me want to play Midnight Club Los Angeles. Luckily, I've got myself Playstation 3 from my aunt in August 2021. MCLA was the first game to be installed by myself. Loved every bit of it, this game made me feel as a child, these feeling of overwhelming pleasure when I won RX-8 pinkslip driving Bel Air. And here I am, a hardcore PC player admitting that my favourite arcade race game of all time is a 14 years old console game with frame dips and 960x720 resolution.

Fun fact: For people who played LA Rush, will know a simularity between these two in physics.

A modern Midnight Club would go crazy. When GTA Online came out I hoped that they were just using GTA to test some of the features for a new Midnight Club, but sadly after 15 years since the last game it's most likely not happening any time soon...

I recently softmodded my old PS3 to just play midnight club LA ... God I grew up with that franchise and it's very sad R* isn't making any more games in the franchise

I am still playing MCLA to this day. I began playing couple months ago on the Xenia emulator and these days I keep playing more frequently, if not every day. Wanting to beat the game because I couldn't complete it back in 2008 on my PS3. The game also makes me appreciate the early 2000s because of the music the game contains and the non-censored/politically corrected quotes of characters during cutscenes and in the game. R.I.P old Rockstar and thank you old producers that put their effort in crafting these titles for the fans. You will be missed.

I played every Midnight Club (except the first one) and it’s my favorite franchise. If Rockstar won’t make another MC, they should sell the rights to another developer so they can develop another installment maybe as a mobile game

Rockstar just published Max Payne 1 and 2 and may have helped porting it to consoles. Remedy developed MP 1 and 2. The only 100% made Rockstar MP was 3.

If they would make the next MC game with the physics of MC3, but have the car list be a combination of GTA, old MC, & Mafia game’s R* lore friendly cars, they wouldn’t need to pay licensing for anything.

I got MCLA back in 2016 for xbox360. I loved it so much but I didn't get too far in it. I spent too much time in GTA IV to fully embrace this game.

I'm wondering where's the rest of the devs went after they left Rockstar. Like, did they entirely quit AAA industry because of they realising creating games become more and more time consuming and difficult like they experienced in Rockstar, or did they formed an indie company to make their own games? Because the only thing that came out from them were a racing game called "Carnage Racing" which it was a game dedicated for Facebook before it got shut down because of low player base.

Some of those songs either were removed recently or they never were on the console versions.

I remember playing all midnight club games and its one of the best racing games during the ps2 era , music was phenomenal, car list was wild and its customization was just awesome, i remember the race mechanics being hard because it has fast paste meaning you'd really have to focus on the road to win, but when it came to L.A i had mixed feelings for it on one hand i liked its story, online mode and it's rate my ride feature but god they really made the xbox 360 version ridiculously hard, i remember how annoying the a.i would always use a super car whenever i upgrade my D class rides, the only way to win was to use a bike, but as for the rate my ride server i remember buying cars from other players then reselling them and make a ton of money lol.

Mc 3 dub edition had where when you upgraded your car it had real life parts like apex and stuff

They renew the license for midnight club and bully. They are working on a new police system…. They also are working on 2 huge titles.. gta 6 and another which would be Bully 2 or new midnight club which the car genre is popping off and they know that. I say bully would be in the future in 5 years from now and midnight/ gta in 2 years ish

I loved this game so much, I bought the game guide before I got the game!! Although I think Dub Edition had a bit more hood/blower customizations
