Baxter and Jonathan talk about some boutique guitars that rockstars pickup when they want something other than one of the big brands. Brands like Echopark, Crook Custom Guitars, Nash and Novo.

I like the boutique guitars that aren't trying to be a straight copy of something else. I think Nash guitars look great, feel great and sound good, but I'd rather get a great Fender. Novo on the other hand, truly unique so that is one that I'm trying to get soon.

I heard a story once from somebody who toured with Dwight Yoakam. I guess he could be a bit difficult to work with, and he had a walk-in closet on his tour bus just for his cowboy hats (which some people might have resented). When Dwight upset the other members of the band, they would sneak into his hat closet and rub their junk in whatever cowboy hat he was planning to wear on stage that night. As they played under the hot stage lights, sweat would drip down Dwight's forehead and face. The band would point this out to each other and have a good laugh, breaking whatever tension might have been building up.

Went to see Dwight and Suzy Boguss opened. 11th row. Suzy's set was awesome and the sound was perfect. Don't know what happened but Dwight's sound folks turned them up to 12! So loud it actually hurt and folks were repelled. He seemed pissed that folks weren't in to it but come on. Anyway you guys crack me up.

I think it is interesting how our tastes change as we age and grow as musicians. The music that draws me today is very different from the music that drew me as a youngster. Along with that taste in music, my taste in gear has changed in pursuit of the tones that are in the music that I currently love. My 50 y.o. body has weighed in on my gear selection, as well. Fascinating fodder for rumination. Cheers, gents!

Lord have mercy, y’all crack me up 🤣 ! You both deserve a hug from an eagle 🦅!!! Here's a question for you guys - I feel like our 'heroes' were often associated with ONE guitar. Hendrix and a Strat, Neil Young with "Old Black", Clapton and 'Blackie', Page and his Les Paul - when did this change? Because I feel like everyone has a wider pallet now.
@hughjass51562 жыл бұрын
Counter-point: Hendrix played an SG, and a Flying V, and recorded with a Telecaster. Neil Young is more associated with Martin acoustics than any electric. Clapton very famously developed his sound and launched the entire blues rock movement with a Les Paul. Jimmy Page also very famously played a telecaster.

Knaggs was production managing with PRS and involved in the S2 line which is of insane quality… His own guitars are more bling than PRS but, to me, in a less garish way. Prices are way steep. Maybe second hand would be smart, but you’d still have to keep it very clean to preserve max resale, like PRS so that’s a choice you’d make to preserve it like a beautiful object or else just really play it.
