Behind the goofy, exaggerated "tend the goal" stuff is a guy truly passionate about hockey. Not players whiffing on empty nets or goalies giving away easy goals, those elicit playful wyd responses, but rather a guy who genuinely seems to care about the game and its people, be it potentially career ending cheap shots, or situations like this where most try to maintain a conservative response. Good for you Steve!

Steve, your anger, ironically, was something that helped. Decades after my college refused to give an athlete consequences for harassing & assaulting 6 of us - simply moved him off campus for housing - my anger is still there. Hearing wanting real justice & support for survivors is so powerful. Thank you. & thank you Adam for using your platform to talk about the history of the Colored Hockey League. (& thank you for sharing the stories about the kiddos - needed the smile today)

I'm a SA survivor and it never goes away. Never goes away. We learn how to cope. Thank you. This is unacceptable and it never ends. Must be nice to able to move on. We don't. I hate the Blackhawks and everyone shouldn't give them money.

As an American, when they’re talking about A&W, I thought they were talking about root beer. On a serious note, my blood boils whenever I think about Kyle Beach crying and apologizing to the child in Michigan. Why is the one who should be apologized to is doing the apologizing? Nobody has sincerely apologized nor shown actual atonement.

Man. You know, I'm kinda glad about all of this Rocky stuff in a way, because wow, way to *really* show people what you're actually like in public... and guarantee the story keeps going in a big way, not in a tidy, PR-packaged "positive initiatives" way.

I think what we saw was a rich old man who probably knew the additional lawsuits were coming, was seeing red as a result, and didn't pay attention to the root of the question. He heard 2010 and absolutely blew a gasket. Danny genuinely seemed eager to take the question. I think you were wrong to call out Danny for not standing up to his father in the moment. We're talking about blood relation, and there is a lot of weight in confronting family, let alone in the moment and while it's being recorded. What Rocky did was tone deaf, insensitive and reveals his true feelings about the entire ordeal. I think you're right, he expects money to make it disappear, and is pissed he's likely going to spend a lot more. He should be gone yesterday, but I would have loved to heard what Danny has to say before I judge him and whether or not the organization hasn't actually learned anything.

There's a very realistic possibility if Danny did challenge and humiliate his father publicly, his succession gets called into question. While that may seem extreme, we have no idea of the internal relationship both business and personal. What we do know is Rocky has shown when angry, he's extremely volatile, emotional and quick to lashing out. Danny essentially telling his father to "sit down and shut up" just isn't going to happen on camera. Nobody in his position would do that, especially not to their father. Given that Danny immediately went and talked to both reporters afterwards, I'd like to believe he has a very different outlook on the situation. At the very least, he deserves a chance to live and die on his own merits.

Blackhawks fan since 2008 here, I cut my ties from the organization after the Kyle Beach info came out. After the Jenner and Block report came out, I felt sick because they let bowman have his moment in the sun on Blackhawks letterhead, and Kane and toews saying the WORST things when asked, but whatever. They were moving forward. I was starting to come back. Not giving them time, but paying attention to the scores, starting to get excited about some of the players. After this outburst by Rocky, I’m done. Threw away my gear. I will not spend one dime on the Blackhawks until Danny steps forward. And to be honest, it might still be too late.

Steve nailed it at 12:25. Rocky thought he had bought his way out of the problem, and was angry that it's not going away. I saw a petulant child in Rocky Wirtz the other day. A child that was angry that he 'lost' in the Kyle Beech situation, when in fact there was nothing to 'lose'. He could take the organization into a new place, but instead, he wants to stomp his feet and yell at reporters. Absolutely unforgivable, and Wirtz should no longer be in the NHL in any capacity.

As a SA survivor I just want to Thank You.. I had pushed memories down deep until Kyle had the courage to share this tragis and life changing event.. I have struggled since then and when I heard the Wutrz press conference I was shook all over again.. So THANK YOU 👏👌 oh and Bettman can go crawl under his rock too!

I want to know about the upcoming draft. What if a young man is drafted by the Blackhawks and refuses to be a prospect for them. How will Wirtz address that.

@@karlg1535 - The only time it happened was the Lindros draft correct??? I would be afraid for my child, that the Hawks couldn't protect any young man. If Cap Friendly is correct the Hawks draft 2nd round. They lost the 1st round to Jackets.

With steve here. I was walking around my living room screaming. I wish one of those reporters had called them out live. Someone in that room needed to have the guts to call out someone. If it wasnt going to be the cowards on stage, it needed to be a reporter.

Usually when you see steve this upset, it's because we lost to a emergency goalie or to a bad team 7-2. But when that happens, even as a pissed off leafs fan, it makes you smile. This is not one of those moments. Every hockey fan on the planet RN should have the exact same reaction. Disgusting behavior by disgusting human(s). In the NBA you're forced to sell you team over things like this because the league doesnt want you around. Now i dont think a Billion dollar payout is the answer to this, but the embarrassment and humiliation of having to sell your 3 generation owned franchine might help start to understand a small fraction of the pain their victims have felt.

As mad as I am about Wirtz, I'm glad he said it. I'm glad he gave an honest answer. He could've made a boring carefully constructed answer that most of us wouldnt have heard, and the NHL could pretend that the lesson was learned, while not addressing anything. But instead Rocky decided to bluntly let everyone know that he didnt care about anything but making everyone shut up about Beach, and no one can pretend the problem was solved. I'd rather he have any damn humanity, but at least he's too stupid to hide his ghoulishness

A&W got hammered in the States because they introduced a 1/3 lb burger in response to McDonalds "Quarter Pounder", and people thought it was smaller. People. Thought. It. Was. Smaller.

@@pjpredhomme7699 . It could be looked at that way. Though it could be more of a communication problem. 4 *IS* bigger than 3. How much real thought do we put in, say, a radio ad? The same people who off the cuff thought the 1/3lb burger was smaller, might not make the same error sitting in a math class with their thinking caps on. We all have misconceptions due to never really taking the time to think about something, or think something through. Everyone is someone else's idiot at one time or another.

9:30 I can hardly even watch the Wirtz clips, it reminds me of the drunken tirades my father would go on before he got help for his drinking problem. The sheer anger and irrationality of his response is that of someone who no longer has a basis in reality. I feels bad for Danny, you can see the frustration and the desire to shut everything down in his repeated actions (twisting and untwisting the bottle cap) and posture, but also the timidness/anxiousness of someone who has been shouted down his entire life.

I'm watching this in retrospect (also watched it multiple times when it was still timely) and I'm continually amazed by Steve, Adam, and Jesse's ability to break down these really heavy situations. Not only do they condense the circumstances to their core, but they say what sane people are thinking in a very intelligent yet rightfully angry way. I'm still stewing about how this essentially went away after the settlement and the org was rewarded with Connor Bedard shortly after. But at least Danny is at the helm now that Rocky's rotting in the ground, so I'll throw them that bone.

Here's something that would be a nice schadenfruede. Rocky as expected doesn't step down. Some young man, an early 2nd round pick (Blackhawks highest this year) refused to play for the organization and demands his rights be traded. Has a second rounder ever done that? Then we have this young man who broke the ice and if Rocky still stays it becomes easier for the next draft pick to do it.

If I was that young man parent, I would not let my child go to that organization. Honesty how could a parent trust that organization to take care of my child. Wouldn't make my heart to see another Lindros draft.

Growing up in Ontario, California we had an A&W! It closed probably a decade ago, and I've never seen another one in any state I've been to, or anywhere else in California. They had good burgers and kick ass root beer floats!

As a Blackhawks fan, this has been a complete disaster all the way around. My dad, who has been a fan since he was born in 1968, wants to burn his hat and jump ship. I remain a fan of the players, but I won’t be attending any games until Rocky is out as chairman. The players definitely didn’t ask for all of this to happen and it must suck awful bad to be on that team

ive bee a hawks fan my entire life, born in the 80s, being black i have suffered things like being spit on for liking hockey....i know people who were assaulted and no one did anything. i will never ever watch the hawks every again....find out Gary Bettman defended rocky....i will never watch the nhl ever again. i am done with this bullshit

I have an A&W in my small Rhode Island town…it’s only open in the summer though, it’s how they want to operate. Weird thing is we aren’t anywhere near a beach to have like “summer tourists” stopping there. It’s delicious I love it

NHL Commish Gary Bettman came to Rocky's defense. Outburst was out of frustration. 🙄 Oh, he's frustrated by the black stain on their organization and the fact that reporters won't move on? Imagine being a survivor of the sexual assaults. That is something that never goes away. They live with it every day. Steve is right. The guy is used to throwing money at problems and the problems going away.

You're just going to get another billionaire pig who only cares about the bottom line and raising profits of shareholders while important issues fail to be addressed. We see this with every corporation - there are a plethora of different issues facing the working class but they don't matter to billionaires because they're only interested in taking care of their shareholders.
