The power of magnets. A magnetic oil plug, eureka! Playing with silly putty is brilliant. Also, welding that delicate wire mesh was incredible. I couldn’t see your chickie’s face, there she is. She’s purring. Happy bird, happy Faye.

I think the large majority of 7m's that rod knock come from people that have blown a head gasket and got coolant in the crankcase which strips the bearings. Most just slap another head gasket on and end up with rod knock a month or two down the road. Seen it SO MANY times throughout my 15 years of driving these cars. And while I've dealt with a couple blown head gaskets on my supras, I've never had one knock on me.

FAYE!! did you replace the hardpipe with the banjo fitting in between the pump and the block?! The banjo fitting is a huge restriction in that part of the line, and it cuts oil flow down drastically. You can eliminate it with a couple of AN fittings and some stainless braided -8 hose... or Driftmotion makes a kit... that is just as important as the pickup tube!! also, a Full flow oil cooler. You have to delete the stock oil cooler setup, which only works under higher RPM. you need consistently cool oil for that engine and turbo!!!

@@FayeHadley so far so good. I ended up doing the pick-up mod, the AZ hardpipe that removes the banjo bolt, and the upgraded spring from Driftmotion. Cold start oil pressure is around 20 psi and warm idle oil pressure is still probably just around 5 or 7 psi. So not much of a difference from the spring. I'm just hoping the rest of the mods allow for better continuous oil flow. I have an AEM V-1 in the car now with a rough tune that is still getting tweaked. So far driving around has been fun. 😃
