Man, your video saved me $40.00 in buying new cables! I completely misunderstood the USB-C port on the Rode Wireless Go II receiver unit. I connected a Samsung USB-C to USB-C cable that came with my Galaxy smartphone and... YES! The connection worked right away and the audio for my video turned out fabulously sounding awesome - thank you! And yes, I subscribed to your channel.

@@mrheng562 Precisely, I am so annoyed. But I am also having trouble that I can not access mass storage on the devices. I still have great hope for the Wireless 2 but I am having nothing but technical problems. They worked on my first recording, but since I updated to macOS Monterey (don't know if there is a connection) I can not connect to the stored recordings. I see that others have had this problem too. A different cable (older version) seemed to solve it for some. Very frustrating. But thank you for your videos. They are great!

Great review! After updating also the desktop App Rode Central I also could update my receiver and the transmitters and then use the IOS APP! Great deal! This was one of the things I was hoping for and they did it! And it works also with the apple Lightning-USB-A-Adapter which I had bought last year for using USB-Stuff with lightning connection. Of course I suscribed your helpful channel!

Hi❤ Can we actually transfer the internal recordings from the recievers to mobile phone using this sc16 cable if I'm using an android phone? Or is it just the ability to change options only available?

Hi. With the new firmware updates, I believe you can with Android phones. The new firmware updates allows the transmitter to be able to act like a mini flash drive with all the recordings files stored on there.

Really confusing/frustrating about the Apple-supplied cable (USB-C 2 Lightning) not working... Looked at the half-dozen 'authorized RODE dealers' and noone has the SC-15 cable... best guess is November before back in stock from RODE. I'm awaiting delivery of 3 different 'MFi' certified cables from other vendors in hopes that one of them will work until the $25 RODE cable is available for purchase again. This is getting to be very expensive. Reviewer is very lucky RODE supplied him with an SC-15 as that seems to be the only cable that works.

@@Nardvillain Actually, I'm hoping that if I can finally get a cable that works, the I can also use that cable to connect the Receiver (via USB) for actual recording on my iPhone while taking iPhone video... instead of using the supplied 3.5mm TRS jack, which on my iPhone is no longer an option. Using the jack on the newer iPhone with no built-in 3.5mm port would involve adding the SC4 TRS to TRRS adapter and then the little dongle 3.5mm receptacle to Lightning port -kind of a "frankenstein" workarund. Turns out you can connect the receiver of the WGoII (not the v1 but the WGoII) to your recording device via USB! So I'm hoping the RODE SC-15 will allow me to connect WGOII receiver right to the iPnone lightning port as the audio source for my iphone videos... On my Mac it works way better connecting via USB because it's not going through the 3.5mm audio conversion circuits.

I thought Rode Go 2 app on the iPhone would allow me to see clips recorded on the TXs and would let me import them. I’m I wrong in thinking this???

To my understanding of how Rode wants this to work, they want the computer to be the main platform where you can export and organize audio files for editing. The iOS system is too convoluted for that kind of workflow. That’s my understanding of why you can’t export system Rode is implementing. In essence, the iPhone/iPad is for mobile purposes. So, it does not work like a computer per day. I hope that made sense. :)

Am I right in thinking this app is pretty much a waste of time? I mean I setup my set on my computer, after that they’re good to go. So there’s really no purpose for this app. Because, am I correct that the app can’t enable timecode mode?

I made this tutorial before there was timecode features. The app came out for the wireless 2. Then, the Wireless Pro came out with built in timecode. So, the app on the phone e might have that now. I don’t have Wireless Pro to test it. 😅

Yes… but you need a specific cable to do it, the rode sc15 cable which also happens to be currently sold out everywhere.

Yes. I’ve read the Rose site and they didn’t mention anything about wirelessly changing the settings. I wish things can be changed just by holding multiple buttons on the receiver and transmitters.

Can’t do that in Rode Central. There’s a new Rode app that does that. Records both the front facing and rear facing cameras.

I’m not sure, but maybe you can with a USB adapter. I’ve never done it, but I can see this being possible with Android phones. iPhones, I’m not so hopeful there.

So what I'm getting from the first 2 mins of this video is, that if you don't have the desktop software, then the Android app will not work. Ugh. Because the desktop software won't open on my computer.

So I was going to plug in the usbc cord that came with it into the rode and take the end of it and plug it into the usb to lighting and connect it to my phone but I was wondering if that would work

@@shamoreadams3766 I did that in my video and it did not work. But, I suggest you try it out with your USB-C cable because maybe Apple upgraded their cable? I'm not sure, but it's worth a shot. If not, you'll need the Rode cable. :)

I f#%^^ing hate when manufacturers use Proprietary cables. Why??? Do they know how many of these things we have to keep track of?! Sorry I’m pissed, but thanks for the review. I was trying to figure out why my apple cable didn’t work.

It’s Apple, not Rode. Some cables do charging only, data transfer only, and some are designed to do both. So, it’s Apple cheaping out on us. That’s my thinking. 🙂

@@mrheng562 no lightning to usb3. The only one I have is the one that came with my phone which I rarely ever use cause I have a bunch of usb2 to lightning adapters everywhere.

I've bought and tried 5 various cable manufacturers after the Apple supplied cable did not work with the same disappointing results -no connection... (and these cables are MFi certified, data and power supported and even Fast Charge support -no connection. RODE's SC-15 (or longer SC-19) appears to be the ONLY cable that "allegedly" works for Apple devices -however there are none to be found from RODE or any of their resellers with anticipated restocking sometime in late November or even later.
