Hey y’all, I had a few people comment on the microphone being in the incorrect position, this is true but I purposely did this to show the name of the new “Podmic USB” over the older “Podmic”. Although they come in different colors, as a precaution I wanted the microphone name to be shown. Point that bad boy towards you in real uses case scenario🤣. I love the accountability 🫶🏾

Thank you so much for making this comparison video. It’s the only one I could find. I have been using the blue yeti nano on my channel’s voiceover and can’t get it to work for me to save my life so have been holding off on a purchase and saw the pod mic vs mv7 on my feed. It was perfectly shot and edited! Thank you.

Awesome! I too was looking for a head to head comparison and couldn’t find one, so I decided to make one myself . Glad to hear the video is helping folks see the difference b/w the two . If I use Podmic usb to record the music sound from the speaker, do you think it is suitable, or do you have other recommendations

Good questions. I guess it depends on what you’re trying to achieve. When you say “music sounds” are you planning on playing music through speakers in a room in which the microphone would be catching and recording that sound? If so, it’s good enough to start but there are microphone that do that better. A condenser microphone may work better for the situation I described, but again I’m not sure of what you’re trying to achieve . Condenser microphones isolate the sounds in front of it and cancel out the sounds around it. Hope this helped

Yup it does. By pressing the volume button it mutes the microphone.

Thank you for this review! I've been holding off on purchasing the MV7 (because of the Micro USB connection) in the hopes that a comparable product with USB C would come out. The Rode Podmic USB as far as I know is the only mic that directly competes with the MV7 and your video is the first that I've found that compares them.

Same! Anything with a micro HDMI or micro USB I’m like, why 🤦🏾‍♂️? When this mic was announced and I saw that it had a USB-C connection I immediately said take my money. This mic sounds great in both XLR and USB and for voice over for content creation or Zoom calls this works great . Thanks for watching 👍🏾

They both sound about the same. As I mentioned in the video, what made me go with the PodmicUSB was of the USB-C cables and the RØDE software for sound mixing and recording on a laptop. Shure’s MV7 sounds great but it’s going to need an update soon b/c of the outdated micro USB cable and limited software.

Ah, got it 😂. Honestly, I tested both of them and I promise you won’t be disappointed with the RØDE mic. It’s future proof with the USB-C and it’s cheaper. 🤝🏾

I have issues with this mic USB on with Mac Studio on Ventura. Mic goes in and out and when using effects in the connect app the mic completely goes out for at least 10-15 mins

I just got a new M1 Max MacBook Pro this week and too had issues, but it seemed to be with the Røde Connect software and not the mic for me. After a quick uninstall, restart and install it seems to be working now . Maybe uninstall & and install and restart might help .

@@swnup that’s was the issue with me. I did the uninstall and reinstall with several restarts. Now the mic cuts in and out with the software on or not🤦🏽‍♂️

Weird. My Windows desktop had no issues, only my MacBook Pro. Hopefully it works out b/c it is a great setup when working .

Does the Podmic USB offer a “far” setting like the MV7, so you can film a talking head video with the mic out of frame?

I’m not sure. Not sure why you would considering that these are broadcast microphones. They’re meant to be seen in the shot along with the person speaking unless you have a producer or co-host who you cut to from time to time.

Good vid, just one thing though, rhe podmic usb isnt side address, it's front address. Saw clips of you talking into it from the side with the front end of it pointed to the ceiling. Hope this helps. Great editing btw, very slick. Good vibes all around.

Good catch and thanks for keeping it positive. I talked into the mic frontward facing in a practical use, I did it that was to show off the branding for the video . I wanted the Podmic “USB” showing b/c I didn’t want people to get this one mixed up with the regular Podmic if they decided to purchase . My love bro 🤝

@@rashedmango9753 Got it. The “advance setting” just allow you to fine tune your voice setting more than the basic settings. If you’d like, RØDE’s software is free to download on Win. & MAC. Give it a look. 👍🏾
