I started with the 85 f2 then last December i bit the bullet and bought the 85 f1.2 and have zero regrets. I’ve spent a decent amount of money on my RF L series glass, and they’re all excellent,but that 85 1.2 is just….special

Agreed. It’s absolutely special. I’ve yet to use the new RF 24-105 F/2.8, but the RF 85 F/1.2’s fall off is like you said, special. Thanks for watching brotha!

And that’s why I love KZfaq. Just as a suggestion, consider buying this lens used as I did state that it was slightly over priced by maybe $500.00. I’ve seen several reputable websites selling this lens used, so consider going that route to save money. I did. B&H and your local camera store is a good start. I buy a lot of my gear used and it has saved me thousands. God bless bro.

Nice job, man! I just joined the team migrating from 6DII (owning 5D and 5DIII as well) and R is fantastic. I reviewed it when it came out and was not impressed, but recently I got a tempting deal (R + BG-E22 for the price of R alone) from my subscriber and couldn't resist. I bought it with the latest firmware installed and it is a different camera than what I reviewed! Now it's good. More functions, Servo eye-tracking and better AF overall + less lag... I'm satisfied. Although I still aim at R6 because of IBIS, 1080p120 and Digic X + DPAF II. I reviewed it as well and it overpowers R (except for resolution, which I don't need). But until then I really fell in love with the R! Keep up the good work! Waiting for new videos!

Exactly. I think that’s a great move. It’s more like an update than an upgrade. Unless you have a Canon RF mirrorless camera it’s not worth upgrading until you have a RF camera body. But if you do have a RF camera, I would just for the compact size alone.

@@swnup I did notice how compact it is, can I ask, I know that the lens is an L model but do you ever worry about moisture inside if you extend the barrel out? Thats one of my main concerns about the lens. I’d rather have all internal zoom.

@@coach_yo that’s a great question. Canon claims that the lens is weather sealed and I can admit I’ve used it outside when it was pouring rain twice and it still works great. I personally believe that’s not a concern.

Does the Podmic USB offer a “far” setting like the MV7, so you can film a talking head video with the mic out of frame?

I’m not sure. Not sure why you would considering that these are broadcast microphones. They’re meant to be seen in the shot along with the person speaking unless you have a producer or co-host who you cut to from time to time.

Great video , thankx ! I've got mine since about 3 years now and I still love it. The 30 MP ist just great, the file size is manageable and it has enough room for cropping and enough resolution for what I am doing. The things that people are complaining about don't bother me, I can manage my workflow around them with ease. Still a great camera in 2024. I cannot see myself switching soon, I rather buy good glass for the money.

And that’s why you my friend are a rarity. I completely agree. I use the EOS R paired with both EF & RF glass, even Sigma and the photos I get are just as good as the R5.

I actually used one for the car shot. From what I remember on the day, that was the most clarity I was able to get through the window.

They both sound about the same. As I mentioned in the video, what made me go with the PodmicUSB was of the USB-C cables and the RØDE software for sound mixing and recording on a laptop. Shure’s MV7 sounds great but it’s going to need an update soon b/c of the outdated micro USB cable and limited software.

Not going to lie, this was a hard lens to take back to the rental house. Although I own the RF 70-200mm f/2.8, that f/1.2 compression might be the undefeated portrait king. What’s your favorite portrait lens?. Thanks for watching.
