What do Manning and Favre have in common? They both know how to run up stats, then choke when the biggest games of the year when they are on the line…aka playoff games! Enough said.

1998? The 16-1 Vikings blowing the NFCCG to Atlanta absolutely comes to mind first and foremost over the boring Broncos pasting of the Falcons in the SB. No doubt about that. 2010? Yes, the great run by Marshawn Lynch that killed off the Saints was VERY memorable. Thanks for proving my point for me.

The bottom line is that this is a comparision between the 2007 brady and 2011 rodgers. Rodgers had a higher passer rating as well as more rushing yards and rushing attempts than Brady, and two less fumbles to boot. The numbers don't argue, and not to mention while Brady is an amazing passer, he simply doesn't pass as well as Rodgers does. He thinks out every pass well, and fast, and its his quick thinking combined with his accuracy and scrambling ability that makes him the superior QB.

And the 2007 patriots had one of the toughest schedules in the NFL that year against some of the toughest defenses and teams in the NFL on the road (steelers, colts, ravens, cowboys, giants, eagles) 07 afc north and 07 nfc east were very tough divisions.

It does! A superbowl appearance doesn't dictate a more successful season. they fell short of the same mark that the dismal 2007 Rams were trying to hit that year. However, to do it with the extreme amount of momentum they had with a team served to them on a silver platter is crazy. I mean they've even been there before and, at the time, Brady and that team were far better conditioned for that environment the Giants ever were.

The 18-0 Pats were favored by 12 points in Super Bowl 42 vs the 10-6 Giants, who had the 7th-ranked defense in the NFL and were also #1 in sacks. They also ranked in the top 10 in pass defense and run defense. The Pats lost by 3 points. The 15-1 Packers were favored by 9 points in the 2011 divisional playoff game vs the 9-7 Giants, who had the 27th-ranked defense, 29th-ranked pass D and 19th-ranked run D. The Packers lost by 17 points. I rest my case.

The Pats ran up the score on opponents, which some would say inflated Brady's numbers whereas GB didn't do, which is why Rodger's never had any 5 TD games. Welker was the phin's #1 WR the season before he got traded to the Pats, so when he finally had a great QB, he showed his greatness. Also, who really knew anything about Nelson, he did not produce spectacular numbers before this season. All I am say is don't take any credit away from Welker because he was unproven when Nelson was as well.

that was not supposed to take away what dan marino did.. the point i was trying to make was that rodgers is extremely efficient with the football in his hands, be it as a runner or a passer. also other qb's such as brady, both mannings, brees, roethlisberger that play in the same era with the same rules have failed to accomplish that ;)

And Brady doesn't think out every pass well and fast? There's a reason that Revis and Lewis both incredible defenders say that Brady from the line of scrimmage just picks defenses apart. He may not be able to "scramble", but his pocket presence is possibly the best of all time. He makes it look so flawless making just slight movements and slight pump fakes to create space in the pocket.

when you consider the era and team Favre did that in it not only blows rodgers' out of the water.it is quite possibly the greatest stretch of qb play in nfl history.I read that article and it should have just shut everyone up. just keep in mind that rodgers needs good talent around him for him to achieve his success, favre never had such luxuries and had to make way with whatever he could, much like brady did in his sb runs.favre made his teammates better, rodgers wasnt even a captain til last yr

As of this moment Aaron Rodgers is the best qb in the league. He leads in touchdowns and passer rating, and is in the top 5 for yards, which in reality isn't as important as td's and passer rating. But the stats can't tell you everything. They can't tell you how great Rodgers' ability to avoid blitzes with his mobility is. He is the best at throwing outside the pocket. That touchdown last week where Rodgers had to scramble to his left to avoid a rush and throw a pinpoint accurate pass across h

Favre is part of our illustrious history that I grew up watching, and I don't like how Packer fans "hate" him because he played for the Vikings, the move was right for both sides. But I have to disagree with Rodgers being a system QB, it's not like those receivers are all-pro's, they're good, but Rodgers makes them a lot better. If anything, this was proven in 2012 when Rodgers had only one WR start all 16 games this year (and he was sacked 50 times) yet he still had an MVP caliber season.

One thing that is over looked in the dan marino arguement, is the speed of which the game is played at now corners where not as fast as they are now receivers where not as fast as they are now, hell there's line backers and DE that are fast as hell. And rodgers is making these throws in a game that IS a high level of speed.

Rodgers most td's and best rating of the 3 ... Brady most yards and led the toprated offense of the 3... Manning led the team with the best record of the 3 and his comeback story makes it more amazing... thats actually why peterson will win the mvp award. its so tight among the top 3 quarterbacks while peterson just blows away all other runningbacks and carries the team in the same kinda way that these 3 QB's do, which is just unfathomable for a RB to do.

My apologies, I forgot to add Alex Smith to that list as well, SB rings are nice but they don't always gauge how good a quarterback is. Rodgers has a better receiving core than all those listed above, yet they are actually doing a better job meshing their teams. This is where the Packers are struggling, the mesh and the communication is not there as it was in 2009 and 2010, probably as a result of Rodgers head being too big, but no one wants to say anything because he's the "MVP"

Woah I have the utmost Respect for Wes what I'm Saying is when your best WR is 5'7 no matter how good his route running an catching abilities are if you give those Same abilities to a 6'4 WR it's much easier an your numbers Should be way better So for Tom to throw for way more yards then Rodgers Shows he's clearly better an Stafford isn't top 3 cuz it's just like when Culapepper had Moss an Carter now where is he...exactly my point

After Moss and Welker, Brady had Gaffney and Stallworth to throw to, not to mention a solid RB in Maroney in 07 so I don't think he was doing more with less. Jennings wasn't even Green Bay's best WR, statistically speaking, Nelson was but after those two all he really had to throw to was Finely. My point is both Brady and Rodgers had plenty of options to throw to on their team.

I think snice Brady is so consistent we just don't see him as good anymore. He's not the best arm in the league but he reads coverages better than anyone else, doesn't turn the ball over, and plays very solid. He doesn't have the highest completion percentage but he avoids turnovers by not taking a super risky play and throwing an interception and usually by the time the pressure get's through he's already thrown the ball. I'd take Brady over any quarterback in this league at the moment.

So yes I would say Rodgers had better season because with a mediocre O-line (Clifton injured), defense that gave away big plays Rodgers managed to lead his team to 15-1 record, they swept their divison, had a passer rating of 122,5 and threw 45 td's and only 6 picks...And it was a pleasure to watch him making big play after big play..play action fake and td pass to nelson...just awesome!!!

funny how people call the packers oline bad when the packers lose and as soon as aaron rodgers lights up a great texans defense and a solid rams defense people talk about all the talent around him. i wonder what rodgers' numbers would be like if his receivers were catching every ball thrown their way and the line could protect him...

yes he did threw for 5000 about he also needed over 660 pass attempts to get all those yards and TDs same with Brees and Brady last year. its impressive but by the way QBs throw so many attempts now days things like that will be seen on a year to year basis. who will ever do what Rodgers did in 2011 on only 502 attempts with a weak ass running game and a last ranked Defense? we will honestly be lucky if we ever see a season like that again of amazing efficiency and consistency.

i respect you for not being a packers fan who just blindly shoots down brett favre to prop up aaron rodgers bc sadly the majority are, bc they just try to pull some revisionist history bc almost all of them were booing and cursing him in training camp in 08. to me it's not even a debate. both great qbs, but Favre in a tier of his own. i think rodgers benefits so much from his system, his wr's and the era he plays in. Favre was GB's joe montana, he ran the same west coast offense and was amazing

As it turns out, Brady's 2007 trumped Rodgers' 2011 by a nose. 16-0/18-0 then losing the SB isn't nearly as horrible as being the first ever team to go 15-1 and then go one-and-done in the playoffs. But damn, those Giants are just Giant-killers...

Rodgers didnt break the yardage record because he was sat down in so many 4th Quarters and sat out a game. Sean Payton kept Brees out there even when they were blowing out teams. Payton wanted him to get the record so he left him out there to throw as many times as he wants and the shocking thing about is they still had one of the best running game games last year. Rodgers did what he did on less pass attempts then Andy Dalton and Cam Newton Brees did it on having the most pass attempts.

Rodgers also needs to throw 376 more TD passes to tie Favre's record of 508. Even if Rodgers averages 33 TDs per season, it'll take him until the 2023 season to pass Favre. Rodgers won't be averaging 33 TDs per season in his late 30s, I assure you.

Rodgers has a bit of catching up to do to get to brady and peytons place but over the last 3 years rodgetrs has been the best of the three. slightly edging brady and blowing peyton out the water (due to peyton being out for a year is the only reason why, as peyton showed this year)

that's so true, Rodgers plays like a violin!!stats don't show everything. He is the best qb in the league right now but Pats fans can't stand that Brady isn't anymore so they try to put some nonsense Matt Flynn theories to diminish Rodgers' succes. Amazing how so many people always hate on the Pats defense ignoring the fact that defense shut down the broncos in the divisional game that same Pats defense bailed Brady out from his poor performance in AFC championship game against the Ravens. that same Defense held the Giants offense to only 19 points in the super bowl. and people want to blame the defense for everything without taking into account the Pats offense only scored 7 points in the entire second half of Super bowl 46.

So not only were they comparable but guess what? The only reason why Favre's stretch didn't last longer was because Brooks was lost for the season, and Freeman got hurt as well. Numbers don't suggest nothing when the one QBs efficiency is higher then another who had 48 total TDs and only 6 turnovers in 2011? Rodgers who had 52 total TDs and 12 turnovers 07? Brady. Brees had 46 Total TDs and 15 turnovers. The only way you can prove other QBs had better seasons is based on padding his stats with more pass attempts. none of those QBs with the exection of Peyton amazing season has come close to doing what Rodgers has done on such a low amount of attempts.

you don't tend to stick to reality because u ignore the pass attempts its like in Basketball when you shoot more attempts you're going to end up with more points same with Football the more attempts you give a great QB the more yards and TDs he is going to have. the most important stat for a QB that throws it over 500 times a season is passer rating and his TD to Turnover ratio and Rodgers owns both records. you ignore the amount of Turnovers and attempts both Brees and Brady had.

from Farve. Not to mention the team had a good history of winnning. Brady was shoved into week 2 with a ton of pressure on him, with 1st overall pick injured, with a team with no winning history! Brady is the Best QB on the Planet atm

"A superbowl appearance doesn't dictate a more successful season." Really? So the 2008 Lions (0-16) had the same amount of success as the 2008 Cardinals (lost super bowl) just due to the fact that neither team won the SB that year? Holy SHIT, you are not playing with a full deck...

"look at the the inconsistency of NFC teams up to that point in terms of title contention and superbowl champions from 2001." What the fuck does that have to do with you saying the 2007 NFC was weaker than the 2011 NFC? Wow...

Oh, and did you also forget that the Giants had the 16th ranked special teams and 14th ranked offense? Is it all about offense the pats offense? Oh, and where the hell do you get 7th ranked? they were somewhere around 11th in the pass (new england was first in pass offense) and 8th in the run. they were VERY unimpressive in turnovers and gave up A lot of points that year. Oh and may i remind you, that the Pats went right through the team that beat the number ranked D in the playoffs, so yeah..

trust me rodgers has a long ways to go before he's even in the league of favre let alone before he's evenn able to become the best qb in the nfl right now. he's not better than brady brees peyton and i give him a tie with eli and that's being nice considering he isnt nearly as clutch as eli.

i won't argue best in the NFL yet, but he certainly isn't 2nd best by any clear means. his yards per attempt the last three years are 8.2, 8.26 and 9.25 in '09, '10, and '11 respectively. brady has only been above 8 twice in his career (8.3 and 8.57 in '07 and '11). same with brees (8.34 in '09, and 8.54 in '11). the only thing you can question is longevity, which he can't do anything to prove, of course, except keep playing. he's off to the best statistical 4 year start of any QB in history.

Weak ass defense??in '11 I agree but in '07?Wilfork, McGinnest, Samuel,Bruschi...really?weak?Yeah I do think Eli is elite, I saw what he did to my beloved Packers and to Pats in the SB...Maybe he doesn't perform well in regular season (well not untill 4th quarter) but in the post season he's a beast...still he is way behind the best qb in the league Mr. Rodgers

Tom Brady is the best QB ever. You will never see that type of greatness in this free agency era for a VERY long time. Brady has lost and won more Super Bowls than Rodgers has been to. Brady has double the TD's, double the yards, more reg season wins, the most playoff wins all time, all with LESS offensive and recently defensive talent. Brady took a team with NO defense to the SB and nearly won! Rodgers can't do that! I've also seen Brady punt, kick, catch, and JUKE the shit out of Urlacher!

The Pats tougher schedule. Green Bay played the AFC West, Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders, Chargers and NFC South Saints, Falcons, Panthers, Bucs; Extra Teams Giants and Rams. The Patriots played the NFC East Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins and AFC North Steelers(in prime) Ravens(Rex's D), Browns and Bengals other Teams Colts and Chargers. Pats own division was easier but Chicago's defence wasn't as good as the Ravens or Steelers. Vikings were terrible & Lions had bad pass D. They Got Chiefed lol
