ROG Ally: This RGB Dock Has EVERYTHING!

I've tested a bunch of different docking stations for the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally but this is the first one that has RGB. It features 4K/120Hz, dual monitor, ethernet port, SD card slots and a lot more.

you can turn off the rgb by touching and hold for a sec the triangle in the middle. theres no button indeed. it's touch sensor. hope it helps!

Hi @The Tech Unravel!! If I am not mistaken, you can turn off lights, just pressing in the middle of the dock. Cheers.

There isn’t any button on top and also on their website it’s mentioned to use Open RGB for this. I’ll check again though

Press and hold your finger on the triangle at the top for 2-3 seconds and the RGB lights will turn off@@TheTechUnravel

Really, they don’t ship it there? They come from China and it may take a while but after 2 weeks it was here

@TheTechUnravel I can order it straight from their website. They do ship here in Canada, but i wanted to buy it from Amazon so i can get it quicker 🙂 I might have no choice but to order it straight from China.

Most of the time yes. I also use some others but the original one is the one I use the most

I was going to order it but only the white model is in stock and I hate white electronics 😅. I usually go with a white desk with black electronics or dark wood desk with black electronics.

That's an LG Ultrawide QHD monitor. It's not a gaming one but I use it a lot for work and I can't go back to a non-ultrawide monitor anymore

My mirco sd does not work on my dock but that is ok and how much it cost I wish it was built better.

The dock does support 120Hz. My monitor is 100Hz only though and that's the peak for me

I only get 25w with the original 65w rog ally charger and I updated the firmware from jaaux website that mentioned it should get 30w. Any informations about this?

Make sure to plug in the charger into the PD port and this should work. I can definitely confirm 30w work with this charger so either you haven't used the proper port or maybe something is wrong with your dock. I didn't even had to upgrade the firmware for this one. It worked with 30W right out of the box. So if that's the case, I'd contact JSAUX. But make sure you are using the PD port first

Hey mate. I just got a confirmation from JSAUX that this dock also officially supports 30W turbo mode. You can also check the full list over here: jsaux.com/blogs/steam-deck/jsaux-docking-stations-are-now-compatible-with-rog-ally-s-turbo-mode I would suggest trying out different chargers, outlets and if still nothing, get in contact with JSAUX to troubleshoot this or to send a new dock if indeed it’s an issue

Asus said they were going to release ROG Ally 2 in 2024. I'm waiting to see if the new specs are worth waiting for.

I’m curious as well. Although I doubt it will be much more powerful than the first one. The hardware is not there yet, from my point of view and I hope they’re not rushing it just to have a second one as soon as possible

@@sages101 Indeed but I hope that will not be the only thing they upgrade. If they come up with an upgraded version with more RAM and maybe an OLED screen but still call it ROG Ally (1), I think that could work for a while

It’s a standard Ikea monitor stand. I believe it’s called ELLOVEN

Is it possible to connect usb c to usb c monitor?

If you have an usb-c monitor then it works directly. It even has 30w if the monitor has enough power and you can also use the monitor’s porta for usb etc. if you want to plugin a usb-c monitor into this dock, then it doesn’t seem like it has video throughput.

@@TheTechUnravel yeah I have a portable monitor and it's amazing since I can connect it directly to my ally and get video then I could power my monitor and it would also charge and turbo my ally. The only issue I have is figuring out how to get Ethernet wired internet working too for fighting games.

What’s the wattage the Ally gives you using this dock? It should be 30W. If not, maybe you plugged it in a different usb-c port of the dock

I couldn’t afford it, so I got this dock for free by telling amazon i never got my blackfriday package (a travel bag and an anker 100W brick) And ironically my screen protector from amazon legitimately hasn’t arrived yet,

I mean...I'm not in favor of benefiting from customer service when nothing wrong happened. If you indeed didn't receive the package, then alright.
