Destroying Instruments, throwing TV's out of hotel windows, they were publicity stunts, manufactured by their manager, any publicity is good publicity.
@brettlunden82685 жыл бұрын
And I don't understand having a dozen dancers on stage at a music concert instead of seeing the musicians. It was just to draw attention, their signature.
@vc235 жыл бұрын
It actually started as an accident and wasn't intentional, they were playing in a venue with a low ceiling and Pete's guitar went through the ceiling and the audience thought it was part of the act, Keith Moon then started destroying his drum kit, they seen how much the audience reacted so continued, but in them days they weren't being paid much money and Pete found it hard buying new guitars all the time! So it started as completely unintentional and unplanned but it became their trademark.

**"Biggest band inna' World in the '70's?" NO...that 'Title' goes to the 'Stones' in terms of touring and ticket-sales and Album sales** ( I think he just 'pulled that outta' his ass' just to say it...considering the 'Who' have been 'coasting' since "Baba O'Reilly" and their last 'Top Twenty' was "Squeeze Box") **The 'Stones' were/are 'guilty as charged' over playing the same 'forty licks' for the last fifty-years...but...at least there ARE 'Forty' of them! "The Who" have done some damn good tunes...but there are damned few of them!**(( **wherever you are John..."The Beatles" still 'Rule the World' where 'popularity' and 'sales' are concerned...sales figures are the 'proof-positive' of 'the biggest band inna' World!' You were right all along** ))
@gerrynightingale90455 жыл бұрын
**"Zep" did a lot of sales (all albums) but if you re-read what I wrote it was concerning over-all ticket-sales and recording-sales for the 1970's...the 'Stones' have the title on that aspect of 'who's the biggest?'** (this was about the 'Who' and what band was 'bigger' than the 'Who' were in '70's and the answer is the 'Stones' were 'bigger' (they practically 'invented' World Tours as a 'cash-machine') Was 'Zep' doing extremely well in the '70's? Sure! Were there others? Sure! (I'm using revenue figures here...not 'which one was more 'artistic' or 'supposedly avant garde' like 'Zep' ...$$$$ are what I'm considering, and the 'Stones' made 'barrow-loads' of CA$H in touring for those ten years! Far more than the 'Beatles' ever dreamed-of...ticket-prices rose, and revenue jumped dramatically...and THAT is the 'name of the game')
