Can we all agree that no one can match him in terms of playing style? Absolutely elegant

I'd say overall talent and coordination. Tennis is so natural for him in terms of feet/wrist movements. He uses slice to offend whereas mostly it's a defensive weapon. The other two goats have proven to be better physically and mentally, but for me Federer is the tennis itself, it's like reading a tennis book.

I've been rewatching a couple of Federer highlights, and you could see the slo-mo to find out why he's so elegant. His face is almost expressionless, while Nadal and Djokovic's slo-mo hitting of the ball looks like a warrior hitting an enemy. There is no difference in their focus, but Federer's outward expression of his focus looks like a craftsman working on his piece. A blacksmith probably doesn't open his mouth and scream while he forges a sword, nor did Michelangelo shout and grunt while painting the Sistine Chapel. So Federer's expression is much more sportsmanlike. Another point is the stroke. Federer's stroke feels "perfect", but this is generally evident in most of the old generation of players, such as Agassi, or even Hewitt. Old players' motion look sensible and natural, as opposed to the current crop of players. Modern players use outsize neon-colored racquets, they take an abnormal number of steps while moving, and their stroke looks very contrived, because they bash on the ball at the point of contact. It's not their fault that they were taught to maximize power and topspin, but the aesthetic is plainly unpleasant to look at. This is common for both 2HBH and 1HBH players.

I will put in other therms, nobody has found the biomechanics and functionality that he has, because is not about how it looks, is how it works and the result is so natural that comes out as beautiful, but is actually a pretty well executed technique and a very high mind-body awareness what he has reach and so often people just simplify and focus on the look of it!

I remember at one of the Tour End Finals, Federer had 6-0, 5-0 vs Andy Murray when he was ranked No.4(?). I swear Fed gave him the one game just because it was being played in London, to avoid the embarrassment of a double bagel. Still; love and 1 against a player of his calibre. Probably the most dominant performance I ever saw from him...

Yes, I share your view. At times, a few times, it did appear that he let his opponent have a game. I also saw him trying to make a fairly non-responsive player during a match play, ie against Djokovic in one of the USO finals.

@@naeemulhassan3664 Stats built in the weakest era of the nextgen after 2017 don't count. 🤣🤣 Sampras, Roddick, Hewitt, Agassi, Safin, Nalbandian of 2003-2007 were much better than the nextgen of 2017-2022. Plus the courts and balls were faster then. Sorry, your weak era champ's statistics don't reflect the truth. Prime Roger is much better skilled than your baseline robot Novak.
@my8osprive
@my8osprive Жыл бұрын
@@naeemulhassan3664 I don't need to search KZfaq. You are the one who mentioned stats. And everyone knows that the weakest era is after 2017. How many GS have the nextgen accumulated since 2017 (6 year span)? Let see those stats: Medvedev: 1 Alcaraz: 1 Tsitsipas: 0 Ruud: 0 Rublev: 0 Sinner: 0 Zverev: 0 Let me also add Thiem although he is older: 1 TOTAL: 3 Now let's see 2001-2007 (6 year span): Hewitt: 2 Roddick: 1 Sampras: 1 Agassi: 2 Safin: 2 Ferrero: 1 Nalbandian: 0 TOTAL: 9 Thus is proven that Federer's competition that period was much better than nowadays nextgen 2017-present. Another proof is that even big-3 past their prime are teaching nextgen a hard lesson and winning almost all the GS... Nextgen is pathetic. 🤣 I mean look at Federer he was still winning GS in 2018 and almost won Wimbledon 2019 at the age of 38... Nadal will quit this year I think at RG; his body can't take it anymore. Big chance for your weak era champ. 🤣 The nextgen is really the weakest. Hopefully only Alcaraz might be worth watching but remains to be seen. Also Djokovic's stats improved only after 2011 when Federer got old, i.e. 30+ years old, past his prime. All you Novak fans care about is stats but you don't even account for the time periods... Also you neglect skills which everyone agrees that Roger is better than Novak. So if prime Roger goes up against prime Novak, who do you think will win? Your baseline robot doesn't stand a chance. Also GOATness isn't measured only by stats. This is a gentlemen's sport. How many sportsmanship awards did Novak win in his entire career? What is Nivak's contribution to the game itself? For example, who introduced Laver's Cup to the world? Roger. Who has a tennis play called for himself (SABR)? P.S. Which big-3 GOAT contender really wants an gold Olympic medal and hasn't one?
@my8osprive
@my8osprive Жыл бұрын
@Cárdenas Gutiérrez Román Read my previous comment. I already analyzed who got GS and if Agassi at 33 is considered too old, then Federer at 37 winning a GS in the weakest era next gen is considered ancient? Your chump got half his GS after 2017 in the weakest of all eras. P.S. you talk about Roddick who has 5-4 winning streak against Djokovic? 🤣🤣

Had they stopped homegenizing the court speed at this level (Medium -fast to Fast),I bet that Federer would have made the entire tour look like amateurs.Props to Shanghai/Dubai/Cincinnati/Halle for maintaining the court speed even now.Rest of the tournaments got very greedy and to increase the viewing time which fetches money,they literally lay clay courts in name of Grass and Hard Courts.Players have a lot of reaction time to play every ball these days.This killed variety of the sport.

Novak has done something the other 2 hasn't done, and no other male or female has done in singles tennis: Been ranked world No. 1 for a record total 380 weeks. Novak finished as the year-end No. 1 an Open Era record seven times. He has won a total of 93 singles titles on the men's ATP Tour with titles comprising of a joint-record 22 slams, a record 38 Masters, a joint-record six Tour Finals, and a record 66 Big Titles. Another thing he has done, that Roger and Rafa hasn't done: Djokovic has completed a non-calendar year Grand Slam in singles, becoming the only man in tennis history to be the reigning champion of the four majors at once across three different surfaces. He is also the first man in the Open Era to achieve a double Career Grand Slam in singles and the only player to complete the career Golden Masters in singles by winning all of the nine Masters tournaments, which he has done twice. Many greats, like Sampras and Becker have said, 2011: Novak's rise to the top is the greatest season in tennis history. He won 3 slams and 5 Masters and he ended the year with an impressive 10-1 record against Nadal and Federer. Since 2011 (Roger was 29 and 6 years younger than Novak is now), when Novak's celiac condition was diagnosed and treated, he wins the H2H v Roger 22-10 (Up until Roger retired). Novak's H2H v Roger from 2011 to Roger reaching 35 (Novak's age now) is 18-9 in Novak's favour. Matches Vs top 10 players: Novak - Played: 348, won: 241. 69.3% win ratio. Roger - played: 347, won: 224. 64.6% win ratio. Rafa - played: 288, won: 186. 64.6% win ratio. Novak has won more matches against the top 10 than anyone in history. 31 wins in a season in 2015 Vs top 10, which is an all time record. Novak has won more "sunshine double" tournaments than any player in history. Novak is the better player over all surfaces: Big 3 ranked on hard courts: 1. Novak 2. Roger 3. Rafa Big 3 ranked on grass courts: 1. Roger 2. Novak 3. Rafa Big 3 ranked on clay courts: 1. Rafa 2. Novak 3. Roger Roger played 4 years longer in his career, than where Novak is now. Novak is just going to keep adding to his records.
