Grateful Mom! In my gut I knew this was our problem which occurred last night after trying to use the disposal for sweet potato peels. Nothing we did from the sink side helped free anything in the drain. Reset button didn't pop, wrench twisted on bottom of disposal freely, water was spinning in the sink but not going down. I watched this and a few times you make it seem so easy. I had my 15 year old son watch again with me and he was game to try. I nervously geared up. We completely successfully found the ground clogged mess in the "P" trap, as you called it. My son had fun finding it and helping me fix our problem vs calling in a company I don't know and who knows how much it would have cost. On limited funds I am so grateful for this video and hanging on to our $$.

We had a kitchen sink clog last night (whole bunch of pasta through the garbage disposal, OOPS - lesson learned), and called Roto Rooter after multiple Draino attempts failed. That was the clearest tutorial that I have seen. You didn’t leave any details out. This was my first time doing it and I was able to go with high confidence that I am gonna get it done. I was done in 18 minutes. The stoppage was at the U shape part. Pieces of thyme and cleaning sponge caused that.

Last year I did everything this professional said, I took it all apart and cleaned the pipes and put it back together. But my goal was to find out where that clog is first and save myself hours of work.

Very helpful but my sink backs up on both sides when water is ran or dishwasher is ran, pretty sure its a grease problem somewhere into the wall piping. Was hoping the video would cover the best way to snake out and explain exactly what I'm snaking into most commonly so I can find out where this dang stoppage is. The sink will drain very slowly over the course of a few hours but fills right back up after water runs for a minute or so. Any thoughts sir??

This man knows his stuff!! I had a clog on the disposal side. The disposal was still turning but sink was clogged. I took apart the bottom piping precisely as instructed in this video. I found carrot shavings from last night's salad that my wife had put in the disposal which clogged it. I pulled them out of the piping, reattached it and everything works perfectly. I saved myself a few hundred dollars by watching this video. amazing. Thanks Roger!

I have no experience in plumbing whatsoever. However this video was so easy to follow I just used my hands, a bucket and an auger. There was some stuff inside the p-trap and in the wall. Though it took minimal effort. It was so nice to see the water run through. I don't do any of this ever, but you've definitely always amused me and taught me things. I hope you keep making videos. Thank you very much, minus the outpour of water had too much pressure on the U joint looking thing, cleaned it up with towels got the towels in the washer. Everything under the sink and on the floors, dry, blind chick was able to do this crap myself. Thank you so much.

Both sinks were totally clogged of course its Saturday and plumber wanted to charge $185 minimum. I did what someone said in a comment on another video. I plugged the non-disposer side, made sure disposer side was 1/2 full and ran the crap out of the disposal. After a couple of tries using boiling water and some draino- Viola! The pressure blew the clog away.🎉🎉 Saved $200!

Thank you for the free lesson. I had a garbage disposal fail and one of my friends put a lot of chopped broccoli down the drain. It would have made it but the downward pipe went into a straight T with a clean out on one end. With out the 45 angle to predispose the water to the correct path it would clog there a lot. I've also used Hot Shot acid drain cleaner as well further down the line. A big lesson for most homeowners if they don't already know is to follow the disposal with lots of hot water to ensure it gets to the main line.

👍👍😎😎🖐🖐... thats where I make my bank I focus more on clogged up sinks, tubs, showers and main line... specially when you have the right snake... and before I snake a sink i make sure that I check the pipes and P-trap thats where most of your cloggs will be, if not the I clean it out with the snake 👍👍🖐... Great Video ! Roger! I working in the building engineering business clogs are common mostly coffee problems. The one I hate is disposal problems. I pondered something A plumber did not invent a disposal! I dont believe in them!! To many people are lazy with the use of them …Just throw any in there. just my 2 cents worth! I dont own a disposal!

I messed up, I forgot that you can't put potato peels down the drain and I figured, "it's fine I got this new super fancy, industrial looking garbage disposal it can handle everything!" .... it could not.... turns out it could not handle the potates and I clogged my sink. Now being the stubborn hard-headed woman I am I DID NOT want to admit to my husband that I done messed up so I tried doing the baking soda and vinegar and boiling water and it didn't work so I had to look up how to do fix my oopsie before I admitted it to my husband and this video literally saved me!! I found this very helpful thank you. I didn’t find a clog though. My dishwasher has been overflowing and the drains are slow. I expected to find some thing. I guess I’ll have to call a plumber now😞

Thanks so much, this walked me through exactly what I needed.

Turn the dishwasher if you have one to drain mode. Plug the strainer basket side of the sink with a plunger and hold tight. Turn on the garbage disposal make sure drain is backed up. The suction will clear the waste out if the stoppage is before the vent. This will clear the drain and evacuate all water. Then you can disassemble the waste and clean it out without dealing with the backed up water. For professionals if the blockage is in the drain past the vent and there is a vent through the roof. Go onto the roof with the drain backed up and blow down the vent. You should hear it blow back. You can use your drain machine to clear from the roof which works better with the head pressure of water and the machine against the stoppage.

Thank you so much for this video! I followed your instructions and it gave me the confidence to try this out. Our clog was past the ptrap at another joint that has a slight bend. Unfortunately I didn't have the right tools to scrape that far deep, so I just strapped a plastic fork on the end of a long chopstick and raked the crud out. I think there might be buildup further down but this scraping cleared up much of it to the point where we're functional. Thank you Roger!
