Looks like your feedback has helped! Rogue announced today (July 21) that they'll exchange your MG-4C for the new narror version if you want! You just have to email them. They also told me they're not abandoning the MG-4C and have thicker handles in the works. This goes to show why they're one of the best in the business.

Rogue recently got involved in the manufacturing & selling of Kabuki's Kadillac, the improvement being that the Ohio-made Kadillac now features knurling on its handles (though I thought Kabuki's powder coat sufficed). Apparently it's not a super aggressive knurl (more like that of a typical Rogue bar) and still has the same powder coat as the OG. $70 more than a base MG-4CN, but go with the Kadillac, yes?

Seems like they typically do it wrong. I would wait at least a year before buying anything rogue releases. Especially if you have to wait a month or two anyways on their new releases. 1) the big rounded bar had flattened knurling and coating issues and bars coming out of tubes and getting messed up 2) ab3.0 had issues. Slippery pad, alignment issues, etc. 3) now this 4) slinger a bad design (still bad)

For those who saw the specs of the first bar, were ok shelling out the cash for it knowing those specs, you got what you wanted. Definitely understand the disappointment though, Rogue absolutely needed more consumer input before putting it out. Who I feel worse for are those who purchased the bar who did not understand the specs but trusted the Rogue name. With that said, I feel it was the right choice for Rogue to quickfix the product to prevent more people from purchasing a bar that doesn't live up to its price tag.

Right after I bought the bench they came out with short legs for the bench. I contacted Rogue to see if I could get the short legs (swap mine out or buy them). Their initial response was they would sell me just the short legs for the bench for the exact same price it would cost me to buy the entire bench again! For a company that usually has good customer service I still can't believe they gave me that option and would not even consider selling me the short legs cheaper than an entire new bench nor letting me swap my bench out that I just bought.

I don't think it needs a lot of criticism. You call them "nitpicks" yourself, that the width didn't really cause issues for you, and describe the bar as "nice but overpriced" in the initial review. It's not like the Titan SSB v1 where they release a complete garbage product. I don't think the original bar needs heavy criticism. This is what's about to happen with their Adjustable Bench 3.0. They rushed it to market with subtle design flaws that should have absolutely not existed and quickly began working on what obviously appears to be a revision, under the name Manta Ray. Eliminating the two piece spine connection and metal-to-metal contact points appear to be the main improvements. We'll see if they change it up anymore than that, but given their current bench line, I can't imagine what else they could logically introduce under this configuration and at this point in time without making the new-ish 3.0 a completely irrelevant consideration for new buyers. For current owners, we're stuck with the design mistakes that are only highlighted with the upcoming Manta Ray.
@BasementBrandon

I didn't consider that bench to be a replacement, but will have to wait to see more!
@George_Banks
@George_Banks 2 жыл бұрын
@@BasementBrandon Yeah, who knows- just assumptions admittedly, but seemingly logical ones at least. They would of course never admit it to be a replacement or revision, but based on the very similar design and likelihood of any new features/innovations being introduced that aren't already covered by their current lineup, I can only imagine this is just their way of mitigating the experiment's many issues. IMO, in most cases, shipping optimizations should not dictate critical design and engineering decisions for products like this. From business POV I get it, but as an engineer I disagree with it. Anyway, as you said, we'll see.

Unfortunate for garage gym folk, but I do think the original release is better suited for strongman applications so I don't think the Narrow grip is redundant per se. here’s my comment I think everyone that bought that bar before the second one came out should be able to send it back and re-purchase the second bar with like a 75% discount and then they could take all the bars that were sent back and put them in the boneyard on sale and recoup some of their money because if they do it that way they’re really not losing out on money and they’re making a little extra because they got the original purchase price along with the partial purchase price of the new bar plus the purchase price of the boneyard bar now my math may be wrong🤣 but seems legit to me and if it was my company I owned enough stock in it I do my best to make that happen

Rogue is great, most of my gym equipment is from them, but they are not perfect. I feel like they focus a lot on quality (yes) but too much on overbuilding. Some things are overbuilt to the point that it hinders use. Their incline bench is one. The thing weights a ton, can lift a full size family on it, but it barely has any settings. The belt squat has bigger pins to hold the handles than the tractors and cranes at work. It's cool but kinda pointless.

This was just a very expensive bar in my opinion that was released too quick, they used everyone to Beta test it and now they made the changes and I’d be surprised if they apologize. Rogue has grown so fast and in my experience, quality control has suffered with that growth. I have the Elite FTS American Cambered bar so I wasn’t interested in this one, but Rogue needs to keep up with Rep so I’m sure it won’t be the only release of an inferior product. I hope they learn a valuable lesson from this and do a better job of testing before releasing to the public in the future.
