I've just come back from America where I was invited to a small Warhammer event in a HUGE corporate castle retreat.
I had my first game of Age of Sigmar, went on a magical quest and also had a lot of feelings about Warhammer, anxiety, friendship and how to fit in ...
This video gets a little feelsy but I think it was really important to make, so thank you to the whole Tough Crowd for helping me show everyone just how great you all are :)

@@roguehobbies If I could give you two any advice, having watched both videos, is that when you are in a scenario where your insecurities or anxieties are coming into play - take your time. Work it out. If I were to play with you, Louise, you could take all day to get through it. Wouldn't impact my fun levels at all.

Having suffered with my own mental health issues myself, I not only commend you but admire you for your incredible bravery for opening up regarding your own struggles with mental health. Just imagine how many people you have helped by doing so (if it helps 1 person or 100 people) it starts them on too a healing path that could have been too scary to begin prior to witnessing your own bravery. Thank you so very much 😊

Thank you for talking about dyscalculia and how it puts the fear of god in to tabletop gamers who have it! I hate being the reason D&D and Warhammer sessions slow or pause because of my brain being unable to add basic numbers, and it has definitely given me enough anxiety over the years to avoid games with people I don't know well. Just showed this amazingly wholesome video to my partner to distract from some of her anxiety about an operation tomorrow. She found it amazing to hear someone describing dyscalculia in such a similar way to how they experience it, and then going one step further to describe the difficulties in playing games and yet doing it anyway. This representation really matters. It made them do a (happy) cry. Because crying is cool.

Hi Rogue Hobbies, I recently discovered your channel. I didn’t know what to expect when I started watching this video but I am glad I watched it. I have always dealt with anxiety that stops me from enjoying what I love the most (miniature wargaming). I have had my fair share of terrible opponents that really hurt my self esteem and that made me quit certain games. Even to this day I have reservations playing new people but I am slowly coming out of my shell especially with the new miniature community I take part in (I play Malifaux) I feel like the best thing we can do for a hobby and a community no matter what game you play is just to be friendly and welcoming. We all deal with our own stuff and usually find miniature gaming as our safe space or what we do to relax. It is a great feeling once you becoming part of a group especially with a group of people you share something in common with :)

Louise, may I suggest that your next companion to the fisher goblin could be a "knight" goblin riding a certain orange species of salamander? 🥰 Also, I would probably characterize some of your nervousness as a frustrating coctail of fear of rejection, performance anxiety and impostor syndrome. And you succeding at keeping those fears at bay and now sharing that very personal experience makes you a very brave person, ROCK ON Louise!🥳 Also, your enthusiasm is obvious, inspiring and very endearing❤ PS, my spouse is very much looking forward to mushroom tutorial videos!😊

Doesn't stop me adding to my aos collection, though, as they are my favourite models to paint. Eventually, I'll have a few full armies to lend to my mates so i can get some more games in. Thankyou for sharing this epic vlog. I've found that it's been tough to get friends back out together socially after lockdown let alone with all the hurdles that adult life throws out there. I've got some very dear friends who gather twice a year for a big weekend of wargaming at a luxury lodge in Wales (not quite the scale of that amazing castle). The social side feels more important than the gaming and twice a year doesn't feel enough. But sharing those moments together mean a lot when months and years tick by so fast. Great vid. the thing I love about this hobby is overwhelmingly, people are just so excited to share what they love with people and want them to feel included. The fact that someone who's been such a cornerstone in the Warhammer world for a long time was loved for doing her own thing and starting this channel and subsequently was invited to hang out at a tournament across an ocean and was made to feel like one of the gang is really just what makes everything so special to me. I am low-key envious I don't know the kinds of people that would let me hang out in a giant castle-themed mansion in the middle of the woods.

I'm going to be honest I would love to see some game commentary videos on your channel, I think they'd be awesome! Also, I recently found out I have ADHD and I've also been in that situation many times of wanting desperately for a specific group to like me and not being myself because of it. So I truly feel and emphasize for you there. Watching your work, honestly inspires confidence in me and very often gets me off my butt to attempt to complete all my unfinished Warhammer projects. So thank you for that and keep being amazing.

Hey Louise, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings, especially the ones you are vulnerable about. If you haven't tried it yet, I would strongly recommend the game Space Weirdos. The rules are only 16 pages and $5, and the math doesn't really need any calculations. Plus, you get to use whatever miniatures you want! (which is the best part)
