Another ROKR project, this looks like it will be a fun little build, it came with an LED light, so I'm looking forward to seeing it fully lit up along with the music.
I ran into an issue with the acrylic cylinder in the middle of the lantern, it turns out it was rubbing at the bottom which would not allow the music box to function, so I took it out. I will probably replace it for display, just because I think it looks nicer with it included.
As always: thanks for watching I really appreciate every view and will do my best to answer or address any questions or comments.

I had the same problem that you had, and many others with the acrylic cylinder, so I just took mine out too. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I deeply appreciate it and loved watching it. Thanks again.

I had the same problem with the acrylic cylinder not turning with the cover on . As expected ,the problem was solved by sanding the top of the cylinder with a rough sandpaper but it took a lot of sanding :)) It would have been much easier with a metal file .

I didn't even think of trying that, that stuff is so brittle and finicky when you start playing with it, I just left it alone.

@@Dbuilderguy Oh I took the cylinder out before sanding of course ! They should have made it just a couple millimeters shorter . The led lights shine brighter when reflected off its shiny surface making an illusion of the light coming from inside the lantern :)

I have the same issue finishing my music box and I came on KZfaq to see if anybody else had figured it out. I had also tried sanding and waxing my acrylic and then also decided to just take it out. Tomorrow I may try to sand it down quite a bit more and see if that helps. In any case, this was very helpful to see I wasn't the only one that had issues, thank you!

pressing down the cylinder so it was flush with the bottom fixed mine^^ also, the centerpiece at the bottom (the little crown like part) was also catching on the inside of the cylinder

That's good to know, that was still early days for me, I was more worried about breaking the models back then since they seemed so flimsy, but I'm about to start up on another lantern build (from a different company) so I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the tips.

what is the number for the button cell batteries? I did not see any in my kit? I also did not see any glue as well.

It uses 3 of the LR44 button batteries.

Yep, the tube looks for display at least.

Same for me, tube is cut like crap, it’s angled and touch part it shouldn’t.

Finished my Lantern last week! Only problem with it is that you can't crank the music box more than about one and a half times, or you'll jam it. No biggie. I actually wanted to ask a general question. You know that glue that comes with some kits that kinda glows purple when you put it on the wood? Do you what that's called? I'd like to buy a supply of it, as I really like it - it's thin and doesn't clog, seems to be stronger than the other kind, and I just like the glow LOL. I asked in my Rokr facebook group, but no one seems to know the answer.

Yep, its pretty dim, more to look at and see it’s lit than actually provide any useful light, I think.

Found the fix..the tube is too long and/or too much weight. Hacksawed about an inch off in length…do it on a towel or will scratch the tube….mine is now flush with the ceiling of the lantern room and turns great now and the ring holder drops right in.

Okay, I may have to pull it off the shelf and give that a try, I think someone else mentioned that before and I never got around to shortening the tube.

@@Dbuilderguy One quick test and you may have done this in your video when trying to fix…wind it up and lift up on the tube to reduce the weight…if it starts running then it needs 1-1/2 in removed. I didn’t measure how much …probably close to a inch and a half and flush with inside roof. Can’t tell any difference in outside. Thanks for the video!
