Not so difficult, just very time consuming, but hope seeing someone else do it is helpful!
I didn't quite emphasize the importance of clearing out the holes, and made it seem like an afterthought, but it is really important have a totally clear through hole for the new switches to fit correctly.
AND I realize how lame it is to say the keyboard repairs happened off screen, but I honestly didn't think what I was trying would actually solve it, wasn't worth setting up a new camera angle.
That's the price of just quickly tossing together a video lmao
These are the exact ones I ordered on mouser, not the only listing that will work. : www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...

Even if there probably aren't many people out there specifically repairing buttons on this specific synth, videos like this are so damn helpful and are a godsend to the few people who do happen to end up dealing with the same issue. Content like this is much appreciated even if it may not get very many views; although I'm sure there are people like me who watch regardless because synth internals are super interesting to learn about, especially analog ones!

My D-110 makes me want a D50 real bad. Good to see this repair documented, as there is a local listing for a unit with non-functioning switches. I’ll have to contact seller for more info, but this video was rather serendipitous today 😂 great video as always friend!

I'm in the middle of restoring a D20, this is helpful. Most of my buttons are sluggish. I had to solder some jumpers on the key controller, because three of my keys were dead and no amount of cleaning or using a lead pencil brought them back. I literally just reformated to factory defaults. I have one more key to clean up, some how it lost it's soft touch but works if you pound on it, so my Multi-Timbral/Performance button is sticky. You have to hold it down, in order for it to activate. So I'm going to move forward with replacing the buttons. I bought this for less than $200. It'll be a great synth when I get it all finished. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Pretty much all synths that came out around or after the D-50... Korg M1, Yamaha SY, etc. have to be opened from the bottom. It's a pain for sure! That dirt and grime is fairly common, especially if the synth was stored in a garage, etc. Thanks for doing repair videos, I'll keep watching ;)

Appreciate you sharing your experience, knowledge and video of your D 50 repairs. I am about to pull our keyboardist D-50 apart and attempt to fix two dead keys and several of the Tact switches. Even better that you dropped the link to the electronics distributer. Thank you and keep up the good work and knowledge sharing. You have a new subscriber.

Isn't that surprising, that ALL of them were in bad shape? There's a good chance reseating the ribbon cables had some positive impact as well, and I wouldn't have had to replace them all, but checking continuity, dozens weren't working right. Cat hair is worse. lol

Can you please give me some advice what would I should do ..... ps. the volume and pitch control are working knob = Tact switch BIG thanx

Jorb, are you an electronics guy or more of a tinkerer? I've done surgery on some of my gear (displays, batteries, odds-n-ends) but I always just asked questions and tried to figure it out as I went and tried not to screw anything up or dig too deep.
