@@Adam-ij1fg I had no idea Rennae Stubbs had her own podcast. I love Rennae Stubbs. When Rennae speaks at the U.S. Open I stop whatever I'm doing and listen. She's incredibly intelligent and very strong with her opinions. She calls as she sees it and makes no excuse for any player. She's a pro at her job. Many years ago, when she was first hired as a commentator, I wrote her a letter of encouragement. She wasn't a big name in the media community but she was the best. I will listen to her podcast. Thank you.

I believed that Carlos was destined to win this and he did. I also note the irony that he who defeated Rafa in the first round has been defeated by the one in the last round who is his worthy successor in Spanish tennis history. Congratulations Carlos!

The way Iga changed her mindset after that near-loss to Osaka, is the most impressive. Her mental strength is nothing we have seen before. It's a game changer. Every player should be aware of how she does it.

Athletes today get better physically and mentally, but it's not because they have more natural talent. All the athletes mentioned are incredible. Do you think Navratilova had a psychologist on her team? And even if, training methods were very different back then. Now, people have bigger teams and better training methods, which help their mental preparation a lot, but it's hard to compare different eras.

@@mikiafu it’s not hard to compare eras in this regard. Anyway, to state that this girl has mental strength “we have never seen before” when there are giants with 20+ slams, even Year Golden Slam, in relatively recent history of the game, is borderline moronic. Plus, all due respect to Iga and an acknowledgment that you can only beat who’s in front of you, but Graf, for instance, faced the likes of Navratilova, Sabatini or Seles. Navratilova and Seles definitely all time greats of the sport.

Yes, been waiting for this one. Such good insight and a cool overall review of another great FO. I would remind you, Swiatek did win juniors at Wimbledon in 2018. That tournament had the likes of Raducanu, Zheng, Fernandez, Xinyu, McNally.

And yet, in the highly scripted and mostly boring speeches nowadays, they make sure to mention the tournament’s staff, their opponent’s team and family, the ballkids, and even the sponsors, so I just think it would be a touch of class to include a mention to the other greats who came before. It does not take anything away from their moment.

@@pudimdecana51 It seems you would like the speeches to be even more scripted. :) The greats are acknowledged by the MC when they come on the podium. One other aspect: the former stars often work as commentators, and their comments may not always be fair or kind to the players. Martina and Chris have made their share of blunders in this respect. I wouldn't expect a player to necessarily mention them as part of their triumph. But of course, if they wish, they are free to do so.

I'm happy for the talented/legendary tennis players who just want to retire & live an actual life the public isn't involved in. They've earned it. But for me personally, I LOVE seeing the greats after they've retired & getting to know their personalities & hear more about what the game is like for actual elite players. These podcast sessions are FANTASTIC! Match analysis, stories from the past, insights about the future...& a love & excitement for tennis shining thru everything.

This is such a great show because it shows insider information and just balls-out frustration, just like the rest of us. Iga first: Other than her 2nd round win, next favourite moment was in the final. Paolini broke serve and Iga responded with 10games on the bounce. That is such champion mentality. With the Olympics on clay this year, it is a gilded opportunity for her to do something truly special. Beautiful touch with Chrissie and Martina. Friends beyond rivalry is where both of them win. I thought Sascha had a great tournament - a GS final is no small feat but Alcaraz is a different animal. I'm sure everyone wondered about the game after the Big 3 but worried unnecessarily. Both Men's and Ladies tennis is in a great place right now. Can't wait to see how everyone transitions onto grass...

As an 1GA fan -- just to make things interesting for Coco Gauff - her weakness is her volleys, and bringing her into the net by drop shots and slower, low slices.... The other key for Coco not being able to overpower 1GA is to come into the net and put away volleys when she is outside the doubles alleys!!! Good LUCK to Coco!!! She's a great ROLE model and will be TOUGH to beat at home and maybe even at Wimby with some more crowd support from the English speakers.... She had a good win in the Doubles!! That's a good sign she's working on her volleys...

I think on grass and hard court if Gauff's serve becomes more consistent she will cause Iga a lot of problems and hopefully some wins. When Coco's serve is on its superior to Iga's and the serve makes such a difference in women's tennis a la Serena Williams. Coco has some technical things that she obviously needs ro fix and getting to world number 2 with those technical flaws is a testament to her talent and grit.

Andy, I thank you for including the WTA players (not just IS) in your commentary. I don't see to much. WTA commentary other than IS and inpassing at that. So thanks so much for the coverage. Now I've often heard how much fun doubles are when at an event. Also that club players often play doubles. Given that it seems that dubs are an after thought for broadcasting what needs to done to elevate dubs (both men's and women's) for viewing audiences? Thanks again for the great show

Totally agree with Andy on that df call. Nobody, i mean, nobody is saying that Zverev would have won the match, but we will never know. As Andy said, it's a final of a GS and a vital point that could have changed the match. I'm glad Andy pointed that out when everyone says Zverev would have lost anyway - well, we don't know that, he waa able to comeback from 2:5 down in a 3rd. Again, yes, he might have lost the match anyway, but maybe that break back would have given him confidence and a bit of freedom he needed- we will never know

Another great show. Love Kim and. yes, Jon too. Refs absolutely need to be consistent. The coaching rule is not hard to understand, and that’s not why Tsitsi Pop gets fined. He’s not confused. He’s an overbearing person who is accustomed to doing what he wants.

Hi Andy...Rafa may not be the GOAT but on his best surface (FO)he has not lost in a Grand Slam finals. But Novak has lost on hard court, Roger on grass...Anyway, big 3 are the greatest athletes...just from the individuality, mentality and the physicality of the game. No other sport is as demanding. ❤

The Hawkeye margin of error is 2.5mm and this call was easily within that range, so it's not necessarily true that the umpire made the wrong call. Looking at a mark (if it's the correct one) is going to be more accurate than Hawkeye because a human eye can easily discern 2.5 mm.

The proven accuracy shown in tennis helped to grow the technology’s usage across other sports." okay... also the line judge called it out, as well as hawkeye, umpire overruled.

Idk she looked pretty damn good on grass last year. Still inexperienced on the stuff and has plenty of room to continue improving. I won't be that surprised if she wins wimbledon in the next few years

@@TheColburnReporther western grip is not ideal for grass, she would have to work hard on improving on this surface but the main problem is she doesn’t have time for that, she plays nearly every tournament until the very end and the Olimpics is more of her priority this year.

@@magdalenaborek8350 I agree that it wont be easy for her and I dont think itll happen this year either. But ultimately she is the best tennis player in the world and made adjustments last year that led to her best grass performances and a QF finish. I think shes not as far off from being a serious contender there as people think and she can continue improving in the next few years to get over the hump. Grass will always be her weakest surface, no doubt, but that doesnt mean she can't win one with the right technical and tactical adjustments.

In terms of that specific call it was within the margin of error of hawkeye to my understanding so it may very well have been in. Also would be great if Kim could be an ongoing regular. Considering WTA makes up half the tour good to break up the sausage fest.

Or it may have been out by more. I haven't seen any source that it was out by the margin of error - what we do know is that hawkeye has it out, the line judge called it out, and yet the umpire overrules. If by any small chance itmiraculously catches by 0.005mm, is that enough for an umpire to overrule the line judge? He has no place to interject on that call - unless he is sure an error has been made. My take is the call was so bad, that replays & hawkeye replays were not shown. As Andy says, it's not good enough in these times, we shouldn't have slam outcomes decided by these.
