The more I hear this thing, the more I like it! It's like having access to much of my old roland gear without a monstruous reinvestment. I really miss my Jupiter 80. I have no doubt, that was one of the most creative beasts Roland ever made. Jupiter X certainly in the same realm, but still, think the 80 was far more capable of spanning the entire Roland experience and was all inclusive. You didn't have invest in more add-on/plug-ins. It was just there. This little guy is fantastic IMHO. Truly wish I got this before giving in to the MPC world, that I truly hate! That things got to go!

The tips in this video are really creative polyrhythms, arp programming using dorian mode - all keep the listener hanging on ...

I like the idea of sliding patterns making different combinations of rhythms. I'm not sure of the settings, so I appreciate you showing us how to size and scale the patterns.

@@vantassell6454 Well, I think it's a matter of taste, there are no absolute rules. The important thing is to create something that sounds good to the ears

Nice one.. Im not great at theory but isnt D Dorian all the white keys starting on D? (Ie a mode of C Major)

I have this synth :) I like it so far but I am pairing it along with a matriarch. I also saw behringer announced the model-15 is getting ready for production. Should i return this and get a model-d and model-15 for the same price almost ? I like this synth but I love the moog sound too

I wouldn't give the SH-4d back for a Behringer Model 15, especially if you already have the Matriarch which gives you the Moog sound you love. Roland has a sound all his own and deserves to stay, in my opinion.

@@malvinusmusic that’s exactly why i got it :) i’m barley scratching the surface with this thing. after my matriarch, i’m so used to having no presets and starting from scratch. but with the sh-4d i can pick a preset and build on it to whatever i like for my track. i guess it’s good to have it for my sonic pallete

Thanks for this. Just ordered this. For others, when one switches off the box does the settings get saved or return to default?

@JohnSAitken you have to save the settings per pattern, then they'll get saved even when you switch off the unit. Global settings get saved as well.

For example a pattern playing a sequence of 3/4 against another sequence of 4/4. Different from polyrythm which is a cross rhythm, for example triplets against eights
