I owned this machine in the early 80's. It was state of the art at the time for a portable machine. Used it for guitar, live gigs and recording. I loved it. So cool to see and hear one after all these years. Thanks for the demo.

The exact sound is hard to replicate but there are plenty of options to recreate the vibe of these analog pieces of kit. But for some reason this stands out to me as absolute magic, maybe it's the massive knobs, maybe its the wiggly worms living inside that make all the noise.

Now I understand how the delay effect was made in the era of the Beatles 😀 Not the fact that a similar device was used - but such a principle was used - tape delay. It sounds very musical and at the same time very nostalgic - this is not just a delay effect - it is a time machine 😀 You listen - and you are transported to the 60s. By the way, there is an emulation of this device from Ik Multimedia

This device should be in History books. Changing forever music, especially Rock and Raggae..... Man when I saw the tapes accelerating inside.. My brain bugged completely. Needed 3 visions to get it.. And still not sure how it works

Did you just used to run this in your amp's effects loop? Just got a 150 Space Echo
@PeteFGuitar6 жыл бұрын
No, not all amps have an effects loop. I just connected it the usual way.

does it naturally take the bass out of the signal ? that first chord sounds like it is played at the tenth fret. almost like a mandolin

Hi I currently have my guitar running through a pedal, the pedal through the echo and the echo output through the amp. I notice that my fuzz pedal is brighter when in front of the echo but the echo is less vibrant as opposed slot when the pedal is after the echo, the pedal is not as bright but the echo is much more vibrant. My question is: how do I get that vibrancy from the echo while the pedal is in front of it retaining its own brightness? I also noticed that when I bring the gain up on my pedal the sound is more distorted which is what I want but the sound is also way louder.
@matthewsmalley12784 жыл бұрын
Try putting a buffer or a pedal with a buffer between the fuzz and the echo. Boss pedals all have them. That should brighten up the echo some. Your problems come from mismatched impedances. The space echo wants to see a low impedance on the way in, which a guitar nor most pedals give without a buffer or something like a DI box. For your pedal gain issue, perhaps you're overloading the input on the echo? Perhaps turning it down some and finding a balance between distortion and loudness would be good.

Will the space echo RE 201work with mic
@bonesc72013 жыл бұрын
Absolutely... anything you want to run it on... if you are using a mixing console run an Aux send to it return it to a channel...VIOLA' echo or reverberation simulation sounds great for most projects... I used those units for live sound back in the day before we had digital effects...

A bit hissy eh, not sure that this unit will be ok on a gig situation tho it sounds better than the unit that I tried out a long time ago, probably that one needed a new tape cassette.

@uberdang8304 жыл бұрын
It's an analogy delay that uses a tape loop. Also known as a tape echo. The reason why these are desirable and expensive is the sound you get from the tape compression. And there is no latency that you can and do get from a digital processor.
