This is a change from my usual Dangerous content! It's more behind the scenes of how I make my videos and the equipment I use. I thought this might be useful to other creators out there.
I've got some very Dangerous videos coming soon so make sure you have subscribed!
These two devices are video switching and streaming boxes. They allow users to switch between multiple video and audio sources, record the feed to a hard drive and also stream it live to the internet. In this video I go over the pros and the cons of each device and give you my recommendation. This video is more aimed at influencers or KZfaqrs who want to get serious with their video production.

Thanks for this video. I was debating between the audio quality of the 2 and you answered my question perfectly. I'll be getting the Roland box.

Audio issues on the ATEM Mini are due to a Mic/Line option inside the settings of the unit. You have to log in to the ATEM remotely to change from a line to mic option to bring down the input gain. Just an FYI if you are running into this kind of issue.

Thanks for the video. Interesting to see these. Wondering whether there is an advantage to more time setting up and less time editing by using these sorts of devices. Would love to see more examples of both in action. Thanks.

100% saves editing time. You basically end up with a finished product right after the filming

I was about to purchase the Rodecaster Pro 2 for my new in-home studio that's I'm building, along with the Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro until I saw the Roland AeroCaster Livestreaming System. I love the fact that Roland uses XLR's and they also connect to all camera sources via Wi-Fi, so not a lot of cables everywhere. Roland may have changed my mind on my equipment purchase! Your thoughts?

Hey Dean, great video. With the VR-1HD connected to two Shure S7MB mics, would you recommend also connecting these to a cloudlifter?

Hey mate, there are quite a lot of on board options for gain and EQ etc on the VR1-HD. I haven’t actually used a cloudlifter so can’t really comment on wether it would enhance the sound any better than what the Roland can do. My hunch is that you wouldn’t need it as you can get a pretty beefy sound out of the Roland.

Just come across these devices, certainly looks cool. For sm7b you need between 60-80db of gain on the mic pre. I would check the spec before buying, if you are worried. But if you have background music doubt it would be an issue.

The ATEM Mini Pro is not meant for Audio. The Roland offers Audio mixing with video switching. If you are going with an ATEM Mini Pro, you also need a separate audio board mixer. You then feed your audio into the PC and then Video from Atem into PC separately. The Roland acts more as both.

That’s not true at all. There’s a 6 channel mixer built in and you control it with software which is much better than Roland’s. Yes the mini uses 1/8” inputs but that doesn’t mean the pres aren’t useful. They’re fantastic and if you know how mic/line level works, you can use a small mixer and extend the audio capability far beyond the Roland and cheaper too. With that kind of setup, you won’t need a PC to do any of the streaming. Only to control the ATEM. In fact you can connect a whole bunch of computers to the ATEM to have different people do different tasks as you scale your projects like camera controls, audio mixing, color correction etc. Roland is not scalable in its ecosystem.
