@hapleekilmour5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Martin, I must say that your influence on me back in the early 80’s has had a lasting affect. You encouraged myself and a friend to start bass fishing the canals and ponds west of town in northern Palm Beach County. At that time, I’d be hard pressed to tell a bass from a bluegill, but I learned fast. Using the barest of equipment and lures, simple plastic worms typically, we eventually made our way out to Lake O, where the big bass play. After watching this video, we certainly learned how big gators can change ones perspective of the hole you’re fishing, especially when the gator seems, or most likely is, bigger than your 10’ aluminum John Boat, though I’ve come to understand their behaviors much more since then. My friend Dennis soon became a business owner and his time is dedicated as such to this day, so unfortunately he has little time for what we enjoyed so carefree in our youth. As for myself, and my time is also somewhat limited, I have since taken my fishing explorations, though somewhat limited, into the saltwater realm as well. Offshore, near shore, inshore and fresh water are all fair game. My favorite target species of the salt water variety however, is Snook. And I will attribute that to you. The extreme similarities when casting for the smaller Snook in the mangroves and that of fishing for bass has brought me full circle. I sincerely thank you for that. I am so happy that I found your KZfaq channel. Thank you Mr. Martin, Bobby

Roland, I still love the Jim Strader's Diamond Eye you endorsed about 40 years ago. I have fished the whopper plopper but haven't gotten a fish yet. I actually found both of mine hung up in grass on the bank. People forget about the prop baits.I encourage more people to try prop-type topwater baits. My friend and I fished two days in a row in the 80's while on fall break and his Dad took us out on the third day and caught a 5-3/4 lb largemouth within his first two casts on first brush pile on a point on that Diamond Eye and razzed us all day about fishing two days and not getting a single fish and he got one in first 5 mins on water. Thanks for the video & God Bless You

My Father told me when I was a kid, that most fishing lures were designed to caught the fisherman, more than the fish. That was more than fifty years ago. The Arbogast Jitter Bug, and the Heddon Crazy Crawler, will do the same thing. It is a top water gurgle bait in a new wrapper. But hey, I am going to buy me one too, because you can not have enough lures.
@geyotepilkington28925 жыл бұрын
Oh wow im glad you mentioned the Heddon crazy crawler, I recently just bought an old tacklebox at an estate sale filled with weird looking vintage lures and couldnt figure out what they were. After googling the crazy crawler it turns out thats what some of them are! Theres all sorts of cool stuff in it from the 60s/70s including an old firstaid kit

I love topwater plugs... I own multiple Heddon torpedoes (even the magnum), multiple jitterbugs, spooks, hula poppers, savage gear ducks, and multiple rat lures. The Whopper Plopper is far superior to all. The topwater rats are the only exception. If it's late spring/summer time and I need a quick bite. I'm pulling out a Whopper Plopper 110/130 in the bone color.

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup kzfaq.infoUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
