Rev. William Barber Delivers Masterful History Lesson, Declares 'It's Movement Time Again'

6 жыл бұрынRev. William Barber delivered the benediction at the close of #RolandMartinUnfiltered Presents: The State Of Our Union.
During his closing remarks, Rev. Barber addressed our current political climate, the lack of morality in it, the existence racial animus and the browning of America.
Barber offered a masterful history lesson dissecting the reconstruction period, civil rights era and our not so distant past.
The President of Repairers of the Breach chastised those in America whose intent is to reverse the progress African Americans, women and progressives have made over the course of the last 100 years.
Barber began his commentary reading a passage from Ezekiel 22, out of what he called the “Millennial version” of the Bible.
Barber began with the premise that God was angry because priests were “desecrating” his holy things. He continued, “Your politicians have become like wolves - prowling and killing and taking whatever they want.”
“And your preachers are covering up for the politicians by pretending to have received visions and revelations; they say this is what God says and I God have not said a thing.”
“And because your politicians are like wolves, and your preachers are covering up for your politicians; extortion is rife; robbery is epidemic; the poor and the needy are being abused; and the immigrants and the strangers are being kicked around at will with no access to justice.”

Im a (white) Atheist (from Europe), I'm not used to listening to sermons but this was a strong message. Very impressive. The remarks about black folks and white liberals working together gave me hope for a better future. There's work to do to turn these dark tides. Roland .S Martin brought me here btw. Stay Safe all!

Why should blacks work with white liberals? Shouldn't Liberals work with liberals and conservatives work with conservatives? Why would a black person who does not believe in abortion or gay agendas align with white liberals? Why would a black person who does not believe in big government or entitlements gone amuck side with a white liberal? Why should a black person who sees liberalism as the cause of so many social ills in black America vote for liberalism? Liberalism does not represent the black interest of all blacks. We see things differently just like whites see things differently among themselves. Thats why I personally could never be liberal....I just do not like how white liberals see blacks. Many blacks do not see themselves as victims. Because of this...they conduct a life based on self determination and succeed. These blacks have a conservative value system...not a liberal one. So in short...liberals should side with liberals and conservatives should side with conservatives...no matter what the race.

I'm Puerto Rican, we met with some white folks that we met here in the bible belt and this is what we were told, the man said "our church accepts every, Hispanics, blacks, gays"......you see what category some people put us in....a pastor once said "dont equate the color of my skin with your sin"......

@@thinktankindi2664 The Black community should work with ourselves first, then with liberals, conservatives, moderates, progressives or whoever,on those issues that benefit (and cause no harm to) our communitiy. Individually, Black people can join organizations that advocate for their individual pet causes and be a voice for educating the wider Black community on those issues or a voice speaking out against them within the community. But what threatens our kids, who is with us and willing to support us, is welcome

@GPAGE you are right. So why would I align myself with those who warred to keep slavery ir Jim Crow Laws? Why would I align myself with those who see us as weeds of society ( Margaret Sanger) and create infrastructure to kill my people via abortion? I could go on...I suggest you study history. Look I would advise all people to see things clearly. There are racist in every political party, community, and place of employment. To think that the democrat party is less racist than republicans is either non thinking or deceptive. I would advise all to dismiss the race thing and vote on values instead.

This is the most brilliant ministering I have heard in a long time, this is very timely and welcoming. This is as right on point than I have lived through so far, up to this point, thank you so much for this. This is a real fire underneath our fannie's we need to have. You are just one in a million who have every bit of the where with all to tackle all of these bundled, hot buttoned issues, to the nano second of any and all dimensions. I applaud you, many times over. Such a riveting and gutsy sermon. This is the kind of remedy we need, instead of being repeatedly spooned fed with the same old, lame brained insidious, inflamed, knock off, renditions of long time, fractured, ineffective structures that couldn't or wouldn't hold all or any weight.

I love this man so much, and for some very important reasons. I was raised in a home where I was taught to believe in an angry and vengeful God, who was constantly watching me so that I could be punished for my sins. God was weaponized against me and I was absolutely terrified of him. When I was finally able to leave that toxic and abusive environment, the first thing I did was become an atheist. I felt that I had no choice. For me, it had become a matter of life and death. But a few years ago I discovered this extraordinary man, the Reverend Doctor William Barber Il, right here on KZfaq. I started listening to his lectures and sermons. And he was talking about this God who was loving and kind and compassionate and who wanted the very best for me. These were completely foreign concepts to me. But little by little those old deep wounds that were inflicted upon me, as well as many other wounds too many to mention, starting to heal. I have a lot more healing to do, and I still struggle with my beliefs. But at least I know that there is this loving caring God out there waiting for me, when I am fully able to embrace him. My people clearly fit all the curses of the Israelites. Everything they've been through fits the plight of my ppl even in the colonial text books compared to Deuteronomy 28:1,68. Yeah the the whole chapter matches up with the doctrinated colonia history books when you look and compare both readings so cut the bullshit.

I'm a white atheist and I could listen to this man preach all day long, I love this man. I've watched and listened to videos featuring him a number of times now and follow his Poor People's Campaign, and this particular sermon brought literal tears to my eyes. You don't need to hold any religious beliefs to be inspired by this gentleman, you simply need to have a love for your fellow man.
