My humble submission is that, mere hurt (sec 319 IPC) cannot become an injury. Hurt becomes injury ony when there is illegality behind it as per Section 44 IPC, i.e. if mensrea present behind the the hurt it becomes injury (section 321 onwards i.e. voluntarily causing hurt/ grievous hurt are injury) otherwise hurt u/s 319 is a mere hurt, because mensrea need not be always there behind the hurt e g. Causing hurt by doctor by sugical operation is not injury. Hence mere hurt is not injury Voluntarily causing hurt becomes an injury
