Thanks for this. I'm excited to order mine and am happy to get your concurrence. Many of the older reviews are kind of harsh. I'm assuming Roli made improvements over the last year to include in this newest Studio version. Also, your presentation was particularly pleasant, concise, cohesive and enjoyable. Subscribed 👍

you reviewed this as if it was a midi controller but it's MPE with, not just aftertouch but polyphonic aftertouch. very different from that other one you're comparing it to...just sayin'

Hello all, I was wondering if someone could help me setup this Role Lumi up in Ableton Live to get Midi feedback. So that after I record something on a track and play it back how do I get the Lumi to play back and light up the recorded notes... I tried everything I could think of but could get the Lumi to play back the notes... I would really appreciate any help.... Thanks for your time

since the roli is a midi controller and does not host its own samples, you won't be able to use midi to play sounds off the roli. Now, that being said, it MAY light up if you route the midi back to it, and this would be done using the external instrument plugin. Though there's not much use for just lighting up the keys with no sound :/ let me know if I can help further!

Did you forget to mention that it has per-key pitch bend by moving the keys side to side?

I did forget about that! That is a really great expressive feature. Thanks for pointing that out!

I have been looking at the Lumi keys for a while. After reading for hours on forums amd YT, I realized there is so much misconception about this. To anyone wondering : 300$ for a small midi keyboard that has lights is a scam, absolutely. It's just that this is way way more than a midi keyboard!

Please, please, what is the cool microphone you are using for the presentation? (Incidentally, i'm writing about about how the perfect-pitch "tone" of each note is not only unique, but analogous to the rainbow spectrum, matching exactly the colors of the Limi Keyboard.).

two side by side and is only 48 keys? need to have 5 to make it 70 keys... so each one is $299 so 5 is like $1500?

If you would have 5 Lumis that would be 120 keys :D 3 lumis side by side is 72 keys. So 900€ without black friday discount. 720€ with the discount so less than half of your original estimation. Still not cheap though..

@@FiercyRabbit1 so I guess to buy 4... for 96 keys... right now is on sales US$239 x 4 = $956... so I guess not that bad if considering a MIDI controller can be $1000... but what about the key action... is it like GHS as on Yamaha P125? Another question is, do the games and app work well with 3 Lumi? Isn't the iPad game designed for 1 Lumi? But wait a second... the keys are not standard piano key width? (standard is white keys about 23.5 mm, Lumi is 19.4mm wide)... isn't that a deal breaker? Like, you can play on it for 5000 hours but then it won't be the same when you play the real piano... could it be, the more you play, the more you are not used to the real piano?

@@winterheat I actually just bought 2pcs of these, mostly because: 1. The lights on the keys have splendid aesthetics for better visual content (aka. Videos and live performance). 2. Portability and bluetooth connectivity, 3. MPE possibilities for unpar expression. And lasty 4. A way to keep practicing piano fun and engaging via the app. The app supports multiple lumi keyboards according to a reviewer source. That being said, the width of the key’s isn’t standard and the key action doesn’t go as deep as a real piano + not weighted keys. Imho this should not be your only source of practicing if you want to learn traditional piano fingerings and such (so I have a traditional keyboard as well.) You can play most songs in the world on 61-keys but if you eventually want to learn classical pieces I’d reccommend full 88 keybed, fully-weighted real piano. As

@@FiercyRabbit1 yes, portability is a big plus... imagine bringing 3 of them out from the back pack and is better than a 61 key piano... I also know somebody who used a Roland Go 61, it is only 8.5 lbs but this one can't be put into a backpack

Question. How does buying mini board teach a person to play a piano? Which section of a standard sized piano does this teach? Obviously a large piano has many keys, so how exactly is this broken down?
