You know what I value the most in your videos, Oliver? The way you recover from mistakes. I'm a lot older than you and I'll never have a fraction of your skills, but you've taught me incredibly valuable lessons. I was working on a little project the other day, and I cocked up some measurements. I was tempted to chuck it all in the bin and start again, but I didn't. I channelled my inner Oliver Snowball and worked with my cockup and managed to get the job done. Cheers mate. I really appreciate what you do for us!

You've really mastered the use of the plasma cutter now Oly! Very quick and clean! 👍👍

Oliver, to stop that rusting on items in your shop from condensation, you can brush/wash/dunk steel with milkstone wash/remover dairy cleaner...only the straight phosphoric acid base ones, not the ones with sulfuric acid in them. The 'steel pickling' prevents rust for some time...maybe a year of more. Works great on steel tooling too and it's pretty cheap. I use it all over my shop here in the states. Hope it helps, thanks for the video content. Great work !!

A good thing , would be to make a small stencil of the snowball logo , after you have finished your repair , to spray thru the stencil leaving your logo on the item , for all to see how good the item or repair was .

I like that roller press 😁 Oliver, to make that roller more adjustable, get a variable frequency drive. Brand should be Danfos, model FC302, affordable used ones are available on ebay etc. Wiring is easy and Danfos has a built in AC and DC brake, so you can stop spot on. No need for an external brake resistor for your application. You can reuse the control box, all you need are two push buttons (start forward and start reverse), a potentiometer 10kOhm and i recommend an emergency stop switch. Parameters can be set on the display, i prefer doing it by laptop.

Seeing a picture of that shunter reminded me of my childhood, down here in Southampton they used to use them to got between the old and new docks. Then in the 1990's they ripped up all the tracks, then 2 years ago started to lay new track as more freight was being sent by train. Nice job on the bonnet, watching you workout the angles to press gave me a headache. 😂 👍

5:06 a trick i was learnt into by an old boiler used to work for us, is you take some wire, make it flat between two plates (you place it between two plates and roll the plates over it and it's perfectly straight) then put that wire butted against the edge of the part you want to bend and using tape, you mark spacings of 4 cm and paint them (both wire and the edge of the plate) with white paint. Then you take the wire, bend it to match the item you want bent to spec and then simply go back to the plate and roll it over on the table, at the edge marking where your starts and exist are, making sure your 4 cm markings match on the wire and the plate. Sounds complicated, goes really fast. The wire can also be used as a gauge for go no-go between the OG item and the item you bend to make sure you're on track. edit: 9:46 if you take a tailor's tape measure and wrap it around the 3 rollers at one end, then do the same at the other end, you'll know when the roller is parallel.

I always love it when old things are remade, because i'd like to think that the people who made it the first time around, if they could see how we do things... their minds would be blown. :))

It is really funny to me, but amazing that replacing plates with new holes is quicker for you than any other way.

Excellent job on the rolling, that's an acquired skill in it's self.

You do a nice job with the video editing, speeding up parts that take a long time and showing other parts at normal speed. Video editing is something above my pay grade. I can do simple stuff, but anything more complex, I get my youngest son to do for me.

Some upgrades on the roller would make it much nicer to use, hydraulic roller adjusters, VFD motor control with electronic braking and some cheap DROs for roller heights and rotation position and it would be a whole new machine.

When i have something to roll i search for a gas bottle to roll it round, or pop down to Ron Whitfields at Fridaythorpe! Good work! Really enjoyed watching you! Phil

Oliver you definitely need a good press you could do with an overhead crane to it would make your life easier.

You're pretty good with that CAD, something I could never work out. My son is an engineer and he does this sort of thing every day at work. Any time I need a quick drawing done, I get him to do it because he also has the program on his computer at home.
